Topic: The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles

@BenAV has it always been expensive to import? Or has that been exacerbated by COVID? I import some odds n ends and it seems like the shipping is occasionally stupid expensive.

It's still unbelievable to me that Great Ace Attorney, No More Heroes 3 and Neo TWEWY are all coming out within like...a month of each other.

Considering I'm also replaying Mother 3, this is basically just a repeat of everything I was playing in 2008.

@kkslider5552000 oh gosh, that was 13 years ago. That makes me feel a smidge old. I remember when No More Heroes was a new release.

@Losermagnet It's only expensive when it's a Japan/Asia exclusive release. I can import from the UK at a pretty reasonable price with free shipping.

Just got my copy. They did a great job remastering this for the Switch. I'd have never guessed this originally launched on the 3DS.

I want to get it, but I heard it’s too difficult for newcomers.

@VoidofLight I mean, they're just adventure games. Even if they're more involved than the original trilogy, I doubt they're difficult to the point where they'd alienate most players, unless there are massive story connections to the mainline games which, afaik, isn't the case. I'll document my time with the games as I play on, though, and mention anything I feel is particularly difficult.

@Ralizah Ah, I was told that it wasn’t good to start with mainly because they don’t explain many systems, and introduce a ton, making it overbearing.

Started playing last night. I am just about at the point in the first trial where the verdict is going to be declared. I like the characters so far, and the animations are pretty great. General presentation is really good as well, even if it does feel weird playing these games on something other than a 3/DS. I am interested to see what the overarching story will be.

Started playing the first game and....wow. this is a glorious release.

The extras have so much content. Pictues and videos and music. Even has developer artist commentary for the pics. I love it!

I have no idea how to prioritize what games to play right now. There's too many.

Finished up the first case last night, which took hours, lol.

The Ace Attorney formula is so addictive. It might take some time to warm up to this completely new cast, but I'm excited to see how things develop.

@JaxonH Starting to seriously question if I even need anything other than a Switch for the next couple of years. There's far more releasing just on this console than I can keep up with.

Going full Switch and ignoring other platforms has been pretty fun. Reminds me of when I was playing on a 3DS and literally needed nothing else to keep me entertained.

From what I’ve played I already love it. Words can’t express how much I love this series and I’m so happy to finally be able to play more on the switch!!!

For people just starting the series, I wonder how well of an introduction this game is.

@VoidofLight First case pretty much walked me through the mechanics. Hard to imagine the rest of the game is any different.

Question: Would you recommend this game to someone who's never played an ace attorney game (aka, me)?

@Jackpaza0508 yeah probably . This or the original trilogy are great places to start at least from what I’ve seen so far.

I didn't realize this until now, but the entire game can be played with touch controls, evidently. I've been having a blast playing it like a tablet game without the joycons attached.

@Jackpaza0508 Seems fine thus far. Mechanically it'll be more complex than the OG trilogy collection, but anyone who pays attention should be fine when playing it, I imagine.

I didn't want to break the streak of playing every Ace Attorney with touch controls, so this is good to know.
