Uh and I am posting again so I can follow this thread

It kinda looks like you have to post to watch a topic but actually you just type nothing, select watch topic, click 'post reply' and you will now be following the topic without actually posting (the empty reply won't actually post).
@Barbiegurl777 I can't speak for that Harvest Moon game since I've never played the series, but Pikmin 4 does have a demo on the eShop. So you can try it out and see if you like it or not.

@Barbiegurl777 All righty, sounds like you're a seasoned Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons fan. Yeah try out the Pikmin 4 demo, and if you really like what you've played of it, I'd say get the full game so you'd have something new to play. Just an idea I had. If you weren't too into that demo, go for Wind of Anthos.

Looking for a good Halloween-esque game to play this month. Looking for recommendations for an eshop game that's on sale or relatively inexpensive before mario wonder. So far, I'm thinking of Heaven Dust 2 and Dredge. Any thoughts?
Finally got around to playing Mario Odyssey. Just in case anyone is on the fence, turns out it's pretty good
@judaspete I seriously didn't want a 3d Mario game when Odyssey came out, but the reviews were so damn positive. So I skeptically bought it.... It's one of the best games I've played.🤣 I've played through it at least twice on my own, and another two times with my nieces around the holidays.
@NintendoByNature Hmmm, Halloween games? Making sure you know Dredge has a demo. As far as inexpensive halloween games: Inside (had a good time playing through that with my brother). Pumpkin Jack is pretty good.
How is everyone liking Sonic Superstars? I wanna give that game a shot sometime, especially since I'm all done with Super Mario Bros. Wonder. My only concern is how Superstars controls. I'm saying this because I've played Sonic 4 over ten years ago (which is also a 2D Sonic game with 3D graphics), and that game has awful controls/physics. The feeling of how a game's controls work can make or break a game for me, so Sonic 4 left me pretty disappointed. I'm sure Sonic Superstars uses a different engine, but I just wanted to be sure. I do remember hearing that Superstars runs well on the Switch, as well.

Hey folks! 2023 has been a great year for me in terms of gaming, with my main focus from the start of it being catching up on a bunch of 'retro' (depending on your definition of the word) titles that I missed out on back in the day (highlights of which from this year include series such as Warioware, Devil May Cry, Katamari Damacy, Castlevania and Mega Man) and now that it's nearly over, it's had me wondering what might be next. I'm still going to be tackling the retro back catalogue (I still have about 40+ games spread across Switch, Wii and PS3 that I have to tackle at some point down the line XD) but I think for next year, I want to try and tackle a genre that, despite being acutely familiar with over the course of my life, I've barely played many series housed within it: RPGs.
Despite Pokemon being my favourite piece of media ever created, I've actually barely touched the wider scope of RPGs (only really dipping into the Mario RPGs and occasionally traditional ones like Octopath Traveler). So, that's exactly what I wanted to ask you guys: what RPGs would you recommend for someone like me who happens to be both a veteran and newbie to the genre at the same time? I'll gladly take any suggestions whatsoever as I'm completely down for trying pretty much anything out due to my inexperience with the genre as a whole (traditional RPG, JRPG, SRPG, action RPG, card-based RPG, you get the idea). Thanks in advance folks!

@MarioLover92 np. It was by all means a good game. But that's about it. Nothing really blew me away, especially for a $60 game. I think it's already on sale for black Friday.

To list a few of my favorites at random:
Dragon Quest XI S is a great traditional JRPG. Or, honestly, anything in the Dragon Quest series.
Monster Hunter Stories (2) is a great way to play the monster hunter universe without the 'whack monster 9 million times in a row' aspect. Plus.. pets!
Cris Tales - insanely beautiful art. Also some simple but fun mechanics.
There are a lot of good 'RPG Maker' type RPGs, including famous and very good ones like To the Moon. A random cute one I like is LiEat.
For a more crafting-oriented RPG, I would suggest honestly anything in the Atelier series.
If retro is your jam, as it seems to be, and you're keen to explore RPGs - there is currently a ton of positive discourse around 'Sea of Stars', a recently released SNES-style RPG. It is very much in the vein of classic SNES titles like Chrono Trigger etc, but brings more modern elements into the gameplay.
It has been met with critical acclaim widely, alongside good reception with fans of the RPG-genre, and it would be an easy recommend.
The OG Final Fantasy VII is also on Switch, which is excellent of course - and recognised as one of the best games of all time. If you've not played that yet... it is an obvious choice.
If you want something more 'modern' with voice acting etc, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is solid - as is Dragon Quest XI. (although the latter is a little on the 'easy' side, if you're seeking difficulty)
@FishyS Ooh, cheers for the DQXI recommendation: I vividly remember playing through the eShop demo for it around 2020 and absolutely adoring it. I think the only reason I haven't actually picked it up yet is because I've been wanting to get it physically rather than digitally which is....easier said than done to put it mildly XD
@CJD87 Sea of Stars is 100% on my future buy list (even picked up Sabotage's previous title with The Messenger in preparation!) so I greatly appreciate the reminder! I've also been heavily considering getting into Final Fantasy at some point, though I'm just not sure which one to start with (kind of a toss up between 4, 6, 7 and 10 for me).

@Fizza
Try Nexomon games.
And at least reply me back as you replied to other users who gave you feedbacks but I just get ignored for sharing my ideas for you.
@Fizza OK so really I would still recommend VII as an amazing 'entry point' to Final Fantasy! I replayed it recently, and it still definitely 'holds up' as an amazing game... even after all these years!
10 is also a fan favorite, and 12 is solid. My personal favorite is 9...
All above are on Switch, but definitely start with 7!
