Topic: Switch Dock Power Cable Extension Possibilities

Hiya!

I'm looking to move my Switch Dock to a new location in my living room, which is too far away from a power socket to run the supplied power adapter.

At a push, I can run a main power extension but this would be unsightly so looking for alternatives/advice.

I already had one of these cables (https://www.lindy.co.uk//usb-c4/5m-usb-3-1-c-c-active-extension-p11502/s11662) for another purpose, and used it to extend the official PSU going into the official dock. I wasn't expecting it to work due to it's spec so wasn't disappointed when it didn't! But what options are there?

Would this cable work with the dock (https://store.nintendo.co.uk/nintendo-switch-accessory/nintendo-switch-premium-usb-c-cable/11702467.html) and would the official Nintendo USB adapter (https://store.nintendo.co.uk/nintendo-switch-accessory/nintendo-usb-power-adapter/11543077.html) provide enough kick?

I don't think there is anything special with Nintendo's usb-c cables (other than being good quality). I think all the business is in the wall plug block of the Nintendo AC power adapter, and in the dock itself. So, I think you could add another usb-c cable to extend the range of the AC power adapter's usb-c cable.

Does anyone else agree with that? Granted, I'm hesitant to try this myself. I personally would opt for the main power extension cord. In my case, my room has carpet, and I can tuck the cord under the wall baseboard.

Yeah that was what I thought too, but I think the spec of USB-C cabling is quite broad and the specific requirements of the dock/Switch are narrower than that. I tried a usb-c extension and it was like it wasn't there. Cheers for the reply, think I may have to take a different approach.
