My son wanted to start chatting with his friends on fortnite online while playing on the big screen. I bought him a controller with a headphone jack which gets plugged into the console when in its docking station. We bought him the Nintendo headset which he plugs into the controller. When he's playing fortnite with friends he can hear them but they can't hear him. We've made sure that all settings on fortnite are allowing voice chat and audio but he still cant chat. When he's playing as a handheld and the headset is plugged directly into the console it works fine. Any ideas of why this is happening? Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks.
@Lyns My guess is, if you have parental controls turned on for that Switch, "communication with others" needs to be turned on.
Switch parental controls are accessible in Switch settings (unless you got the Switch parental control app. If you got the app, then you access parental controls with the app)
You can also email fortnite support on EpicGames's website. Epic Games created Fortnite; They also a Fortnite FAQ page, and they have answers for the Switch platform. If you want to look through there. I know they cover voice chat issues there, that could be relevant.
@woomyNNyes thanks for the advise. Parental controls fine. Read through tech support but couldnt find anything to help.
Eventually found a YouTube video which has solved the problem. Whoop whoop.... apparently on the controller there is a small button that if you double click it it illuminates and mutes the mic. There was nothing in the instructions about this and we've been struggling with this since Christmas. I have a very happy son! Hope this helps someone else.
