@Maxz Each Nintendo Switch profile is linked to a Nintendo Account. This means each individual user profile on Switch can access a different regional store should you wish. They did announce this info

@Maxz Cheers.I think I'll email Nintendo to ask them.I think the last time I emailed them was back in 2008 when I received my Wii back from repair minus all my many purchased titles.Hopefully they won't keep me waiting too long for a reply.I'll let you know what they say.

@rallydefault We haven't seen the Wii U version since E3. You can't really compare them; Old Wii U build versus the final Switch build. We'll see what the difference is next week, because I don't think Nintendo is going to release a comparison video!

@BLP_Software I understand them though. Xbox One kinda needs the exclusives. They were just compensating

Spawnwave just did an excellent video on the JoyCon problems. Check it out.

Glad to see I'll have hunters here when the eventual MH game drops for the Switch.

@Ersatz I've just watched it on YouTube. It was interesting, and somewhat reassuring.

Speaking of YouTube, @Octane , I've fixed the weird display problems! For some reason, the site has switched itself Mobile mode on my Desktop browser. I simply scrolled to the bottom of the screen, and switched it back to Desktop mode.

Is the interface still dodgy for you? If so, I think this should work.

Thanks for plugging me to that video... that's the most logical explanation I've heard yet (cause it did seem fishy, shouldn't cut out from your body blocking it).

And yes, you'll see me there day one for the hunt. No question.

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions

They will look on Me whom they pierced

@JaxonH @Maxz @Ersatz
I saw that video, too. His reasoning is pretty sound, as long as it is indeed true that the Joycons are outputting at pretty much the same strength as something like the Dualshock 4.

Even before seeing Spawn Wave's video, though, I was thinking this is something that should be very fixable through firmware. They can definitely patch signal strength.

If this does for some reason turn out to be a hardware defect, though - holy cow.

@rallydefault
I think he's pretty much spot on in that video. I find it hard to believe it's a hardware design fault. Because when push comes to shove the JoyCon is pretty much entirely plastic. Very unlikely the design itself is the issue. It could be a defective batch of bluetooth chips and if that's the case then it probably won't be very widespread. The review units just happened to be unlucky to be a dodgy batch.

But I think a bug in the firmware seems like the most likely reason. It does seem to be behaving as if it's in a lower power mode which is what I said earlier in the thread. Spawn Wave does have a better theory about why that might be happening than I did but the end result is the same. Firmware update, make sure the Bluetooth signal isn't running in a low power mode.

Whatever it is I don't think we'll see it as consumers. And as far as early firmwares for consoles go? This is hardly the worst bug I've seen. I remember early on with the Wii U my console would just randomly lock up. I think it did it about three times before a firmware update about a month after launch resolved it. I would've returned if it not for the fact that others were reporting the same issue online. I haven't seen any reports of bugs like that for the Switch.

So the idea came to me: HD Rumble feedback in Monster Hunter.

Imagine feeling a hit or attack from your weapon, and imagine getting feedback from how hard a monster attacks. Hitstun already plays a great deal to make attacks feel effective, and an added layer of sense may make the game really fun to play on the Switch.

Something else that might be kinda cool is if, for example, a monster did a lightning attack, you'd feel a sort of tingling sensation. That would probably get pretty annoying after a while in a game like Monster Hunter where fights last a long time, though. Maybe in a different game.

@skywake
I remember the Wii U lockups. I had probably a half-dozen or so of those: super annoying.

But honestly, the thing that's really terrible about the Joycon stuff is that, even if we don't see it as consumers (they patch it), all of these reviewers have already been talking about it, and they're definitely going to include it in their final reviews. The internet crowd is going to see that and, if they haven't already, go into their usual rabid remarks and write off the console altogether. Not the way the Switch needed to be launched.

Who is playeressence?

I used to frequent PlayerEssence regularly back in the early Wii U days. But the membership there is almost exclusively rabid Nintendo fanboys... with a few exceptions. And I mean to the Nth degree. You can't say anything even remotely negative or they jump you like a pack of hounds. And it doesn't even have to be negative. Anything not 110% Pro-Nintendo is considered heresy. That one person who types in all CAPs is the biggest fanboy I've ever seen in my life. Ever. "Stupid, racist Sony and their garbage movie games, Nintendo is the only one blah blah blah".

Francis is cool, but he's a totally different person in the comments. Very stubborn, blatantly rude and can't admit when he's wrong. I'm a pretty big Nintendo fan, and yet people are so blinded over there that for a while I was labeled as a Sony Loyalist Nintendo hater. Me. Of all people... If you knew me, you would understand extraordinarily ridiculous that assertion is.

I still like Francis though (he actually plays other games), even despite how he acts in the comment section sometimes... it's the membership that I can't stomach. They've been shouting how great Wii U is and how horrible PS4 and X1 is all throughout the Wii U's lifespan. I can only imagine how emboldened they've become with brazen ignorance now that Nintendo actually has a slick, sexy console dropping and a killer game.

Also got tired of every single blog post being about Switch. Now that would be totally acceptable with the system nearly upon us, but for six months straight there was nothing but Switch rumor articles as far as the eye could see. Used to have news updates for PS4 and Xbox and PC, not a lot but a few speckled throughout (although they were all wastelands in the comment section because not one single member on the entire site cared about anything other than Nintendo- couldn't even say something like hey this game looks cool, they just stuck their heads in the sand when it came to any other console). But after checking that site every day for months and seeing nothing but Switch, Switch, Switch, Switch rumors when there was literally nothing newsworthy to talk about... like guys, there's plenty of news going on for other consoles that you're ignoring completely, just to put 437 switch articles up here this month without a single drip of real news. That's when I decided to split

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)

Please stop now with all the talk of what HD rumble can bring to Monster Hunter! My heart can't take it anymore...
