Hello Nintendo fam I have an issue with my Switch and I hope someone from the group will be able to help me. I have recently changed my 128 gb micro sd card to a 512gb micro sd card. I have created a copy of the Nintendo file on my laptop and deleted everything on the 128 gb. My save data are safe as I'm using Nintendo online so it was pretty easy to transfer them. But I have tried transferring my screenshots manually and it just doesn't work for me they don't appear on my album no matter what I do. I have tried just dragging the files to the new album folder on my new micro SD card and it doesn't work, I have read online that you actually have to copy/paste them for it to work so I have tried that as well with no results. I hope I didn't change the format of the pictures by making a copy of the file, I'm kinda lost to be honest. It might sound like a small problem but I care about those screenshots and I'd like to put them back on my Switch. Does anyone have a solution for me? Thank you in advance.

@Splinter26 So, you copied & pasted your Nintendo folder to the 512gb card. I follow that.

Where are you having trouble viewing the screen shots? On your computer, or on the Switch?

Otherwise, the Switch saves pictures as .jpg, and video clips as .mp4, and there shouldn't be any issue copying from your microSD card and copying them to a computer, or viewing/playing them on your computer.

I ran into a similar issue when I upgraded the microSD card in my Switch. From memory, it's possible to solve it, but it's a massive pain so I just copied all my screenshots and videos to my PC and started a new album on my new card.

If you really want them to stay on the Switch, the best thing to do might be to put the old card back in your Switch (assuming they're still on there), then copy them to the system memory, then put the new card back in and copy them to that.

I have trouble seeing them on the switch I can see them just fine on my computer, I also tried to put the screenshots back in my old card were they were originally created to see If it might be an issue with my new micro se card but it doesn’t work with the old one also... @WoomyNNYes

Yes I wish I had done that before I deleted them from the old card, unfortunately it’s too late for that...do you know any other way?@NFreak007

@Splinter26 I'm not sure what would cause your issue. Maybe the Switch system is trying to block folders & pictures it thinks you created as an effort to prevent piracy/homebrew/jailbreaking.

I don't know if the Switch Album folder structure matters? The Album folder structure(for my north american switch) is organized as Album, year, month, day. The folder path for a screen shot saved today is Album/2021/05/31

If you don't have a Nintendo support to contact, I guess I'm curious what the screenshot save location is?

If you go to Switch Settings/Data Managment/Manage Screenshots and Videos, the save location should say microSD Card or System Memory.

Does the Switch let you create & view new screenshots? -just a test to see if that function is broken. Maybe the Switch can save & view new screenshots & videos fine.

If you just copied the data off the sd card to laptop folder for NS and then copied back to the new formatted sd card without copying the formatted data and only copy what's old then it should work just fine. But if you copied everything back NS data plus your saved data then you messed up. I know because I did that but the old sd wasn't format/deleted and I was able to get all the data back. Because if you do that the NS will think the 512 is the 128 because of the old NS data you copied back. If you did that there's not much anyone can help with at this point since you deleted the old sd card.

Mine is organized just like yours except the folder is on my laptop, I should’ve specified in the message that I have had this problem for 3 months so basically I have my old Nintendo folder on my laptop with the save data and my screenshots from 2017 to 2020. I have changed my card at the very beginning of the year so the 2021 folder is on the new card. I now have more than a 1000 screenshots on my new card but the switch won’t recognize the folder from the old Nintendo folder so the ones from 2017 to 2020 I referred to earlier. Right now my screenshots are on my new micro sd card I don’t save anything on the switch itself. Do you know how I can get in touch with Nintendo? @WoomyNNYes

Hey how do you know I’m currently in France lol 😅
I’m actually Toronto based but I’ll be in France for the next few months so yeah I’ll probably have to use the link that you gave me as I won’t be back in Canada before November. Thx for your help man I really appreciate that, I’ll get in touch with Nintendo and see If they have a solution for me.

@Splinter26 You're profile page says it. My profile used to say US, but I took it off. If you click people's user name, you can see their profile page, which may or may not say a little something. If you go into account settings, you can remove your country, or add details, or edit your signature.

Side note Nintendo of America support is good, and they service the both the US & Canada. So, if you were in Toronto, you'd access the same support as me. That's the support I've had experience with. I've used phone and chat messenger.

Oh ok that’s how you know, I’ll probably just have to try their European service, I’ll have to wait til November If I want to receive the same support as you. What did they help you fix or replace? @WoomyNNYes

@Splinter26 I've never sent anything in for repair. I called Nintendo support for help to create a second profile for playing Splatoon 2 online, and also about 3ds eshop, or something like that. (side note, a joy-con of mine developed drift after 3.5 years & 200-250+ hours playtime, but I knew their day could come someday, and I was prepared to buy a new joycon pair.)

Anyway, my interactions with Nintendo support were positive and it was pretty easy to get a nice person on the phone. (unlike some large companies in the US).

This same thing has just happened to me! I bought a new SD card of 526Gbs and tried to Copy/Paste everything using a Macbook, but suddenly, my Nintendo Switch stopped recognizing both SD cards! I repeated the process using a Windows Laptop (after formatting the new SD card with the Nintendo Switch) and now all my saved files and games are back, but I can't see any of my screenshots from the console! I can take new screenshots and I can see those new ss with my computer, but the old ss seem to be "unreadable" from the switch :S

How did you solved this @Splinter26 ? Did Nintendo Support helped you? I'm located in Mexico, and back in 2014 when I lost my old 3DS, they helped me recovering my account and downloads.

I got troubled in the same problem and have solved it. Hope my reply can help ones who got stuck in the similar problem and have not figured out it yet. I pulled out the micro sd card from my Switch to back up the screenshots in Switch, but when I had copied the folder "Album" of the micro sd card to my MacBook, my Switch no longer showed the screenshots even though I inserted the micro sd card into my Switch. Furthermore, I cound not save the new screenshots in the micro sd card even though I had set up it. Then I deleted the folder "Album", inserted the micro sd card into my Switch and pressed the screenshot button, hoping that my Switch could automatically create a new Album folder. But it didn't work. The new screenshot was only saved in the Switch but not the micro sd card. Finally, I used my usb flash disk to copy the folder "Album" from my Macbook into another computer which run Windows 10 system. And copy the folder "Album" from the win10 system into the micro sd card. Then I saw the screenshots again in my Switch. It has worked.
