@ProjectX1991 Its good to hear people enjoy the random crap I think up. I don't strive to be a voice of reason but whatever right?
I just get jaded easily. Other people can knock my mood down very easily, suh is living with PC Master Race people.
I don't know what posts you saw, but thank you. I hope to one day be able to entertain with a title of my own.
PC master race people are the worst kind. PC does have a lot of advantages over consoles, but they can never accept that some people just prefer different things, and that consoles do have some advantages of their own, especially consoles like the Switch.
@KirbyTheVampire Well folk around here know how I like my games and hardware. Wont repeat that for the god knows 100th time.
And no moment right now do I feel like I am playing something underpowered. In fact, for what it IS doing and for its cost and form factor, Id say its overpowered, far more than Id expect from it.

Day 2: The system is really starting to grow on me. I've been using the Joycon in the grip consistently now, and it's starting to ALMOST feel natural. Zelda is amazing, of course. I'm super worried about scratching the screen putting it in and out of the dock, so I think I'll apply the screen protector.
Like others have said, I do miss some of the Nintendo "feel" to the UI with sounds and stuff. The UI is quick and pretty sleek, but it does feel empty. I hope they beef it up relatively soon.
It's so weird, because when I opened my Wii U and started using it, I had this WOW kind of feeling instantly. But that feeling started to dissipate pretty quickly as ownership continued. With the Switch, I'm kind of feeling the opposite. I didn't have that WOW feeling like I did with the Wii U, but things are slowly starting to occur to me. Like - "Huh... I can just pop out the console and play it a bit before bed. Pretty neat" (which I totally did lol) and "Cool... I can set this puppy up on the table, pass a Joycon to my wife, and we can mess around on Snipperclips while we're watching basketball/baseball/golf/whatever."
It's REALLY versatile, the more I continue to use it and discover things about it.
I invested in the Pro controller, and even though it was kind of expensive, I think it'll be well worth it in the long run. It feels really natural in my hands, and I basically have no complaints. Plus, it's convenient to just leave the JoyCons on the Switch all the time so that I can just pull the whole thing out of the dock instead of fiddling around with them when I want to play with it off the TV. Not gonna be doing that until my tempered glass screen protector I ordered from Amazon arrives, though. Until then, it's staying in the dock. I don't want a scratched screen under any circumstances, and it definitely seems like you could easily do that when docking and undocking it.
So back. I think I will wait on the switch. Zelda isn't enough for me and to be honest, and this is just my.subjective opinion, between the lack of online and os features and low game quantity, the system and its launch feel half baked. There is no way that this was the original plan.
@WebHead
Of course it wasn't! But dang, for a rushed release it's a pretty solid piece of "kit," as they say. It's barebones, but solid. The eShop is pretty sad-looking right now lol But gosh darn it if the thing doesn't feel pretty spectacular to game on.
And Zelda. Erm... what the heck am I doing here?! Back to Zelda lol
@WebHead Hopefully all of the hiccups get worked out. All the issues with desyncing of controllers etc. I am still going to wait to see what 3rd party and first party games get announced before I buy one though. would hate to buy the switch and have Nintendo announce some stupid metroid or starfox game that I am not into and be dissapointed. Thats the problem with Nintendo sometimes they like to mess with the formula that made some of their best franchises great. Snes was my favorite Nintendo console and I want to see a return to form with those franchises. I would also like to see some of my favorite 3rd parties jump on board before I commit.
So after a full day of gaming, I have to say the Switch has grown on me in almost every way. I spent day one playing mostly separate joy cons, as my girlfriend is in love with 1 2 Switch. Today has been Zelda day, for the first half of the day I played in portable mode, which started my love for it to rising. I had lowered expectations completely the week of launch, but I have to say this portable feels so right. Say whatever you want, the potential for this is there to be the best portable gaming machine to date.
I took a few hour break from gaming midday(waking the dog, making dinner, eating with the little lady) but started playing again about 8, this time Zelda on the big screen. And I'm impressed. The reputed lag has not been noticeable to me at all. The fear I had of playing with the joycon grip has been unfounded. While it does feel smaller than I'm used to, a hour in hand and I had adapted. I'm not uncomfortable at all, so much so that I'm holding off on buying the pro until there is a sale.
Best thing I can say, I have legends of berseria, yakuza 0 and resident evil 7 on my PS4, and none of have been touched since I got the Switch 😉
@Rumncoke25 Well just because the switch is fun doesnt mean you still can't enjoy the games you bought on the ps4 haha that sounds like a waste of money.
I'm in the slightly awkward position of having ordered the Pro Controller having decided the JC Grip didn't feel natural enough for extended Zelda sessions, and now... I appear to have completely got used to it. Still, I'm sure the Pro will be nice when it arrives, and it'll be good not having to swap the JCs between grip and console.
It still messes me up whenever I undock it though. When it's in the dock, I think of the actual system about as much as any other home console. i.e. Not at all. But then I take it out, and it's like, "WHAT IS MY GAME STILL DOING HERE IN THIS BOX AAAH!!!".
I'm really, REALLY glad I got the Switch version of Zelda (and obviously, a Switch). The lineup is going to be pretty irresistible come Christmas, and paying any sort of early adopter's tax is worth it for the perfection of playing Zelda wrapped up in bed. It's exquisite.
I noticed on the Switch online service page that it initially says "dedicated smartphone app", but then everywhere else on the page it just says "smart device". Maybe you can use tablets and such too?
Despite the Switch having faster memory than the Wii U, it seems as if Nintendo focused on using the improved resources to output the Breath of the Wild in 900p instead of providing better texture detail at 720p. The Switch runs a home console video game on a fully portable console without breaking a sweat.
As I said, it is a mystery that it has frame drops in 900p. If it would indeed have double clock speed, which would give it roughly twice the processing power of handheld mode. Double processing power can be used to up the fps or increase resolution or add details to the world. So it should run botw at the same consistent fps in both docked and handheld modes.
But as we know, it runs smoother in handheld mode. Why? Either they have opted for lower clock speed in docked mode, or they have some trickery in handheld mode. If it is the former, they could have opted for higher/more stable fps or maybe higher resolution. If it is the latter, I am curious to what it could be.
If you are not interested in this, why are you arguing?
@Therad
There's probably some other bottleneck which pushes it a bit closer to the limit then the game is running at a higher resolution. Especially given that the issue is more likely to appear when moving into a new area. If I was to take a guess I'd say it's probably RAM because that's the main component involved in both. I'm not convinced that the GPU itself is the bottleneck here.
But again, this game is essentially is a Wii U port. It's hard to know how much of it has hardware and how much of it is Wii U baggage holding them back. Super Mario Odyssey is going to be the real test of what the Switch is capable of.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
Welp, it looks like Nintendo could get sued for false advertising. Joy-cons can't be used wirelessly in airplane mode yet the reveal trailer showed someone doing exactly that.
@Grumblevolcano Does that trailer count as an ad? Were getting into is Watch_Dogs false advertising at that point.
And on that note did anyone with half a skull expect wireless, signal using controllers, to be allowed in airplane mode which disables all signaals for the ebenfit of an airplane as it takes off?
Easy argument. Wireless was used once in the air after take off.
Iunno if its that big of a problem at that point. But hey, sue away guys.
