@Ralizah Loot Boxes, cut-corners, and as life generally loves to teach you, it can shift into negative just as quickly. If one's pessimistic, at least they're warded against disappointment.

"what if these games aren't up to snuff"

Look dude, you can live your whole like afraid of "But what if". I will have no part of that sort of illogical fear mongering

If a port "isn't up to snuff" it'll still be a great game. FIFA was a great game. What, am I supposed to pretend I didn't enjoy it because it was missing a feature which puts it in your little "not up to snuff" category?

I care about GAMES. Not console wars. Not fanboy bragging rights. A game can be "not up to snuff" and still be an amazing game. DOOM doesn't have Snapchat. Guess that means its "not up to snuff". Guess I should clue in all these poor saps who are about to buy it that it doesn't mean squat, huh /s

@JaxonH I'll put it on agreeing to disagree. Merely pointing out that too much positivity can cloud one's judgement, take that as you will.

@UmniKnight
I'll say this:

If we can't even be excited for games coming, if we can't even be excited for developers all jumping aboard Switch development, if we can't ENJOY OUR FREAKING HOBBY without someone constantly whispering in our ears "not all clear yet, sales could drop off ya know, these games don't mean squat, they might not be up to snuff, you shouldn't be excited for developers all jumping on Switch, alot could go wrong ya know"...
Then I don't want any part of that conversation.

That's nonsense. We're getting games- we're happy, devs are making money- they're happy, more is on the way and everyone should be excited. Enough with the buzz killing.

No cloudy judgement here. Clear and level headed. We're getting tons of games, devs are happy with sales, more games are coming... That's exciting and I make no apologies for it

@JaxonH FIFA 18 may have been great on other platforms but it isn't on Switch. Its average review is in the mid 60's. That is not "a great game".

Ubisoft Will Release More Nintendo Switch Games
Switch sales are already big business for Ubisoft, so it's no big surprise to learn more are coming.

Guillemot was very vague, he could be talking about Steep and that Starlink game. Or maybe there will be all new games, hopefully not the likes of Just Dance.

@MegaTen As the Dutch say "Seeing is believing". I'll definitely be adding to my soon 9 stack of games, among which Rabbids was funnily enough the most entertaining third-party. It also seems that people question the exclusivity of that Tales game, or so I've heard.

@UmniKnight If you're going to fixate on the bad things, then bad things are going to be what fill your mind, and you'll lose the forest for the trees.

Gaming is a hobby. Hobbies are meant to bring you joy. If gaming isn't bringing you joy, then perhaps you ought to step back from it for a while and gain a sense of perspective.

@MegaTen An exclusive Tales of... game would be huge. I've never given the series a proper chance, but a Switch entry in the series would be the perfect opportunity to change that.

@Ralizah It's all I've got for entertainment, and generally, to fill my day with. Combination of being in a rough spot right now, and having been in a rough spot since my diagnosis. I was simply so wholly convinced that we'd see XX here by now, that it being shot down by Capcom and World being announced has simply jaded my view on things.

That, and it's hard to enjoy anything, when your not even sure where you'll be living in a little more than a month.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE You realise he's ignoring you right. Plus I don't think the Switch version of FIFA was ever going to get a fair shake from a lot of reviewers. A good majority were comparing it to the other console versions instead of rating it on it's own merits. Seeing as the Switch is not as powerful and some things maybe needed to be cut back I would say just from the looks of the game (having not played it but want to) it looks really good. Visually they did a good job and they hit 60fps. So missing a few modes doesn't make the game bad it just makes the game different.

Remember that all our hopes are just as justified as our fears.

We tend to think that negative is more likely because of loss aversion (The feeling of loosing $5 is worse than the feeling of getting $5).

@UmniKnight Sorry to hear that you're struggling!

I think Capcom dismissed the Switch early on and now they're in an awkward spot with regard to MH and supporting the platform in general. I think it's fair to say that we'll probably know where they stand with regard to the system next year.

I wish SEGA used more of their non-Sonic IPs more, even if in the form of HD remasters. Would be nice to be able to get games like Skies of Arcadia at a decent price.

I, for one, hope to see strong Indie games continue to come to the Switch. Crypt of the Necrodancer and Darkest Dungeon are already here, I'd be nice to see more.

Keep saying it and I'll say it again: Switch wasn't even conceptualized when MH World began development. Even the Wii U had just released a year prior. It's time to let that go. Not every game can make it to every system and Switch just wasn't around for this one. This series has always bounced from successful platform to successful platform. Which means the console first needs to demonstrate success before we'll get any new MH game. Switch is well on its way but... it's going to require patience. We have five or six good long years ahead of us- we will get a new MH game. Maybe even 2 or 3... just not World. They were practically done developing the game by the time Switch launched. And for all we know MHXX will be localized. They always wait 6-12 months after JP release before bringing the games west. So even if they were bringing it we wouldn't know about it yet. Which means it's premature to start distressing over it.

As for Tales, I would love a new exclusive game. Even just a multiplat would be fine. Whatever they're doing for their next game, we'll certainly be getting it. If we get Dark Souls though my brother will flip. That's his absolute favorite game series of all time- all he wanted to see on Switch was Zelda, Skyrim and Dark Souls. If they brought the trilogy that would just be absolutely killer.

Speaking of FIFA 18...

I think it definitely wasn't the rock solid port NBA 2K18 was. However, it had a few things going for it NBA didn't. For one, it was 1080p/60fps. That right there means the gameplay is high-quality. You can't even get that on dedicated home consoles from last gen, yet this portable provides it. So you are getting an experience that trumps last gen and you're getting it on a handheld device.

For two, the game was completely on cart. I know that might be a minor thing but it is definitely a huge plus for me. Besides all that, the game was basically perfect... aside from 2 things: no friend invites (that said, if you don't want to play FIFA online with friends then this is not an issue for you, and I didn't even want to play the game online at all, much less with friends who don't own it). The second thing was lack of Journey mode. Now at first, I kind of wrote that off but after playing NBA 2K18 MyCareer I can see the appeal. So it definitely sucks that it wasn't included, but, at the end of the day you buy the game to play soccer, and all the actual gameplay modes of soccer were included. From FUT to Women's League, Training, Online, Tournaments, Career, Single Match, you name it. It's all there.

FIFA 18 will forever be one of those games which naysayers bash on technicalities, looking to trounce any Switch game for which they smell blood in the water, but it will also forever be one of those games that are absolutely amazing despite not being perfect.

I'd triple dip on Skies of Arcadia HD (had the original on Dreamcast and the remake on GameCube)

Give a man £100 and he'll be happy. Give the man next to him £101 and the first man will only ever talk about the extra £1 he didn't get...

I think it's clear now that Switch will get better support - both 1st and 3rd party -going forwards than Wii U. And much better than 3DS which was never even in the discussion for downscaled ports of current gen games.

Even if it wasn't going to get better 3rd party support it'd still be a better prospect than either 3ds or Wii U due to Nintendo consolidating their resources. No '2014 was an awesome year for 3ds and terrible for Wii U but then 2015 was the opposite way around' situation for Switch.

We're also seeing indies find incredible success on Switch and the quality and scale of ambition of the top indie games is continuing to grow.

So why care about what we're not getting?

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Unfortunately we have to instead listen to you and your consistant cretinous diatribes on your continued pathetic existence on this website with all the positiveness of a Deep Sea Angler-fish that insists on wearing a Waffen SS Uniform.
