@Ralizah are you going to get the digital version with all the dlc? I am tempted by some of it.

@JoeDiddley Probably not. The DLC is IMO, less compelling than in previous SMT games on 3DS. Also, I won't touch the XP/macca-boosting ones with a ten-foot pole.

The Nocturne stuff is less compelling coming immediately off of Nocturne HD, too.

@Ralizah I’m similar, the pack with Demi Fiend sounds cool, but you can’t recruit him and isn’t that the same price as the Dante dlc where you could? I did buy that Dante Nocturne dlc but haven’t touched it as I like Raidou. It’s there if ever I do another playthrough.

Yeah all the booster day one DLC stuff is super scuzzy. I am avoiding it just to make a point, if nothing else. I hope the game isn’t super grindy to force sales of those MTX like Odyssey (the AC game, not the Mario one), did back in the day.

@Pizzamorg These DLCs have been in previous SMT games on 3DS, and they didn't impact the game design at all. I wouldn't buy their games if they went full mobile and built enjoyment of the experience around buying DLC or microtransactions.

Atlus has gone crazy with DLC in the last decade, but the games always feel polished and complete without them, so, IMO, it doesn't really matter. I just don't buy them.

@JoeDiddley In general, I'm not a huge fan of DLC, so it needs to be really compelling for me to be willing to buy it in the first place. And, with day one DLC, I tend to not want to support the practice anyway.

Personally, by the time I'm done with a 50 - 80 hour JRPG, I'm usually ready to move on anyway.

If I fully experience SMT V and just have to have more, I might buy some of the DLCs. We'll see.

@Pizzamorg @Razilah I don’t like how Atlus does it’s dlc but I’ve come to expect it. I don’t want to support the practice but if I want the content enough I’m stuck.

Some of the demons this time seem cool. But probably not worth the money. Dante felt different last time because of how iconic a part of the game he is (and therefore should never have been dlc). I can’t really understand the XP/Macca gain stuff either. For Nocturne and again here there is safety mode available for those that just want to experience the story. So not sure why you would pay for the gain stuff on top of that.

@JoeDiddley The problem with including iconic guest characters is that it can make negotiating the inclusion of them in re-releases a pain. This might have been the only way they could agree to include him again that satisfied both parties.

Technically speaking, the version of the game Nocturne HD is based off of didn't have Dante to begin with, so it doesn't feel right to pay for his inclusion. That can just be a perk of my PS2 copy of the game.

In another universe, we might have gotten a version of the game with Bayonetta instead of Dante or Raidou. THAT would have been cool.

@Ralizah yeah, only the mobile game can count on such an epic cross over 😊

That was the one thing I really liked about the casual mode, the speed of the game. Whenever I turned it off, it felt like Nocturne was moving at a dribble. With the casual mode on, I was levelling up after almost every encounter, unlocking new skills etc just felt like a much more fun loop when paced that way.

This must be the best trailer I've seen so far, fully English dubbed!

@Primo40295 Nice!

Really wish the other trailers would have been in English as well.

Just finished Nocturne HD a while ago, got the neutral ending clocking in at approx. 80 hours completing the 3rd kalpa and 90% chests/loot. Didn't use any walkthroughs save for the 2 or 3 times I lost my mind trying to get through a maze and fusing Trumpeter. I felt that I was a bit overpowered in the final few bosses but I may have had a really good build/party. Hope we can get more BGM variety in SMT V. I would gladly buy a DLC for BGM so it doesn't get too stale during playthrough. Also I hope there is a better way backtracking to get different endings. Anyway, can't wait to play this weekend (barring any delays to my pre-ordered steelbook copy).

I was gonna wait on SMT V, but that may change. I finished Sekiro and starting Demon's Souls immediately would probably end badly so I think I'll punish myself with a different franchise. Although I may get Nocturne as I can prolly get it cheaper and I never finished it on the PS2.

Hoping to get an update from the retailer tom morning (here in Asia). I completed the rest of the payment earlier today. Fingers crossed it will be delivered by Friday at the latest.

I just got my shipment notification and my heart is racing. I wish I had taken Friday off work now.

It made me forget the email saying all Steam Decks are delayed by 2 months for a second.

I got an e-mail from Amazon a few days ago saying they may "miss the delivery promise", but when I check my orders it is still saying delivery is expected on Friday.

I've had Amazon mess up my release day deliveries twice before, so it really wouldn't surprise me if they did this time, too. But I am not about to cancel this order and risk missing out on the steelbook. I can wait a few days if I have to.

Honestly, I'm so swamped with games it doesn't even matter - and I just started playing Mass Effect the other day, AND it's likely I'm going to receive some other game for my birthday on Saturday!

I still would love to be playing this on Friday, though. I've been waiting for this forever, and my hype is reaching ridiculous levels.

Just received the collector! The compendium (which is everything I have ever wanted from an smt game) is WAY better than I expected: it's actually a hard cover book, very high quality. The music cds also includes soundtracks from every previous smt games: one is a series soundtrack, the other one is smt V soundtrack. The package as a whole is excellent, money well spent. Can't wait to start playing the game! Happy SMT V release day to everyone!

I just got confirmation from Amazon that they should be delivering tomorrow after all. Looking forward to meeting Pixie for the first time again! 🧚‍♀️
