So from the Nindies thing I want Mr Shifty, Flipping Death, Steamworld Dig 2, Yooka Laylee, Shakedown Hawaii, Blaster Master Zero and Snake Pass. Wargroove and Pocket Rumble could tempt me too depending on reviews and word of mouth.
The only noticeable absentees were Little Devil Inside and Bloodstained since they are far off Wii U releases I'd assumed would be switched over.
If Yooka-Laylee has a automatic camera, then I'm completely sold on it. I don't know how much I like the new camera angle in Runner3, but it's definitely a must-buy. WarGroove should tide me over until Fire Emblem next year. Stardew Valley seems a little interesting. What exactly is Fast RMX?
Wow - I'm pretty floored by the number of timed exclusives and straight-up exclusives (for now) from the Indies presentation. That's pretty impressive.
Since they'll never be able to get similar exclusivity deals with third parties, it's smart of them to wipe the floor with similar deals in the indie scene. Personally, I couldn't care less about 99% of indie games, but it's still great that Nintendo are embracing them as they are.
I agree, I've never dipped in to the Indie pool. I try to stick with what I think I'll enjoy playing. I really want to try and get into the Indie games with the Switch, it's just finding a decent game to take the plunge with.
I've just realised there's nothing from Curve announced which is odd since they were such great supporters of the Wii U eshop and had Action Hank and Hue announced for Wii U.

Yea, I'm the same way - I really don't play indie games. I got Stardew Valley on PC, of course, but I stopped soon because I just couldn't help but think it would be SO much better playing it on console. So I'm super glad I'll be able to get it on Switch in the summer!
I did play Runner2 on the Wii U, and I loved it, so I'll probably pick up Runner3. Aside from that, I don't know if I'll get anything else. That one kingdom building game looked interesting, but honestly I get kind of turned off from all these indies that just want to rehash 8bit/16bit-looking graphics all the time. It's kinda played out in my mind.
@rallydefault I'm the same way. I'm tired of the whole retro thing that it seems most indies go for. But that's why games that go beyond that like fast rmx and yooka laylee are some of the first indie games I'm very excited for
Pretty jealous of people who enjoy indie games. The only one that got announced that I know for a fact that I like is Stardew Valley. The rest I really don't care about. I might look into Yooka-Laylee and Snake Pass when they come out, though.
What I get will depend on timing, pricing and reviews I suspect. I have so many indie games I've never even touched thanks to humble bundles. But there were some decent looking games in that bunch. Plenty of games to choose from.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
@KirbyTheVampire Try and think of indie games as the gap filler for the next 1st or 3rd party games.
I am very impressed with this Nindie presentation. It made the indie developers shine brighter even more than ever. Let's hope this will be the same with other developers.
Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

Yeah, that's true, and there are some gems that come every once in a while. In my opinion though, those are few and far between. The number of big budget titles that I own is far more than the indies. Not that they're bad, but IMO they're a dime a dozen, and most aren't very memorable. All the retro-style 2D sidescrollers and other small games start to blend together after a while. I'd rather save my money for the big budget games, for the most part anyway. I'll probably invest in a few here and there, though.
Well clearly you've been playing the wrong indie games.
2-3 years ago I specifically decided to buy 20+ eShop games. So I went back to my list and:
1. Crimson Shroud (a unique take on JRPGs inspired by old school D and D and dice)
2. NES Remix (ironically, most of the retro games in this are not platformers)
3. Child of Light (a JRPG inspired game by Ubisoft)
4. Stick it to the Man (a weird point and click comedy game thing)
5. Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition (an actual old school platformer that plays nothing like any old school platformer game of its era)
6. Shovel Knight (the definitive retro inspired 2d platformer)
7. Armillo (a 3d, top-down platformer)
8. Gunman Clive (a retro inspired platformer that looks nothing like a retro game)
9. SHUT THE BOX (a super basic numbers game thing)
10. Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails (a unique platformer, shooter, puzzle, just look it up I can't define it to a genre game)
11. Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (old school beat em up arcade games)
12. Teslagrad (a puzzle platformer with magnets)
13. Lone Survivor (a straight up Silent Hill inspired horror game)
14. Costume Quest 2 (Paper Mario with framerate issues (srsly wtf Double Fine))
15. Thomas Was Alone (minimilist puzzle platformer/story game)
16. ZaciSa's Last Stand (tower defense)
17. Steamworld Dig (Terraria meets Metroidvania)
18. Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale (clearly a 2d retro inspired platformer :V)
19. Fractured Soul (a puzzle platformer about taking advantage of the 2 screens on the 3DS)
20. escapeVektor (you move across lines to...ok another game where wtf is even its genre)
21. Color Zen (a straight up puzzle game)
22. Whoa Dave (a retro inspired platformer in the real old school sense. Like arcade Mario Bros old)
Considering that it's me and that it's Nintendo's systems, and when they weren't at peak popularity, I feel this list is actually very biased TOWARDS retro inspired 2d platformers. So in terms of games actually worth looking into that would be known about, this is peak level retro inspired 2d platformers. There is no higher average of them in terms of things anyone cares about. And most of them are vastly different games outside of those elements.
It's such a weak excuse for anything. Just be honest and say "I don't care". It's like saying you don't want to check out big budget games because they're all open world. And there are FAR less big budget games per year then good "indie" games, so objectively, it's a more valid complaint still!
