So I made the jump to buy the switch, partially persuaded by my coworkers and me just being bored. The initial price of £279 didn't really bother me as it has for a lot of other people, but what does really bother me is how they can justify so much money for each game, for example 1.2. switch is £35, 35 quid? are they taking the piss? it has 6 mini games that you might get a couple of hours of fun out of with your mates for £35, On my pc I pay less than that for full blown AAA games that I can expect 100+ hours of enjoyment, not 2.
And not only that but the big games they are trying to shell off to us for £60 each, how many people can realistically afford £60 game. I thought when the ps4 and xbone started selling their games for £50 it was a rip off but now Nintendo think they are fine selling their games at £60, are they mad, or do they just hate their customers? To make it worse I looked up the list of upcoming games coming out and I see minecraft, which as it is didn't surprise me as it runs on everything from the pi and my mobile to consoles and pc's, but what did surpise me was that they are planning on selling it for £60, £60 for a 6 year old indi game, which on pc (the biggest, newest and most content rich version) you can pick up for only £18 less than a third of the price, sure its portable, but I can get it on my phone, which for one is not only more portable than my switch it is also only £5 so the portability doesn't justify the higher price.
Put the massively overpriced games to one side and we come to the second problem, everyone seems to now be coming up with all the many hardware issues that seem to be plaguing the switch (thankfully I haven't experienced any yet in my 3 days of ownership, but both my friends who own it have already had to return their consoles) Things like missing pixels (I understand they happen with many screens (had them on my laptop) but the fact that Nintendo is refusing to replace systems because of that is just wrong. Then we have the issue with the screen being scratched by dock (Personally I don't understand how you could manage to do this, unless you where putting the switch into the dock in zero g while very drunk and being as strong as Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (yes I had to google his name). Then there are the multitude of issues with the switch freezing, crashing etc, but to be fair most of this should just be easily patched out in a few weeks so no biggie there.
So, in conclusion, Nintendo really need to sort something out, the prices of the games really need to be halved for it to be realistic, the hardware based issues need resolving asap and for any current owners they should either be given a replacement (for issues with the tablet part) or for issues with the likes of the dock and joy cons they should just be sent out replacement parts (when a solution has been created), and in the mean time every customer who has purchased a switch should be given a free screen protector (don't even get me started on the price of those things, 15 quid for a piece of plastic)
I wouldn't bother getting a switch mate, seems you're a half glass empty kinda guy. Personally I love the Switch and feel you actually get quite a lot of bang for your buck. Most games are available much cheaper than the rrp and I have had zero problems with the console itself but hey what do I know.
@BigBadJohn I already got the switch, and in all honesty so far since I haven't had any issues with the hardware I'm actually having a great time with it, and the cheapest i have seen zelda was £55 (checked every shop in my local area including online retailers) and 1.2. switch at £34, still ridiculously overpriced ,and like I said before the price of the console is absolutely fine, heck I would have paid 350 for the console, but the games are a joke.
