And yet you're worried about not getting the Nintendo games that you want to play. They never went away.

Nintendo doesn't care if 1-2-Switch is on the same console as Zelda or if Just Dance is on the same console as Mario Odyssey. Nintendo doesn't care if 5 million "core gamers" enjoy Super Smash Bros. or if 50 million "casual gamers" enjoy Wii Sports. All Nintendo cares about is making the video games they enjoy making, making video games gamers enjoy playing, and making a profit from those video games. There's enough great video games for everyone.

Why is this argument still going on? Yes, in my personal ideal world, or "dream world" if you will, Nintendo wouldn't put any effort into casual games like 1-2 Switch, and would instead focus on only making games that appeal to the core gamer. I know that will never happen, and never has happened, and I'm not sitting here crying that it isn't happening. I honestly don't care much at all about the issue. I just saw the discussion about casual vs hardcore games on the Switch, and said I could sympathize with people who wanted more games that appeal to the core gamer, since that's typically the kind of game I enjoy.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Andd this is news how?

Ive said this before. PS4 does this too. If you can take your account data to more than one system at once, just buy a game and put your login on the internet and everyone has it. There has to be a hardware lock somewhere.

Switch game downloads can’t be shared across multiple systems
Purchases can apparently only be on one system at a time.

I am not sure anyone thought you would be able to install a download game on multiple consoles concurrently.

Switch games list,

Legend of Zelda BotW, Human resource machine, NBA Playgrounds, Street Fighter 2, Super Bomberman R, Snipperclips, Overcooked, World of Goo.

I'm just reporting the news. Not condemning it.

Hey on the bright side: Nintendo allows you to change User ID for free, while Microsoft charges you money for that, and Sony doesn't care about it.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

It kinda bugs me that you can't use any capital letters in your user ID. I wonder why that is?

Maybe it's a sort of Steam account thing and specific games let you pick a name for that game?

Am I right in thinking the embargo ends tomorrow and we might get some previews?

@BigBadJohn Yes, the embargo ends tomorrow for the previews, the reviews won't be up until March 1.

@Octane coolio I'm starved for information. Nintendo have been awfully quiet of late.

That article is pretty stupid. Every console launch requires additional purchases. At the very least a system and a launch game that you want to play (pack ins don't cut it for everyone). Additional controllers if you play with more than one person, carrying cases/console cases, the list goes one...and is not exclusive to nintendo. I buy a new phone case when I upgrade my phone too.

Either way I am very ready for the switch release. Got my system, zelda and bomberman on lock. I'll be turning off my phone that weekend.

@FGPackers Why? I think it's spot on.

-There is no mandatory 3GB install for BOTW, only the Wii U

-Many of the multiplayer games (Mario Kart, Snipperclips, 1-2 Switch, Bomberman) work straight out of the box, no additional controllers needed.

  • A Joy Con grip is only 15 dollars, not 30. 30 is for the charging grip which is not required.

Thats three things right there that are at best blatantly misrepresented in the article.

Doesn't that expensive part pretty much ring true on any gaming console or any hobby you plan to make any investment in?

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

I don't agree about the expensive argument needing to die, it's a perfectly valid argument. You have to take into account that the Switch is releasing just under 3.5 years into a long generation. The Switch's current prices would've been justifiable if it released in 2013/2014 but now you have something like:

  • Switch (£280) + Pro Controller (£60) + Game (£50) = £390
  • 500GB XB1 S with free game (£230) + Game (£50) = £280
  • 500GB PS4 Slim with free game (£250) + Game (£50) = £300

Pretty steep difference just for the ability to play on the go wouldn't you say if you consider the view of a general customer wanting a console.

Of course pricing isn't why I'm waiting, the poor launch window lineup is.

But again, think of how expensive the other systems were when they launched. I don't think Nintendo should price their brand new system super low just so that the price is comparable to a console that has been out since 2013 and probably only has like 2 years left in it's lifecycle. The price difference will probably have an impact on sales, but how large of an impact remains to be seen. After all, a lot of people bought their PS4 or Xbones years ago. And the fact that the PS4 and Xbone are so cheap now means people could feasibly buy both. I got my PS4 about 3 or 4 weeks ago, but I still plan on picking up a Switch, probably in the summer when Splatoon 2 comes out. That will be the last system I pick up for another 6 years or so though, lol.

I really hope Zelda and Mario Odyssey are the amazing games we're all hoping for. Nintendo really needs that if they're gonna pull off a successful first year in spite of the Wii U and the affordable price of the competition.
