@NintendoBebop ok, if we're talking action and rpgs(or arpgs) must plays on switch would be Breath of the Wild( then TotK), Xenoblade Chronicles 3. You could theoretically go with any one of the games on switch and they're all 10/10 games. But 3 is probably the best. Fire Emblem 3 Houses is the best Strategy RPG I've ever played. Bayonetta 3 is a phenomenon action game and if you're into that, a lesser played title by many is Astral Chain. It's high octane combat with some light detective work. Metrod Dread is a must play metroidvania as well. There's quite a few others I could recommend, but that's more than enough to get you started. Mario Wonder and odyssey are must plays as well, but aren't really action or rpgs. Just fun, relaxing experiences.
Hi everybody, I hope you're all doing well. I've been thinking of getting a pair of game vouchers before March 25, since that's when we can't get gold coins anymore. (I've gotten eShop cards for Christmas and my birthday.) I've actually been considering getting game vouchers even before the recent announcement of the gold coins being discontinued, and I do know they can't be used for Switch 2 games. Here are the games I've been considering...
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition
Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
New Pokemon Snap
Which of these would you recommend? I did like XCX and Tropical Freeze on the Wii U, and I might have a friend or two that I could play XCX with. Arceus might be the Pokemon game I'd be into, since I did like BotW and TotK. I did like Pokemon Snap when I had it on the N64 years ago. On a side note, I might get Skyward Sword HD, but I didn't like the original Wii version because of the controls. Thank you in advance for your help.

Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@NintendoByNature Thanks for your help, I'll be sure to check out Arceus. Hopefully there will be like a new story or something similar in the DE. I've seen talk of a direct potentially happening this month, so if it does happen, maybe we'll see a new Switch 1 game that I'd be interested in. Maybe I'll use the other game voucher for Metroid Prime 4, as well.

@MarioVillager92 As a side note, it's possible the new Pokemon Legends Z-A release date will be announced on Pokemon day next week and that game may still be in the voucher program. So that's a possibility too. That said , Arceus is a known great game so I would suggest it from your list.
Anybody playing Guns of Fury? It just came out and is on sale for around $12. Like metal slug crossed with metroid. It's got a cheesy 80's action movie vibe to it that I love as well.
This may be a weird question. I'm really looking forward to the Suikoden collection as I've always wanted to try the series, but I'm not sure about the town building aspect and having so many characters. I received Eiyuden Chronicles for Christmas but haven't played it yet. I know they are not directly connected, but would playing it give me a good idea if I would like Suikoden or not so I don't waste my money if I don't like Eiyuden Chronicles? Or is there any reason that it might be better to play Suikoden first? Thanks.

The designer and scenario writer for Eiyuden Chronicles HH was the producer for the first three Suikoden games. Playing EC would give you a good idea what to expect from the Suikoden collection. The town building aspect is more of a side questing activity. The majority of people you recruit aren't for use in combat (although you could), but to expand and enhance the vendor offerings at your home base.
Better to have everything centralized rather than running from place to place.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Magician Thanks for the reply. So is the recruiting/town building similar to how it is in Ni no Kuni 2 (if you've played that)? Because while not my favorite part of the game, I was good with it in that game. And I was just never a fan of how those PS1 era RPGs tended to just throw party members at you, most of whom were unimportant and just took up space (looking at you, Chrono Cross).
And yeah, I knew a lot of the same people worked on both games, which is why I was kind of wondering if how I felt about Eiyuden Chronicles would probably be how I feel about Suikoden, or if they are either different enough or if one is so much better that I might like/dislike one but feel different about the other.
Oh boy... i'm gonna be playing this backlog until Switch 2 OLED arnt I... ^^'
Really enjoying Pepper Grinder at the moment, its got a wonderfully strange punky and ever so slightly dark theme running through it and the inventive mechanics have suprised me on several occasions. Short, sweet and only £15 online at the moment.
Also recommending Diofield Chronicles (not quite stellar but more solid then I was expecting with a half decent narrative) which is only £10 online.
This is random, but Fire n' Ice (Or Solomon's Key 2) is absolute puzzle gold! You can play it on the NES Switch Online service. It feels like this game was way ahead of its time. It feels like with some minor adjustments, this game could pass as a really good modern indie game.
This game has a really fun concept for its puzzle design. I don't even know how I would explain it here, so you'll have to play it yourself to see what it's like.
And another thing, it has a level editor! I spent about 15 minutes playing around with it, and I'm pretty proud of what I made. I am unaware of any other game in this era which has a level editor, and although clunky, I think it's rather fun.
Please try this gem if you like puzzle games and have the NSO service. You might like it.
Warning: Spicy opinions like "M&Ms are overrated." may leak from this unit!
@CobaltFan ooh will check that out later! If you like puzzle-esque games, you should check out INK sometime--great little platformer! Also... Take it back, M+Ms are amazing!!
I hope this is good here since it's not about a game. So my son and his friends destroyed the rubber caps on the sticks on my joycon. They are still sort of attached, but just hanging on. Does anyone have any good recommendations for replacements that are easy to attach/install? It's an OLED if that matters, but the ones I've seen seem to work with any Switch.
I finally have time to play some of the lesser known games I've bought. I'll update often :3
Minepull
Rocket Wars
Domiverse
Minepull is great for specific moments when you don't know what to do but you don't want to commit to a long game either. It is not the same, but it reminds me of the retro Sokoban video game and it takes me back to happy moments of my childhood, so thanks for sharing @Vivianeat.
