Hello!

My 5yr son and I really enjoyed Lego City Undercover.

Could you please suggest other games that are alike? More specifically we liked the part of completing missions and exploring new territory as we advanced.

It seems like a similar concept of GTA, but of course my son is too young for that game.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Try Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles.
The game have Open World exploration, collecting the sprites, clearing the murk to open new areas by collecting more sprites, fishing, crafting, gathering materials, planting plants, befriend fantasy animals, exchange with other items, 100 % Peaceful, No violence at all and really safe for 3 years old kids.
There is also character customization as well.
The characters don't talk in actual English language, they just make grunt sounds when talking but you can see the dialogue bubble.
I have played the game two times on both Switch & PS4 version.

The other one is not really Open World, more like free roaming world in four different areas.
My other recommendation is Go Vacation.
Basically the gameplay is compilation of sports games, mini games and racing such as beach volleyball ball, ATV racing, water gun, skiing, kayaking, off road racing, pie dodging, sky diving, etc. And you can explore the five different areas from Beach area, City area, Snow Resort area, Mountain area and your Villa. There are the missions to unlock every single activities , new areas, new outfits, new furnitures and the badge rewards for doing the challenges. Also, you can have your villa house and furnish them with furnitures from mission unlockable.

That’s super, thanks a lot, we will explore both of these and see if my son likes them!

Many thanks again!

@Edvei Unfortunately, I don't think anybody else has tried to make a game that can do something similar to Lego City Undercover. Which seems insane to me, I've been amazed how many years have gone by, and there's never been a sequel to the game, or a similar GTA-style game made that is kid friendly. I wish I could recommend something similar.

There are other open-world Lego games that follow the same kind of formula. Lego Marvel Super Heroes is a good one - not quite up there with City Undercover for me but still fun, and it has tons of different superheroes you can play as. There's also Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which I haven't played so don't know exactly how it compares but it's supposed to be more ambitious and lets you fly to different planets.

Lego City Undercover is a diamond.

Open-world local co-op? Co-op games with the size, scope, and budget like LCU are not common. Usually indie games are where it's at. You have the usual suspects like Terraria, Stardew Valley and Minecraft. But for something different, maybe Chicory?

Lego city undercover is GOLD, I have the WII u and Switch one and unfortunately no other games are close to it.
Lego Batman 2 has open world but is more mission based and I honestly cant think of anything else, hope they make a lego city undercover 2 (technically 3 cause of the the 3ds prequel) one day.

Space and Games are similar. Space is endless and new stuff is out there waiting to be discovered. Games are always being made but the creativity is different from one game to another and so many more ideas still haven't been imagined or created yet. (That came out better than expected lol)

Wouldn't that describe just about every LEGO game out there? Not all of them are "open world", but all of them (and most video games, IMHO) fit your description. The best part about LEGO games is that they are dirt cheap on sale. Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 is unusually cheap and has a vast world to explore.

@Edvei I wouldn't necessarily describe this as similar to LEGO City Undercover, but check out Pikmin 4, which is kinda mission based. The co-op is asymmetrical, but it's a nice father/son game to play. I've still only played the demo, but I did that with my son.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

I'd say that Lego Star Wars is the next best thing. It's a slightly different kind of game, with lots of short levels rather than an open world, so there's a lot more emphasis on missions and a lot less exploring.

An added bonus would be that most five year olds are really going to like Star Wars.

@Edvei I just remembered, Lego Batman 2 (on Wii and Wii U) has a very good open world and is kind of similar, didn't suggest it bc its not on switch, but it has 2 player and is pretty fun.
