@Octane In fairness, they only patched it in after the Nintendo crowd begged for it, and almost no PS4 owners I've met have shown interest in motion controls being patched into their version.

I just realised I have never played a PS4 game that uses motion...or the touchpad outside of the map in Binding of Isaac.

I've never used most of the damn controller.

They could just remove that stuff and put a bigger battery in. That'd be nice.

@Ralizah It depends on who you ask I guess. Plenty of people only buy a PS4 (or Xbox) to play FIFA on. Then again, I also know people that turned off motion controls in Zelda before they even started playing the game.

It's weird. I almost want to force everyone to sit down and spend a few hours playing Splatoon with gyro turned on. It takes a while to get used to I guess, but it's vastly superior to aiming with the control sticks.

@YummyHappyPills Try Tearaway, Gravity Rush or Infamous. Unfortunately, that's most of them.

I don't find the "PS4 crowd" is very embracing of anything that hasn't been the established norm for the last 3 generations of consoles. Dual analog or nothing. You can often see them slagging on motion and kb/m despite never having even tried them.
Not that everyone who has a PS4 is like that...just seems to be a general thing I often see, though.

I always find it fascinating when ps4 players are elitists. I can understand the logic behind the PC master race, they have clearly put much effort and money into the hobby. But ps4 owners? Anyone can buy and plug in a console. There is nothing special with it.

I'm one of those guys. Reason is that when I get used to motion controls, I can't enjoy handheld anymore. It happened with Mario Odyssey; totally unable to play that in handheld now.

@Therad I've been on PushSquare enough to learn how they think.

If it has motion - bad
If its a port of an old game that ISNT on PS4 - bad
If it isn't gritty and full of story - bad
Portable - bad

@Octane Of course it depends, but, in general, the number of Switch users open to gyro controls in DOOM (and with other games, too) is MUCH higher than the number of "hardcore" PS4 owners who the same game. As others have said, the Playstation community is almost religious about sticking with dual analog control methods.

Those Sony gamers are Really Pathetic.
I feel pity to them to not embrace the New way of playing.

I don't think it's even really about money or effort for PC Gaming elitism. It's more about having better options in terms of input and graphical settings if you have the hardware to take advantage of it. There's a reason why the majority of e-sports are on PC and it's not because more people are playing these games on PC.

Gran Turismo Sport uses motion very nicely. FYI.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

@Ralizah Well, it's the go-to machine right now, and all the big publishers are completely devoted to making their games as 'edgy' as possible. No fun allowed, only recycled gameplay! And apart from a few of Sony's franchises, there are hardly any games that try something different.

@Anti-Matter When's the last time you tried an 18+ game?

Octane

Octane

@gcunit I didn't know that! Too bad it's basically an always-online game. It was on my radar, but I'm not a fan of being locked to a server.

Alot of the bigger AAA games are decent fun, it's just to the point of oversaturation.

So with Switch only getting a small percentage of those bigger 3rd party games, it's fine because it's not enough to burn out on.

It's the middle market that I love. Don't get me wrong, there's some AAA game I do like, such as DOOM and Wolfenstein and the like... But most of them are meh. Like, if it came to Switch I'd probably pick it up for more handheld variety (because console variety has many genres oversaturated while handheld is building an army of releases still), but otherwise I really don't have enough interest to care. Like Black Ops 4. If it comes to Switch, sure, I'll give it a go. Just because the versatility of the console enhances the enjoyment and it helps fill out portable FPS variety. But on other consoles... nah. I'll wait for the bargain bin.

Most of the best games are the Valkyria Chronicles and the Dragon Quests and the like. Thankfully those are the ones that will most likely come to Switch.

Steins; Gate has been announced for Nintendo switch.

Sadly fire pro-wrestling only announced for PS4 this summer. I don't think that game will come

@toiletduck Not saying your opinion is wrong or anything, but BotW and Splatoon 2 can be played perfectly well in handheld mode with motion controls. It's not like Odyssey where you just waggle the controllers; you move the controller, or the entire system in handheld mode, to aim, which is a lot easier and more precise than just using the right stick imo.

Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music

my point was more that I can at least give PC gamers some slack in their elitism since it needs some effort, buying a ps4 doesn't require much effort. Although PC gaming is also pretty low effort nowadays. when I was young...
