I've noticed lag in games like sonic, which is frustrating, but now I'm playing the turn based RPGs (Shining Force and Phantasy Star) so the lag doesn't matter.
Anyone else regretting their purchase due to the controls lag? My memorized timing for Ristar can go right out the window. Why can’t they get a button press to register like any other game if they’re charging for the game?
You're not just imagining things, the lag is really bad on this. I still have a real Genesis connected and play it pretty frequently, when I booted up the collection and played Sonic I honestly thought something was wrong with my joycon, so I tried a couple different things. It wasn't my controllers, it was the emulation. I had been playing Revenge of Shinobi on the real system the day before, I couldn't get Musashi to double jump without really thinking about it on the collection.
If you want to feel the difference without having a real Genesis laying around, try playing a few stages of Sonic Mania, then play Sonic 1 or 2 on the collection. Sonic should feel pretty much the same, he absolutely does not. Apparently lag has been an issue with the other versions and even the original Steam version that this was based off of, but I didn't do my research before buying it since after the excellent Sega Ages releases on the 3ds Sega knew what they were doing by now. I guess not! I ended up selling my copy on eBay since I don't want this junk.
You know, it would be hilarious if the patch fixed the input delay. Then I'd have to buy it again!
I forgot I actually have a few games on Steam from this collection. I'll try and play some of them this weekend and see how the input lag is on those. On the game's (steam) forums some people recommend disabling v-sync in the room settings which helps reduce the input lag, so I'll give that a shot as well.
That said, is there a v-sync option in the room settings for the Switch version?
Loaded this up today and yes I have to say the input lag is terrible. Dreadful emulation. I got a retro gaming urge at Christmas and bought the SNK and Namco packs as well and they don’t have this issue.
Aww, my heart is breaking hearing this. As a die hard shinobi fan , I was going to get this later. hmm. I guess not.

@GohanX I also found the double jump issue really spoiled the Shinobi games. Only Shadow Dancer is playable as it doesn't have this mechanic. I'm also disappointed that the games don't have the international versions like the Steam version does.
I only have 4 games (which I got for free at one point) on the PC version, Golden Axe 1 & 2, Gunstar Heroes, and Shining Force. With v-sync off I didn't notice any input lag, but with it on it felt like there was some. Does anyone have the full collection on PC to confirm if other games have input lag on PC?
Thought I would give myself a break from Smash and play the Mega collection which I got for Christmas, and play a game I haven't played for ages (well maybe 7 years as I got it on my Wii VC a while back).
Landstalker!
Love this game, but on the switch, because of the isometric nature, you have to play it with the stick instead of the buttons for movement. It will take some getting used to, wish I could have a Mega Drive D-pad on my controller then diagonals would be fine.
