@VoidofLight They all want it to be the same, but I like the change this one brings.

Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

Sorry for not being active much recently, but I’m very much alive!

VoidofLight

@Snatcher It's not really change, but the fact that some of these reviewers went in, never playing the series before, and expecting it to be one way, when it's the opposite. It sounds like this game is a fairly standard warioware game, but with extra characters and a multiplayer mode which seems to be optional, even though it's touted as the main way to play.

I'm always a bit more suspicious of mixed reviews for games outside of obvious gaming genres or are meant to be replayed. This one's kinda both, so...yeah.

@kkslider5552000 Yeah, generally reviews for games like these, who reach niche audiences, always seem to fail to captivate people who shouldn't be reviewing them in general.

Yep.

Really doubt many of the outlets reviewing this have much or any experience with the series, and simply just don't get it. Don't profess to be an expert then on the game, and don't spruik your word on the game to be taken as gospel.

I get that WarioWare is not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine, but as someone who has been the playing the series for more than 15 years, this latest entry has been well-received by me after picking it up this afternoon and playing it for a few hours.

Suspect many fans of the series would feel the same way.

I guess it's one of those things where if people don't get it, they simply should just move right along and leave it be.

Has anyone tried out the Wario Cup?
Hope I stay in rank A the next few days. I'm in the top 3% still, so I'm pretty save I guess. 😂
Have a lot of fun. For some reason I had a hard time with Mona's Boss Stage, until I got used to the objects.

I love the game but really feel there should be a beginners mode in the main game where you can just play as a single character. The multiple characters thing is tremendous fun for me but makes it very hard to play with casual or non gamers as it's a bit much to take in... Unusual for Nintendo.

Would be great if I could play with my sister (who only plays stuff like Mario Kart or Wii Sports type games) and just have her play as Young Cricket or someone simple.

So which characters are good and which sucks?

I think the ones that can throw projectiles and move freely are the best, like Ashley. The worst ones so far are mother and son Volt, their abilities work in some games, but in others they are really bad.

Loving this game so far btw. 😁

I just can't stop playing it... it's so incredibly addictive! My top score is 6720, and I'm in the top 3% like yourself. I am determined to break 7000! 😆

Managed to play this a bit over the weekend and I'm really enjoying it.

That said, I really have mixed feelings on the new style of play. It's interesting...but I kinda miss just having more traditional microgames as well. Controlling characters is certainly enjoyable, and means you're always thinking on your feet...but I feel like the core microgames have been made ever more basic as a result. It's fun, but I don't really see it as a replacement or an upgrade over the core WarioWare gameplay.

Maybe it would've been nice to have a "2-in-1" type deal where half of the game is traditional microgames, with the other half taking this more experimental approach.

@Quarth I think my main issue with the new gameplay style is how unbalanced the characters are, with some characters being objectively worse to use than others (mostly due to lack of control / auto-movement). E.g. Kat and Ana are worse versions of Dribble and Spitz, 9-Volt is a worse version of Mike...

Personally I really like Mona so far. Free movement + boomerang is an excellent combo.

@Buizel
You really think the microgames are too basic? I played every WarioWare game. I think the games are as "basic" as they've always been.
The characters are the main gimmick of the game. Like the touchscreen in Touched or motion controls in Smooth Moves. The developers are well aware that some characters are bad in a microgame and some are easy. There are indicators in Wariopedia. Green, orange and red smileys.

@Ooyah
My score is 6840. I can only manage to win 30 out of the 34 games. How much I even try. :')
Is there a way to update the leaderboard without achieving a new highscore?

On a side note. I love that they brought back the figures of that weird dancing Boss game from Smooth Moves. (At Jimmy T.'s Stage that are holding the sport equipment in the background)

I managed 6970. Have you promoted 9-Volt at all (by giving him presents)? That makes a bit of a difference.

For the high score... is there anything to update rather than the score? I should imagine that the percentage bit is probably dynamic?

Budda

@Ooyah
The current challenge gives you 2x of the character's Base Score for each won game. If I win 30 games, you could do the math what Base Score I have.
Anyway. I meant the ranking only shows you your ranking the time you uploaded your highscore. The game says so above the time period of the current challenge.

If anything I’d say the game is more complex. Older entries required tapping or swiping with the stylus, or moving the Wiimote. This game adds a layer of depth by requiring coordination of the character using the analog and a button for their ability, while also keeping track of the different characters’ abilities. It’s still quite basic and certainly not something I would expect to be too complicated for an average gamer to grasp, but definitely more engaging than previous entries. I even read a review complaining it was too complex now. And I thought, really? Ya, it’s a step up from prior entries for sure, but moving a character with an analog and pressing a button hardly seems “too complex”. Sounds to me like they just weren’t very good at it, and got mad at the game instead of learning the characters better.

I just beat the first world and am half ways through the second. The boss fights are particularly highlights for me.

Has anyone played the new Wario Cup yet? I think it's a fun enough take on the new formula that it could've been its own game mode and it'd be a highlight of the game for me. Still need to get a high enough score to hit gold rank, but when I stopped playing last night, I managed to secure a decent spot in A tier. I need to go back and check where I'm at now.

Only thing that bugs me about this game (it's very minor, but still, lol), it doesn't have those little "trinkets" stuff. Something that older games did (I never played Gold so I don't know about that game), some of them were minigames which this game does have, but others were kinda pointless but at the same time...they were oddly fun to collect and mess with? lol

The other thing that bothers me is that stupid "trap the animal" microgame because almost every single time I cut the stupid vine the first split-second the game starts. xD

Anyways...the devs made this game right after Gold, right?...THEY BETTER do Rhythm Heaven next.

When do I unlock the Wario Cup and ability to play as all characters at once?! Currently just beat the elevators and Penny level in story mode...

Clyde_Radcliffe

VoidofLight

@Clyde_Radcliffe After you beat the story.

ReaperMelia

@Clyde_Radcliffe I believe you've just got one more level to go before you unlock those.

@VIIIAxel
The lates ranking for me is 2%. You just should be aware that it only shows you your ranking from when you uploaded your score. The next time it updates is when you upload a new highscore or when the current challenge ends.
What characters do you choose? The ones with less points or the ones with more?
