Sorry if this is an odd question or has been answered before. We currently have 4 Switches: an OG, an OLED, and two Lites, one for each kid. We are thinking of getting a Switch 2 around Christmastime. The OG almost never gets used as I exclusively use the OLED, so I was thinking about trading in the OG to save some money on the Switch 2. Obviously I would want to wipe it first so no one else can get the data or whatever is on it, but would I need to do any system transferring first, too, since I will still have the OLED that has my account and games on it? Or is just resetting it good enough? If it matters, I don't remember ever doing any system transfer from the OG to the OLED when I got it. I think I just put my account on it and redownloaded any games I wanted (although it's been awhile, so I could be wrong). Thanks for any help.
@Xyphon22 There's actually an option to transfer to the Switch 2 that resets your Switch to factory settings. If you pick "I don't have a Nintendo Switch 2 yet," it would transfer all the data to the cloud, then your console will get wiped. It will give you a deadline for when you get a Switch 2 and download all the data from the cloud, which will be a full year from when you've done the cloud transfer. I hope this helps!

@D-Star92 Oh, that's cool. I knew there was an option to transfer to the cloud if you didn't have a Switch 2 yet, but I didn't realize that it also automatically reset your Switch. If I did that, would I still be able to play on my OLED, or would my whole account be up in the cloud until I transferred it to a Switch 2?
@Xyphon22 I would think that you'd still be able to play on your OLED with your Nintendo Account. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. When I got a Switch OLED, I did a sort of experiment on playing it without doing the system transfer, and I was able to play on both consoles just fine. The only side effect was that the play times got messed up, which kind of bothered me, so I factory reset my OLED and did the full system transfer.
I'm not 100% sure about the cloud transfer however, it's just an educated guess on my end. I didn't pick the cloud transfer option when I got my Switch 2. So you might want to contact Nintendo about this. I think it's all right to do in your situation, but it's good to totally make sure before making any decisions. Best of luck.
