@citizenerased Thanks for the feedback - glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the follow! I did try to place the spikes in that section such that you could see the next icicle platform in time and tried to guide with the coins too, but probably should have given more space for reaction time - that's where most of the deaths on the level are. And I did figure out when making another level later (The Terrible Tower) that the checkpoint flags only give you a powerup the one time. I think it might be different in co-op multiplayer? I vaguely remember my friend as Toad getting a powerup each time in one level after getting a flag. I'll test that later.

Now that looks like a quality speedrun level. It kind of looks like mine where the margins are thin, but that encourages flawless runs.

It’s so good to hear positive feedback. I’m glad you’re enjoying them. When you spend so much time on a level meticulously placing every block, you become unconsciously biased towards it to the point it’s really hard to judge the actual quality.

I think the shortcut isn’t actually any good for time runs. I ran it in 40 instead of 20. But it’s something cool to check out at least.
I’m torn. I am about 25% through creating Super Mario: Zero Mission. And it’s one course to rule them all. Absolutely legit. And being such a content rich metroidvania, a time run in here would have much wider spreads. The thing I’m conflicted about is I have super cool shortcut I don’t want to get rid of, but if I don’t it means all the time runs on this are going to skip 85% of the level. And that’s just no good. But it’s the coolest shortcut to the finish I’ve ever done. Argh. I might just slide it in at the end of the level, have it skip the boss battle so it’s still valid and worthwhile, but doesn’t trim time off the run.

@JaxonH - Thank you! I’ve been working on the spacing of that one since the 28th. I wanted to get it so you could play it at a full run with precision jumping. And it’s just a lot of fun!
I try to design levels that have a specific theme, that are fair to the player, and are unique/fun to play.
Which one of yours is the best speedrun level? I’ve only played the Luigi’s Last Mansion level so far, but I plan to try the others this weekend.

I need to give Luigi mansion more time for exploration. It took me a while to figure out the secret passage!
Also trying to beat @Ralizah speed run time on your Learning Curves (I think). I got 15.278! It's clever how you have placed everything to compliment the speed run for what just seems like it's just in the way when you first try level.
