Just a curious question, what did you game on before you bought a Switch? I'm assuming most people owned a Wii U, but I may be wrong. Did any of you skip the Wii U, and perhaps have been gaming solely on a 3DS? Or have you never been/been a lapsed Nintendo customer and have owned Playstation or XBox hardware instead? Maybe PC? If you owned multiple systems what was what you would consider your primary console, and will the Switch usurp this?
I ask because I'm trying to figure out if the people who bought it at launch were existing Nintendo customers, or if we've gained anyone from other places?
Personally 'last gen' (if that's the correct term may be a topic for another thread), I saw myself a primarily a Wii U user, who also gamed a lot on the 3DS, and bought a PS4 at the end of the Wii U's life to fill the widening gaps in my gaming. Now I have a Switch, I identify myself with that brand, with the PS4 and 3DS still in the background for the occasional must have game.
How about the rest of you?
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
@MrGawain
I gamed on everything - PC, 3DS, Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One.
I have a problem. Or a hobby. lol
Anyway, Switch is going to be my "main" device much like Wii U was. I appreciate my PS/Xbox systems for what they can do, but honestly my interest in the type of games they tend to get has waned. PS still has a handful of exclusives that I like to go back and play, but my Xbox hasn't been booted up in months.
Mainly I'd been playing smaller games on PC due to it not being super powerful until I bought my PS4 about a month and a half or so ago. Tried to convince myself to wait for the Switch seeing as I had just gotten a PS4, but I caved and bought it on launch day.
The way I see things is that any game that is on PS4 and is coming to Switch, I will buy the Switch version due to added portability.
Time to pack the Vita away as I think the Switch will be the final nail in it's coffin after those horrendously priced memory cards, plus the Switch having proper L1, R1, L2 & R2 buttons.
I can also see myself packing away my Luigi limited edtion 3DS once I have finished what games I want to on that namely Pokemon.
Moving forward I can see the Switch being the primary console and the PS4 relegated to Sony exclusives and AAA games I want but cannot get on Switch and also hopefully a healthier bank balance as moving forward I only have two gaming platforms to buy for instead of the present 4!!
WiiU, PC, 3DS, Vita, PS4, Xbone. In that order (plus all the systems from previous gens that I still have hooked up).

I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the N64 and have had Xbox, Xbox 360 and PS4. The switch really intrigue me and it's portability is a major advantage.
I skipped the Wii U, but I had a Wii, a Gamecube (still have) and a N64. Before that I was in the Sega wagon, master system and genesis instead of NES and SNES (i'm sorry).
I bought the three Xbox day one as I did for the Wii and the Switch. I'm a PC gamer mainly so the Xbox is the logical choice for me when it came to console. Never had any regrets. Just before buying the Switch I was mid-campaign into FarCry Primal on Xbox One.
I owned a 3DS a DS and two GBA (First one and SP). I still own a GBA clone, the Revo K101, the best GBA you can put your hand on. I'm a huge fan of Nintendo's First Party games. Buy the Switch mainly for Mario Odyssey.
A side from Nintendo I played a lot of online shooter on Xbox (the 3 of them) and MMORPG on PC.
I still play the 3DS from time to time (MH Generations), though before I got the Switch I was playing mostly on PC at that point (also cause I upgraded my components).
Here's hoping for another MH announcement sometime soon...

I was originally going to skip Wii U but caved in after they released Splatoon :/ Not realizing that there be one maybe two more games that were worth getting for me. Also the games I bought range from Mario Kart 8, Lego city Undercover, Rayman Legends... so everything coming to the Switch
MS -> GB/SNES/PC -> GBC/PC -> PC -> DS/Wii -> 3DS/Wii U/PC -> Switch/PC
1. The Master System was my brother's but I played it a lot
2. I got the SNES fairly late in the piece, most of my games during this era were on the Gameboy
3. In the N64 era my brother had a Playstation but I was still playing SNES & GB games mostly
4. Outside of friends who had XBoxes I skipped the GC era consoles. Lots of questionably acquired PC games....
5. In the DS/Wii era I had a Laptop but didn't play many games. I had Portal 1 & 2 and that was about it
6. I'm all in on Nintendo + PC and don't expect it to change much
I own all modern consoles from this generation and last. I actually own most consoles from all generations. I had been heavily playing Xbox 360 and PS3, but was at a Target with my daughter where she fell in love with the Wii U display. I had still yet to buy one so I picked up one right away. Quickly became my favorite console and picked up a 3ds shortly after. Still play my Wii U and the Switch the most even though I received a PS4 for Christmas.
