Physical release or hard pass until a deep discount for me.
I still haven't fired up my copy of the Phoenix Wright trilogy, lol.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,320 games (as of October 24th, 2024)

As someone who only recently got into the Ace Attorney series, I am on Cloud Nine with this announcement. Loved the two previous trilogies and am super excited to get this. Hopefully I can snag a physical copy.
I can't even believe. I mean, I can because the rumors seemed fairly legit, but if not for that, I was dead certain these games were stuck in Japan. What a pleasant surprise.
This is also a perfect example of the difference between Switch era and 3DS era in general.
3DS era: only give us physical release for Layton crossover, AA5 and 6 stuck as download only because reasons.
Switch era: PHYSICAL, COMPLETE EDITION OF BOTH GAMES, BABY~!
Physical release or hard pass until a deep discount for me.

Pretty much where I'm at in the equation as well. XD I imported the physical trilogy but haven't played it yet. Glad to see this finally get confirmed though!
Now maybe they'll bring the other three main AA games to the Switch as their own trilogy? I've been holding off obtaining them digitally on 3DS in case this happens.
Currently playing: Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir (Switch)
@Ralizah totally! I didn't believe the earlier leaks about it so when I saw this thread I went "WHHHHHHhhhaaaAAAAat?" and immediately stopped whatever I was doing (which the driver behind me did not appreciate). I would've bet money on it not getting released, and I'm very happy to be wrong. Now the waiting and anticipation....

@Losermagnet A friend messaged me about it this morning. I saw the message, and then the next... 45 minutes?... were essentially a blur of activity. Confirming the news. Watching the trailer (multiple times). Then coming on here, trying and mostly failing to convey the depth of my excitement.
The best thing is that both this collection and AA7 were revealed in the Capcom leaks (including details like the auto-play mode), so it's HIGHLY likely that a full-blown main series entry is in development for the system as well. Possibly (probably) a collection of the second trilogy as well.
It's been years without anything substantive on the AA front, but we're about to feast. Great Ace Attorney 1 & 2 are effectively brand new games for everyone outside of Japan, then you toss in a brand new entry that'll likely release worldwide across multiple systems.
Which is another interesting thing: Ace Attorney is a full multiplat series now. PS4/PC will have access to all of the mainline games soon.
I didn't grab the trilogy on Switch, but it might be worthwhile grabbing it physically if these games are getting physical releases as well. It'd be interesting to own the entire saga physically on Switch.
I just hope Capcom goes the whole nine yards and releases an Investigations collection as well.
@Ralizah I had no idea about leaks for a possible AA7. That would be killer. I mean, I’m overjoyed just being able to finally play The Great Ace Attorney games so the idea that there might be more is like having Christmas twice. I hope that this is the push that brings the series to a wider audience. Capcom has done pretty well with it, but it seemed like they didn’t know what to do with it once the 3ds faded out.
I play through the first three games every year or two and when I imported the hard copy I wasn’t ready to go through them again. I’m thinking they sound pretty good to start now though, now that my hype levels are elevated.

@VoidofLight The Great Ace Attorney games are set 100+ years in the past and feature a completely different set of characters, so I can't imagine you wouldn't be able to start with these.
@Ralizah Ah alright. I also keep hearing the physical edition doesn't come with a game card, but I don't know if that's the truth. Would you know if that's the case?
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight All that seems to be known atm is that the physical release comes with a download code. People are unsure if that's just for the bonus DLC content or if it's a 'code in a box' sorta release.
The latter wouldn't surprise me, considering an Ace Attorney game hasn't received a physical release in the West since Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, if a spinoff like that even counts.
Currently Playing: Fields of Mistria (PC); Cookie Clicker (PC); Metaphor: ReFantazio (PC); Overboard! (PC)
@Ralizah Ah alright. I'll wait and see then. It's not a deal breaker if it doesn't get a proper physical release, but I honestly rather get a physical copy with the game card.
Great news. It’s good to see it’s staying set in Japan for parts of the game, whilst the translation was pretty good in the old games I always laughed as it was set in ‘mercia despite it being clearly Japan.
