@Fizza Coromon! Good to see it get mentioned. Coromon is a good game, anyone who likes Pokemon will probably like it.
I second the CrisTales recommendation, and the Monster Hunter Stories 2 recommendation. Maybe give Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth a look as well, I had never played a Digimon game before and had a lot of fun with it.
First time poster, looking for some recommendations. Have 774 Gold Points due to expire today and don't want them to go to waste.
I generally veer towards RPGs but I do like my shorter indie titles with interesting themes/game mechanics to break thins up a bit. As a bit of a guide, games I've played this year:
Triangle Strategy, Live a Live, A Winding Path, Nier Automata, Ys VIII, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (+ Torna DLC), Zelda TOTK, Citizen Sleeper, Portal 2.
Couldn't decide on whether to use it for an indie/shorter game or 2 (I've looked at Venba, What Comes After, Neon White, Trombone Champ) or to throw the money towards a discount on something more substantial (Sea of Stars, Star Ocean, Dragon Quest XI).
It's that or I smash all my points towards the Switch Online vouchers but I tend to like physical copies of 1st party stuff and accidentally let one expiry last time I bought them as nothing took my fancy that was eligible.
Any lesser know gems that folks reckon are worth a free hit?
@rallydefault Yeah, you would. It starts slow with its gameplay because you start with a police baton and one demon. But after you start receiving some more demons and skills. The game becomes super fun.
Add in the fact it looks fantastic. It's such a stylish game that it is severely underrated. I would highly recommend it to you or anyone on here.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
I have about $7 in coins on the eshop...no idea what to get or if I should wait. Are the Bit.Trip games any good? Only a couple of them interest me (like Beat, or...Flux, I think?), but...I dunno...
But yeah they're all cheap and also on sale, so...shrugs

@Joeynator3000 There aren't any cheap games I want, so I would hold onto the $7 of eshop coins until a game comes around that you want, or a game you want finally gets a sale price. Every time I can't think of a game I want, something usually gets revealed, comes out within the 1-6 six months, or shadow drops at some point. I guess there's still a chance Wind Waker port could get revealed.
@Joeynator3000 Technically they're all rhythm games but runner certainly is much less than the others (think geometry dash runner/platformer/sort of rhythm game except bit.trip is less fancy than geometry dash).
Beat is... weird. It looks kind of like pong. I won't describe it correctly, so best just to watch a YouTube video. I'm not a big fan but I'm also terrible at rhythm games so only play ones with a bit more hand holding.
Note that bit.trip collection appears to have all 6 games and periodically goes on sale for less than $3. But if you just wanted to try one without being spammed with games and you like rhythm games, maybe flux?
@Joeynator3000 beat and flux are very similar. I guess the main difference is if you want things to come from the left or right. I like the flux direction a bit more personally but it's a matter of opinion.
@FishyS Guess I'll look them up on youtube then, sometimes I do like to hear what others think about them than watching reviews or something. xD
But yeah, even rhythm runners don't do it for me as much for whatever reason, I bought one a while back on 3DS (I forget the name, the one made by GameFreak, lol) and, never got far with it because I lost interest. >.<

@Joeynator3000 I mean, worst case you lose $2 worth of eshop points. I do think the bit.trip series in general is good even if the very trimmed down rhythm games aren't my thing.... worth 2 free dollars if you have any interest at all. I just randomly noticed Aspire: Ina's Tale is $2 right now also... great game.
p.s. I kind of liked the Game Freak rhythm hunter HarmoKnight game. 😝
@FishyS I just heard everyone saying Bit.Trip is just the best and stuff, so I wanted to see what the deal was. lol
Don't want to spend all of my $7 of coins since I wnt to make sure I have enough for the eventual new Vampire Survivors DLC that should've been on the Switch decades ago.
...
I mean the DLC is only a month old, but whatever. lol

@Joeynator3000 I thought Beat was OK. The levels are far too long though and there are some instances of wacky ball physics which were pretty frustrating as they'd generally throw them at you pretty late in the levels.
Oddly, it also defaults to gyro controls when you first start, so I couldn't play with my Split Pad unless I connected joy-cons first and changed the options to stick controls - you can't even use the sticks on the menus initially and have to navigate with gyro. I ended up just using the gyro with Joy-cons in the end though. Overall probably worth the sale price, but I definitely wouldn't pay full price
