I finally got married! And I gotta say this hit so much different this time as I could play a Black female farmer and marry Nami! Not gonna lie, some tears were shed as it kinda took the happy associations I have with this game and punched it up to 10. Olive Town is still my favorite at this point but a wonderful life is firmly second.
For me the crop hybrids is where the game really opens up so I am now to the meat and potatoes so to speak. I will have to do another play through where I focus on getting certain people maxed out sooner before they leave the valley.

I still remember playing the PS2 version, to educate my kid in specific interest I sacrificed every single farming and ranch activities so I only selling milks during year 1 until my cow stop producing milk then I sold my cow.
I didn't plant anything, completely sterile from farming activities.
The only way I got money was from selling the forage items and the dig site items.
I really did that to make sure my kid didn't grow any interest in farming / ranch and I brought my kid to specific places and I locked him inside the specific places all day long to force him to grow interest that I really assigned to him.
I brought my kid from Muffy to Wally's house and showed him a treadmill / barbels multiple times, didn't care if he cried because I really forced him to like Sport.
I also brought my kid from Nami to Cody's place to like Art and Daryl's laboratory to like Science and did the same thing.
I discouraged every questions asking about liking animal when my kid from Muffy asked me if I like animals.
I was really a bad Daddy, wasn't it ? 😆
I played in really hardcore style.
No farming, no ranch animals, selling forage items only, forcing my kid to like specific interest I assigned to him.
But my efforts got paid off.
As my kid on Kid stage (not Toddler), he started to visit the places that I oftenly brought him during Toddler stage but sometimes my kid visited other places that I have never brought him to before.
Depend on my spouse, Muffy kid will show more interest with Sport than Animal when I completely have no ranch animals at all. Nami's kid will show interest in either Science or Art.
I have ever married with Celia and Celia's kid have bigger interest in Farming than Ranch.
So, I wonder what interest from my kid will have if I married Matthew (Celia's brother) or Rock or Cody ?
I think the kid from Matthew will have interest in Farming / Animal.
From Rock will have interest in Sport.
From Cody will have interest in Art.
Matthew and Cody have the best makeover looking in my opinion and that's why I want to married them.
Not a double post will be editing as I go I may have to split this into two posts as hybrids are the meat of the gameplay in this game.
As you know you get Vinnie the second year. Talk him to death to raise his affection and if he likes you it opens up hybrid crop making. Note he can eat seeds, crops and flowers and He/it loathes carrots so feed him carrot seeds unless you wanna waste crops.
Flower Power
Upsoil Flower + crop= S rank crop
Happy Lamp Flower + crop = year round crop
Sagesoil Flower + crop = any soil crop
Trick Blue Flower + certain crop= Blue Hybrid (will be in list)

Here is the thing to remember in A Wonderful Life about crops.
Crops in this game only harvestable once, even the crops you think will regrow the fruits.
No, they only produce the fruit once.
Once you pick the fruit from the plant, you have to say goodbye with the plant aka get rid of them because they will not produce the fruits anymore. Normal crops and fruits are really not profitable in this game.
This game is really emphasize on hybrids.
You have to get Tartan, the mutant plant inside Takakura house in year 2 and try to communicate with them until you have option from Tartan to mix two different crops or fruits.
Basically the hybrid fruits or crops will have other color from other crops / fruits.
For example, Apple + Banana = Red Banana, Turnip + Melon = Striped green Turnip, etc.
And this is the most important, rare hybrids.
Rare hybrids are combination of two different hybrid crops or fruits and the mixture will have completely new looking crops / fruits and you can give a name to your rare hybrids crops / fruits. The rare hybrids crops or fruits sell more money than normal and hybrid mixtures.
Also, you can hybrid your crops with Happy Lamp flower to make them plantable on any seasons, mix with Upsoil flower to raise the seed rank from B to rank S. Higher rank = higher profits.
If you befriend with professor Daryl, he will give you Seed maker machine to convert the crops or fruits into seeds. 1 crop / fruit can produce 2 seed bags and it will take around 1 day.
One of very profitable recipe that you can sell to Van the merchant is Dhibe cake.
Dhibe is a hybrid of Turnip and Strawberry with Tartan help, so you need to stock a lot of Turnip and Strawberry seeds from Vesta farm to make Dhibe seeds.
Plant a lot of Dhibe during Autumn - Spring, harvest the fruit then make them Dhibe cake with ingredients Dhibe + Milk + Egg, you can sell one Dhibe cake for 1675 G each cake, but if you haggle the price to Van by saying No when you want to sell Dhibe Cake, he might offers you with price 2010 G.
Accept his offer with price 2010 G.
About the map, even without looking the map, I still remember every buildings location.
Your house is in the middle to the right.
Vesta farm on the right, Digsite is on Top Right, Samantha and Wally house is on the Left, Inn is in front of your farm, Daryl lab is on the right of Inn, Cody trailer is Bottom Left, near of Cody trailer is Patrick & Kasey house, Romana Villa is on Top Left, Gustafs yurt is on Bottom Middle, Nina & Galenth house in in front of Vesta farm.

Basic crops and fruits are not really worthy in this game.
Rare hybrids crops and fruits are worthier than basic crops and fruits.
Btw, I have ever played this game on PS2 by a challenge No Crops, No dairy products, Foraging only, in mission to shape the future of my kid with interest of anything but Farming and Ranch and it worked.
@Barbiegurl777 well a few things. Try to get the seed maker asap so you don’t blow money buying seeds. The bulk of the crop game is in hybrids which don’t unlock until year 2. You can get a seed maker from Daryl for free if he likes you (give him/sell him fish) which you will need to mitigate the hybrid creation cost. So grow as much as you can afford and stockpile some for seeds. And get trees (in the poor lot) planted early. Primarily because they take a ton of fertilizer to upgrade. (You can upgrade them with an S crop but this may involve save scumming. It was easier for me to just get the fertilizer canon and toss useless flowers into the maker for fuel). Don’t sleep on flowers they either make good gifts, fertilizer or have properties that help your crops. Remember you can sell items that would be gifts to residents and if you give them a discount they like you. (I just wait until I see a cluster of them then sell them what they like for money and like points. )
Sheep literally pay for themselves (the lowest quality wool is worth their asking price). You can breed them but honestly only do that if you are broke. Takes too long when in come cases you can buy a sheep a day. If you time it right once they are grown you get wool daily. You really only need one of each female cow unless you really like cows.

Well, I have ever played A Wonderful Life on PS2 long long time ago so I got a lot of experiences and knowledge about that game.
When you play A Wonderful Life, do not sell the flowers Happy Lamp and Upsoil because you really need them for the hybrid process for your crops.
Another tips at the beginning of year 2, immediately go to Samantha's house next to Wally's house in the early morning 6 am to talk with Samantha's husband Grant to get free alarm clock.
With alarm clock, you can set the time precisely which time you want to wake up.
During year 2 until year 6, when you already have a kid, don't just stuck on farming and ranch activities only unless you want to give influence to your kid about Farming and Ranch because this game is emphasizing your kid's future.
Every single actions you did, every peoples you talked, every question you answered from your kids, the bachelor / Bachelorette you get married will determine which interest and strength of your kid.
During year 2 when your kid is a Toddler, bring them into specific places you want to increase the chance of your kid to grow an interest in specific interest depend on which places you bring them.
There are six different interest and strength for your kid: Farming, Ranch, Sport, Music, Science, Art.
How to increase your kid Strength ?
Depend on who did you get married.
Celia / Cecilia = Farming and Ranch
Muffy / Molly = Sport and Ranch
Nami = Art and Science
Lumina = Music and Art
How to increase your kid's interest?
Every actions, every places you visit, every objects you show to your kids, every peoples you befriend with, how persistent you want to force your kid to get interested in specific interest will determine your kid's interrst.
For example, if you keep showing your kid during year 2 with your crops and fruits, your kid might grow an interest about Farming and you can check their interest progress from Menu.
How about other interest?
Ranch = show them animal products, bring them to your animals, choose the answer that you like animals when your kid asking about liking animals
Sport = Walk instead of depending on riding your horse, bring them to Wally's house, show your kid to High and Wally, lock your kid inside Wally's house for several hours, keep forcing your kid by showing them the sport equipment inside Wally's house doesn't care if they start to cry, give your kid with ball you bought from merchant Van.
Music = Bring your kid to Romana Villa and Gistava yurt, keep showing your kid with piano inside Romana Villa, you can show your kid with rare hybrid crops with the look like musical instruments or your record vinyl.
Art = Bring your kid to Cody trailer, befriend with Cody, lock your kid inside Cody trailer for several hours, show your kid with art masterpiece you get from Cody, give your kid with drawing book you bought from merchant Van
Science = Bring your kid to Daryl lab, befriend with Daryl, show your kid with electronic devices, lock your kid inside Daryl lab for several hours, give your kid with toy blocks you bought from merchant Van.
Be careful with your actions after you have a kid in year 2 as every actions you did will determine your kid future and ending.
Your kid's future is depend on the highest interest and strength accumulated. There are six different endings from all six interest.
If you want to see your kid have ending in specific interest, you will not marry somebody who will inherit your kid in other interest.
For example, when you marry with Celia / Cecilia, your kid will have strength about Farming and Ranch from their Mom since Celia / Cecilia is from Vesta farm so your kid will not have very high interest on other aspect like Sport / Science / Art / Music.
If you want to see Sport ending, marry with Muffy / Molly.
If you want to see Art or Science ending, marry with Nami.
If you want to see Music ending, marry with Lumina.

@Barbiegurl777 all gen 1 seeds are bought from Vesta’s farm. You make the rest. This game was originally a boy player character only so the male characters weren’t designed to be attractive in general. Granted I can’t really tell either way if they are now more or less attractive, but many of the male characters got a redesign for this version of the game. I’m still working on the crop list post but perhaps it will be done before you get to year 2.

@Barbiegurl777 all of them show up in DS/Cute (which I am sorta mad at because the “best friends/don’t say lesbian” bonding ceremony was in that game but patched out of the western versions), and of course all the versions of AWL. But Nami for instance was popular so she showed up in Magical Melody and my little shop. No new characters were created for SoS:AWL.

Cody (dark skinned dude) was the only have new look and looks completely different than the original version.
There is no new characters in remake version.
A lot of characters get renamed based on their original Japanese names so better you get to used with the name changes.
Some name changes such as Celia to Cecilia, Muffy to Molly, Marlin to Matthew, Ruby to Lou, etc.
Samantha is Katie's Mom, the wife of Grant.
Grant is Katie's Dad, a businessman with glasses who left from house every morning.
They live beside of Wally's house and only accessible started from year 2.
Matthew, Gustafa, and Pui also have been largely redesigned.
In the case of Matthew, it’s a bit strange because he was already one of the few young “traditionally attractive” men in the valley, but the redesign actually makes him look somewhat sicklier, which I suppose suits his background.

Before that with name Marlin, his top was White with dark blue jeans, but as Matthew his top is dark blue with white long pants.

Oh, you will get married after the end of year 1 and you have given the Blue Feather to your lover before 10 Winter year 1.
You will see the scene of "marriage" of you and your lover by walking around the village, show to every peoples that you have get married without Mayor, without anybody who have authority to legalize your marriage so your marriage in this game is like an unregistered marriage. There is no fancy wedding party and wedding outfits since in this game there is no Mayor, no pastor, no any place to legalize your marriage. Those are the biggest mistake from Marvelous in making this game, they stripped a lot of important things from previous games that should be keep included due to disc size limitation during GameCube era.
After the whole long scene of your unregistered marriage with your lover, you will see your house get expanded, you and your lover have a kid in toddler stage and the family life situation in your house.
Again, this game have been scripted a lot.
You must get married before the end of year 1, you will see the progression of your kid's life stage from toddler to adult, you will die by the end of year 6, you will see the ending of your kid's future goal and you are magically back to "alive" in year 7 after staff roll credit.
Every single events will be happened on those pattern. You cannot speed up or slowed down the progress. It will happened after the end of the year.

Congratulations for getting Rock as your lover.
Now, you must be careful during year 2 as there are two important things to do once you get started 1 Spring year 2.
1. Immediately leave from your house at 5 am, go to the direction to Samantha's house, if you see a businessman walking in hurry from Samantha's house, he is Grant (Katie's Dad).
Talk to him immediately to get alarm clock and there will be a cutscene Grant will installing alarm clock in your house.
2. Check Takakura house when he is inside the house during afternoon to get a cutscene of Tartan plant.
You need to get Tartan inside Takakura house because Tartan can hybrid your crops and fruits into gen 2 hybrids and gen 3 hybrids.
The hybrid plants sell more money than basic plants.
And you need be aware with soil quality.
Basic crops can be planted anywhere since they can be planted on poor quality soil.
Gen 2 hybrids require good quality soil (beside of your chicken coop) and can be planted on best quality soil as well.
Gen 3 hybrids only plantable on best quality soil (the biggest field that you must buy if you want to plant hybrids).
But if you have Tartan, you can mix your crop seeds with special flower Gemsoil to make your hybrids can be planted on poor quality soil.
Don't sell these flowers as you need them for hybrid process:
Happy Lamp flower (Summer) = crops can be planted on any seasons
Gemsoil flower (Autumn) = crops can be planted on any quality soil
Upseed flower (Winter) = makes your crop's rank instantly get upgraded from rank B into rank S. Higher rank sell more money.
@Barbiegurl777 Looks like your kid has passed the prime molding age (toddler) but a lot of things influence your child. Your friendships, what items you show them, what your kid sees you doing, where you take them (toddler) what toys they have, gifts you give them, events like getting the stick or box. You married Rock I think, and his kid has some of the worst stats for interests (for obvious reasons...takes after dad) so you will likely have to show your kid items and give gifts to boost decently. What do you want the kid to do/be?

Remember my whole lectures about shaping your kid's future?
Every single your actions, every peoples you befriend, every items you shown to your kids especially during toddler stage, every answer you choose when your kid asked something will determine of their interest growth.
If you want to boost his Athletic aspect, better you walk down instead of using horse. Maintain your relationship with Wally and Hugh.
If you want to boost his Academic aspect, befriend with Daryl, visit his place oftenly, show to your kid with digsite items.
Btw, how did you teach your kid during toddler age?
Did you really pushed him really hardcore by showing him certain things repeatedly doesn't care if he cried or not ? 😆
Because I really did hardcore from my PS2 gameplay experience long time ago.
