Topic: Voice Chat/Discord Help Required

So my friends and I have been playing a lot of MarioKart and Splatoon 2 lately and we really like the idea of chatting with people that we are playing with but next to no one uses the voice chat. I keep seeing people mention Discord as a method of chatting but as far as I can tell this is more of a group phone call rather than chatting with people you are playing with.

Have I got this wrong? Maybe someone with experience using the app could give me some pointers on how it's used and what it can do because I found it pretty confusing.

We'd really like to be able to start making a bit of a team in splatoon so that we can all play together but I don't feel like I would want to add people as a friend without at least talking to them.

@JoeM103 Discord is just a chat app, so yeah, it's basically a group call as it's not tied to the game at all.

Thanks ant, I can't understand why everybody seems to prefer it. I get that the voice chat app is years behind what they do on xbox and playstation but it is functional at least.
