So the past year I've had my switch, everything's worked fine until a few days ago. My switch would randomly start disconnecting from online games such as smash or mario kart 8 deluxe for no apparent reason. What's weird is that it would let me into the lobby and then into the game and then disconnect. What's even weirder is that this only seems to happen for game card games. My digital games like Overwatch and Tetris have had no issues whatsoever in connecting online. I couldn't find any help online and even Nintendo's support specialists couldn't help so I don't know what to do. The Wifi isn't an issue again because I'm getting 40mpbs download and a stable connection.
I don't like Monster Hunter.

I'm probably listening to green day right now.
You should possibly contact Nintendo or search the web for a solution. I play Mottal Kombat 11 a lot and have sone lag but not your issue. hope it gets sorted man
i have the same problem is there a fix yet? just to add a bit more info i have also tried this with overwatch, smash, mario kart, fortnite, mario 35, tetris 99, pokemon sword, mario maker 2 and paladins and all of them dont work but i can watch youtube for hours so i dont know what is going on
That's sounds like a connection hardware issue for the cards. Did you look into the slot to see if there was anything in there or obstruction in there? That would be the next logical step to do look inside there. It sounds like the connections got damaged from card insertion and if so that would void any Warranty Repairs. So you next need to look there.
The same thing is happening to me. My online worked perfectly fine (except for sometimes during Super Mario Maker 2) until yesterday. I was playing Super Mario Bros. 35 with great internet, and suddenly it said that I had a connection error. Multiple times.
We need a Mario + Rabbids sequel! And an Odyssey one too!
Hey, I've been trying to find answers to this exact same problem too. I have good internet (350mbps download, 12ping) and only Switch games disconnect completely randomly. It happens with Smash Ultimate, I'm playing on cartridge. Computer games do not disconnect at all. In Smash, the match is really smooth and low lag until it just abruptly disconnects. Happens every 2-5 matches and results in me getting banned. After disconnect, I do network check and it shows full three bars, good download and ping etc. I'm on 5g wifi. It happens even if I'm right next to the router. I've tried resetting my router, toggling off band steering, and switching channels on the router admin page, nothing seems to work. The problem doesn't seem to occur when I connect to online with an adapter. However with the current setup I'd need to wire the whole house if I'd want a wired connection for Switch in my room.
I can't speak to the other games but apparently the most recent patch added encryption to the online for Smash (again I don't really get it, you'll have to google it and see if it makes sense to you) but apparently it's caused random loses of connection and lead to further lag spikes and that sort of thing. I haven't actually touched Smash online since Monster Hunter came out but this has certainly made me hesitant to return.
This exact same issue has been happening to me too with Mario Party. I have full bars and the internet is running swimmingly but out of nowhere I get disconnected. Is there any answer for this?
wifi dropping issue aren't the same here since no one here lives with the other person having the wifi issues. So unless they can rule out their router is the issue blaming Switch wifi is low hanging fruit here.
Did they added working WiFi for OLED or I still need wait for next model to get real WiFi and skip OLED?

@sviper, wll they did add a lan port... (wifi with the switch has always been incredibly stable with me, and since they upgrade the servers last year even better)
@romanista my mom hates cables, so this variant is money waste, because I will buy cable to get be cutten... Plus my almost 10 years old laptop which one never gotten hardware/inside cleaning catches full/4of5 and stable WiFi then mine NSV1 or brother's NSV2 when being farther from WiFi then both NS...
