My 6 year old son has played SM3DW for months, and was pretty far along. Enter, my 4 year old daughter who starts a new game 4 times in a row and deletes all my sons' saves. He is devastated and I am looking at ways to help him.
Is there a way to download saves, start the game at a later level etc? Anything at all so that he does not have to start over on World 1 again? I have nothing saved, no online account etc. So I don't think recover my old data is possible.
Any help would be much appreciated, my son is so sad and I would love to help him out.
@TotalRookie Oh no...I'm really sorry for your son. I think the only way to do something like that is to download the previous backed-up save data without backing up the most recent one. Although, backing up save data requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, and automatic backup is enabled by default. It sounds like you don't have NSO, so in that case, yeah you'll unfortunately have to start from scratch.
There is one other thing that can help. According to this page on Mario Wiki, there are orange pipes in World 1-2 and World 4-2 that take you to the next world - World 2 and World 5 respectively. I hope this helps!
@TotalRookie Give it time. It's a great game and holds many hours of family fun. The frustration felt now will pass and perhaps the two of them can play it together in a year's time, or you can play it as a family, which it is great for.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
He will get over it in time. I remember when I was a kid and my brother erased my Final Fantasy save. I was upset at first but there was nothing else to do but start over. Next time, I suggest keeping your daughter away from it at least till he has a chance to beat it. Either that or have him let her play it with him it can have two players after all.
