Hi, I hope you can help. Brand new to the switch. I am struggling in saving data. I have set up a Nintendo 3month Account and then when saving Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for example, I save the game progress to the cloud. I am then unable to download it, it is always greyed out. Do you have any ideas or know how to save game progress so my daughter can go back at a later date to continue where she left off? I also tried saving to what I think is the device but that only saves it temporarily. Thank you so much. David
@DataDave Data is all automatically saved to the Switch itself. The cloud saves are just a backup in case anything happens to your Switch. As long as you've saved in-game (the method varies from game to game but most will have some sort of auto-save feature) then you're good to go next time you load it up.
@DataDave I haven't played it myself but after looking it up, saving in Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe just seems to be a little weirdly implemented. Apparently it only gives you the option to save after clearing one of the castle stages. If you want to quit after a different stage then you need to open the menu and create a quick save which will create a temporary save that you can resume from.
Thanks. Yeh that seems to be the issue. The temp save doesn’t save it for long and it’s very easily lost when you switch it off, unless I am missing something. Clearing one of castle stages to allow you to save is a bit frustrating. Thanks for advice though 😃👍🏻
@DataDave Quick saves are one-time use saves that are deleted when you load them. As long as you close the software right after making one (don't load it before closing the software or it'll be deleted) then it should be there the next time.
Save game data is on the Switch itself and cloud is backup. So is the game the Digital or Physical? Games saves are on the Internal Storage not on the sd card if you have one. And you should check your save option to see where the saves are going when saving as if your using sd save then the download game should go there to save on Internal storage space. But you need to check your settings since no one here has access to see how your setup is.
