Tough question as there are a lot if brilliant games on the Switch. But here are ten games that I truly enjoy (without any particular order):
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Super Mario Odyssey
Dark Souls
Diablo III
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Ys VIII
Octopath Traveler
Splatoon 2
The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim
I have way too many Switch games for a Top 10, so I’ll just do a Top 18 from best to worst. Why only 18? My backlog includes 12 more games I haven’t played enough to evaluate.
1. Smash Ultimate: No explanation required.
2. Hollow Knight: Coming into this, I was expecting pure frustration. I did achieve this, but trying to get 100% is so fun, would recommend to those new to Metroidvanias.
3. Breath of the Wild: It’s Zelda, no explanation required.
4. Super Mario Odyssey: Great open world Mario, but still feel 64 DS is just a tad better, but that is most likely nostalgia.
5. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: A mashup I never thought would be good. Great game for those new to tactics games.
6. Super Mario Party: The cars are gone and the party is back.
7. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove: Don’t have anything to say that hasn’t already been said.
8. Runbow: Lots of fun multiplayer content, but lacking a little in single player.
9. Sonic Mania: Amazing game, it’s just a little too frustrating at points.
10. Astro Bears Party: Stupid multiplayer fun.
11. Mario Tennis Aces: The best sports game I’ve ever played.
12. Rayman Legends: Another great game, but some levels are very frustrating to get all the Teensies.
13. Worms W.M.D: Controls aren’t the best, but it’s still a good Worms game.
14: One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3: Definitely not a bad game, just very niche and can be tedious at points.
15. Slime-San: Great game, super frustrating.
16. Blaster Master Zero: Very good game, just a bit short.
17. Rocket League: No reason for being so low, just doesn’t get much playtime
18. Splatoon 2: Same as RL.
Reading: Too much Watching: Not enough Playing: SMTV
1. Super Mario Odyssey
2. Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Well, the Switch has two titles of interest to me to call its own now. I suppose that's something... I guess. Honorable mentions go to Okami HD and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Both great games that I can not credit to the Switch since they are just ports.
These are the tops out of about 50 games I actually own - I'm dead certain Civ 6 would be here but I haven't bought it (it's on my Christmakuh list). Also, I'm not concerned about exclusivity since the Switch is my only modern console.
they say that life’s a carousel, spinning fast you’ve got to ride it well. The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams. It’s heaven and hell.
Mario Odyssey
Zelda Breath of the Wild
Katamari Damacy
Wonderboy The Dragon's Trap
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Ikaruga

Dragonball FighterZ
Super Smash Bros Ultimate
R-Type Dimensions
1. Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
2. Shovelknight Treasure Trove

Runnersup. Compilations:
Nintendo Switch Online NES, Namco Arcade Pac, SNK 40th Anniversary, Sega Genesis Classics, Atari Flashback Classics, Capcom Beatemup Bundle, Megaman Legacy Collection 1+2, and Megaman X Legacy Collection. Essential to me, but being packs of old games I felt they violated the spirit of the contest.
No particular order
1. Xenoblade chronicles 2
2. Shantae half-genie hero
3. Wonder boy the dragon’s trap
4. Ark survival evolved
5. The messenger
6. Super Mario odyssey
7. Owl boy
8. Ys lacrimosa of Dana
9: Wolfenstein 2
10. Bayonetta 1 and 2
I've got over 200 Switch games and there's so many that I love so just picking ten is almost impossible. Here's a very rough list but there's a lot of very worthy games that I haven't listed. I've tried to focus on games that either launched around the same time on Switch to other platforms (same year) or were significantly improved on the Switch, rather than ports.
1. Celeste
2. Splatoon 2
3. Xenoblade Chronicles 2
4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
5. Just Shapes & Beats
6. Deemo
7. Battle Chef Brigade
8. Golf Story
9. GRIS
10. Iconoclasts
1. Super Smash Brothers Ultimate
2. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
3. Super Mario Odyssey
4. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu
5. ARMS
6. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (w/ Golden Country DLC)
7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
8. Bayonetta
9. Mutant Mudds Collection
10. Snipperclips
If Xenoblade Chronicles 2 didn't have such a performance gap between handheld and docked mode, the game probably would be my favorite Switch game especially with the Golden Country DLC included. I just haven't been able to get into the game like I've wanted to or should've had its performance quality been on level with other Nintendo Switch titles from Nintendo.
Wow, I'm surprised I didn't post my faves here. They're in no particular order, with the exception of the top 4.
Super Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Super Mario Maker 2
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Sonic Mania Plus
Blaster Master Zero
Super Mario Party
Mario Tennis Aces
