I really feel Nintendo are killing Link off by using customisation options. No different to Mario being customised in his games to be honest. I know Link was never meant to be a real character more just a link for the player in the game as the developer said but to me Link is a real character why mess with formula? You don't see any other companies messing with their IP's in such a way.
@Blast: I think DLC, amiibo and free updates will be the focus of the non-Zelda U/NX part of E3. So I could definitely see the Splatoon, Hyrule Warriors, Super Mario Maker and maybe Smash threads explode.

Western series change protagonists all the time. We don't know that there even are any customization options and if there are typical Link will certainly be among them and in the marketing materials.
@Bsham: We know almost nothing about this game at this point. Nintendo has changed his image slightly, but that's after being an elf (Hylian, whatever) in a little green tunic in virtually every game he has appeared in for thirty years.
@shani: At this rate FFXV, The Last Guardian and Mighty No.9 will all be released before Zelda U.
Only Nintendo can dedicate an entire E3 booth to a game that won't be out for a good year and a half. I would also like to take back everything I said last year about their E3 presentation. They didn't change their strategy; It was all PR talk; they only focussed on the holidays because that was all they had to show.
@IceClimbers: Where else should the official release date be listed if not on their press site? I doubt it was an error, otherwise it wouldn't have took them several days to correct it.
Aside from the fact that "2017" can mean late December 2017 and essentially is a prolongation of a whole year (previously it was "2016").
I always said give them time so that the game is truly great when it's released. But "2017" means it releases two years later than officially announced. It also means that it'll release a long time after the next console is released, so now even I am strongly thinking about skipping the Wii U version and buying the next console's version directly. This is exactly what many people always claimed and what I told them was wrong. They said stuff like "I bought the Wii U for Zelda" and I told them to stay calm and not panic. But their claims turned out to be true.
Remember, Twilight Princess was released at the same the Wii came out, so it's not even comparable to TP's dual release anymore.
No one is panicking here though, don't know who you came to that conclusion.
And they really have to be smart in how they present Zelda U at E3. There can't be spoilers and it can't be too little. I don't even want people playing a dungeon or a boss fight. Just show Link's home and a village where you can fight combat in and see something pretty. Don't you dare have people play the starting village, Nintendo!!!!
What they can also do is show Link making a new friend.... a Midna successor. What they can also do is show Link casting powerful spells. What they can also do is show Link being Link. Show him drinking Lon Lon Milk, running from chickens, breaking pots, etc....
@shani: It was an error by the webmaster of that press site. Nintendo's social media posts, the investor's meeting and briefings, and all of the the official channels to the press all said "2017", not "March 2017".
And let's step back for a moment; Nintendo never announced a March release for Zelda. However, they'd be crazy to not launch Zelda U day-and-date with the NX. That's the whole reason they've delayed it all this time anyway.
I really hope it's a launch title, because waiting a whole OTHER year for the game would just be ridiculous. Zelda has had its delays in the past, but this time it'd be much worse considering the dire outlook for the Wii U. But we shall see. I personally hope they just do the obvious and remaster SS in HD. Might as well, every other 3D Zelda has been remastered this gen, just finish it off. Plus, Skyward Sword would benefit MUCH more than Twilight Princess ever did in terms of visuals in HD

The outlook for the Wii U stopped being dire the day they delayed Zelda out of 2015. You wouldn't call the PS3's outlook 'dire' or the xbox one (no really, the first one)'s outlook 'dire.' It's just becoming a legacy console, no need to dramatize it.
@Haru17: It could easily be a launch title, but why not call it a March 2017 game then? Or a Q1 game, first half of 2017, Spring 2017? A general year usually means fall or holiday.
@Octane Do you think I understand Nintendo? None of us understand Nintendo! Nintendo is the mythical big dumb elephant, lumbering down the forest path.
