Unfortunately it seems my Switch and Zelda will arrive on Monday...and i pre-ordered both on January 13th. That is quite frustrating.

@FGPackers I got mine at 23:58 last night. It's fantastic and it's worth the wait buddy.

Anyone know if you can connect the Switch to an ethernet cable?

If you do a search on Nintendo Switch LAN Adapter, looks like HORI is coming out with one. It would connect to the USB on the Switch TV dock. Doesn't appear to be shipping yet.

@KirbyTheVampire
I currently have mine docked and connected via the Wii Ethernet dongle. So yes you can connect it that way. And while I'm on the topic it's worth pointing out that transitioning from wired to wireless is seamless. When setting mine up I picked it up to enter in my Nintendo Account details via the touch screen. Docked and undocked it a couple of times and it was obviously swapping between wired and wireless. Zero issues.

Oh, sweet! Good thing I bought a Wii all those years ago, lol. And yeah, I'm glad everything about docking and undocking it is so seamless. I was honestly expecting a pretty big delay.

Alright, thanks. I'll probably just use the Wii ethernet dongle if that works, though, since I already have one.

I got my Switch last night at Walmart. I waited in line for several hours (indoors, and they really did a good job with the logistics), but they had more than enough in stock and could have gotten one if I walked in at midnight. The line was about 10 long by midnight and they had like 30 extra (not for pre-orders). Ironically, the supply of accessories was extremely constrained compared to the console and Zelda. Only had 3 screen protectors and unfortunately the person before me in line took the last one.

One Gamestop, on the other hand, I knew was already going to sell out of their extra stock at midnight. Another one in a shopping mall said they were only going to have less than 10 for the morning opening and they had 50 people inquiring over phone in an hour period last night. And they had no idea when they were going to get more.

If I had gone to Best Buy, I would have had to wait outside and I heard they were doing some sort of ticket system for those waiting in line and they weren't even going to be handing out those tickets until a 11pm.

So basically Walmart was the best decision and it just seemed like people weren't even thinking that they could get a Switch at Walmart and avoid the headaches of all the other stores in the area.

I honestly hope it tanks at this point.

Nintendo said they expected to sell around 2 million by the end of the month.. there was a Bloomberg article today mentioning shares rising since they appear to be on track for that.
Earlier there was a Forbes article with an analyst predicting a sluggish sales of 5 million by the end of the year.
Assuming Nintendo meets or exceeds their 2 million by the end of the month, I would think that it's going to easily beat that 5 million by the end of the year short of a horrible reception in the coming months. I think it's a lot smarter approach this time to launch in March. Meet the demand for all the dedicated fans, keep a gradual but steady stream of games to maintain some momentum and buy some time for third party developers in time for the holiday season.

@BLP_Software I know this doesn't make the frustration any easier, but are you aware that the UK Nintendo store (which I think is where you ordered from) is run by the Hut Group, not by Nintendo themselves?

So sure, it's a shame Nintendo can't ensure a better service, but it's the Hut Group that are directly responsible, plus Royal Mail, depending on what's gone on with your package.

Anyway, I'm keeping them crossed for you...

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

Haruki_NLI

@gcunit Well regardless, its their licensed store. They have some degree of control.

See, this is my thing. Im a shiny little optimist and thats gotten me so much bs in the past few days and since getting the Wii U.

Ive understood and just been the middleground for some of the dexisions that people hate about this company.

For me to actually be aggravated is both incredibly rare and so far nothing has gone right with this situation.

Heres the worst bit: As you said it also depends on the situation with my package. But thats the thing. I dont know whats gone on. I have no information beyond a tracking number no courier knows.

So where is my investment? Is it still in a warehouse? En route? In my city? I dont know.

All I do know is my money is gone with nothing to show for it. And that annoys me. Thats what has me annoyed the most. Not friend codes. Not VC. Not My Nintendo. The fact I have spent money and I have literally nothing for it.

Are you feeling all right? You've been pretty positive about the Switch launch...

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Yeah, the straps are super hard to get off. Not very sure if I'll bother using them again if it's going to be that tricky.

Boy was I terrified at 12:30 last night. The first thing I do is unpack the joy-cons and try to click it onto everything possible. The first thing that catches my eye are the straps. I squeeze them on, and right away, I was almost sure I broke my $300 device I just bought without even getting to try it yet.

Got married.

Got my Switch. Spend most of the first hour fiddling around with settings and language options. From what I can see, it is necessary to have an account registered in the country whose eShop you'd like to use, but creating one of these is straightforward - the main awkward point being the need to have it linked to a separate email address. Browsing (say) the Japanese eShop in English currently seems impossible, even with both language and region set to English and Europe respective. There's simply a message stating that the account's eShop is not supported in this language, so it gets changed upon entry.

Currently trying to make a purchase from the JP eShop, but my Visa details seem to not be working, which is slightly surprising as the same card worked fine on the 3DS Japanese eShop. Hopefully I can budge things forward somehow.

Yeah the switch feels so tiny. It's even more impressive how powerful it is. They out did themselves in the form factor. I hope for a bigger tablet and joycons in the future, though. Oh and less bezel.

But it's very nice feeling. There's a satisfying click to the buttons. The lack of a dpad isn't an issue yet but obviously I'll feel it when I play a 2d game.

@Aslanmagic Of course I am. I'm interested on getting it ever since it was revealed.

But I'll play the wait and see until the last week of this month to join in.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.
