@App Totally missed this response, sorry.

Eh, maybe, but the RPG mechanics don't really work with the platforming either. Especially if you're sticking with the turn based style. I don't want to be yanked out of the overworld and into a battle every time I bump into an enemy while I'm out platforming, that slows down the game tremendously. I definitely think we need a Mario RPG of some sorts, and I'd be open to one that involves more platforming (maybe something like Super Paper Mario but more combat?), but not as a Galaxy 3. Galaxy 3 can have RPG like elements, but making it an actual RPG wouldn't be a good fit.

I think a Rosalina spin-off series could work if done right and if Mario is still present as a supporting role. Maybe have fan favorites like Luigi, Toad or Yoshi show up every now and than.

It could give people a break from the saving the princess format for those who are tired of it and still want a story mode.

I was thinking Nintendo could make an AU timeline series where Mario is with either Rosalina or Pauline rather than Peach and giving Rosalina/Pauline the lead role could be a good way to separate it from the main series.

Both fan sides could be happy. Those who want Mario with Peach could have the main series while those who want Mario games with something else could have the AU series.
