@HotGoomba which is my point, why do we really need a mid console upgrade if its not going to allow for the cross platform games.
Nintendo stuff runs amazingly on what's already available. Imagine breath of the Wild upscaled to 4k it would look horrible, it's not exactly texture heavy and it would definitely highlight how poor the draw distance is.
@Mr-Fuggles777 not saying I believe in everything that has been said about the revision but if you potentially have a switch that can have 4k like visuals with dlss would that not be an impressive upgrade close to next gen to you?
@Mr-Fuggles777 Interestingly, at least here in the UK, whenever PS5 stock comes in, PS5 game sales skyrocket. So it shows that yes, the games are selling with the hardware.
Once a system has been out for a while, then we see if the games sell the hardware. Right now its a mix of new tech and needing something to play.
@COVIDberry I'm going to die on the hill of a Switch XL: Extra Large screen in handheld mode, extra large resolution when docked.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
@Mr-Fuggles777 I’d guess that Nintendo first party games would be able to run at 1080p 60fps and with dlss scaling that would be enough.
Here’s my problem with a lot of switch games. It’s either or. Either resolution or frame rate. Rarely both.
Kirby is 1080p but 30fps
Luigis mansion 3 is 1080p but 30fps
Links awakening is 1080p but 30fps
Mario and Rabbids is 900p but 60fps
Splatoon is 900p but 60fps.
Odyssey is 900p but 60fps
Tennis aces is 900p b it 60fps
Sadly the games which are often 1080p 60fps are wii u ports like DKTF, NSMBUD, Mario 3d world, MK8, Smash ultimate and the rare switch exclusive ARMS.
Then we have hyrule warriors, botw which are a mess.
But I see you think switch first party games look stunning on the switch. That’s where we differ.
Anyways if we get to Xbox one specs we can get a killer instinct port:)
@sixrings but even at 1080p 60FPS the games will now be getting compared with 1440p 120FPS or 4k 60FPS so there's still going to be that compromise on Switch. Especially when the rumoured price puts a new switch in direct competition with true current gen machines.
I think first party games look stunning for a handheld, which is what we are still going to have with an upgrade so its not going to make that much difference.
@Balta666 upscaled 4k I only going to be docked and if I'm playing docked why would I want to downgrade the FPS from my Series X?
I literally only play my Switch handheld because I dont like wasting the big TV time with compromises.
@Mr-Fuggles777 I’d be very happy getting a switch which is the same tech as a series a or x but don’t think that’s what Nintendo wants to do or could do in an affordable hybrid way. I’d be ok if they went to a tv only model which is more powerful but I don’t think that’s going to happen.
@sixrings I would be quite surprised if Nintendo kept with the hybrid idea for the next Console past this Switch upgrade.
They have never kept a console design past one life cycle striving for innovation and new ways to game instead. If they stick with incremental upgrades to the switch I could imagine it would become quite stale always being a gen behind and would show that Nintendo has lost touch whilst chasing that profit.
If the Switch ends up breaking records for every console they have ever had, then I can totally see them sticking with the switch, I mean why shouldn't they, in my opinion nintendo as hit the perfect console, with time, might become A 4K handheld device. (Now i'm just dreaming)
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

@Snatcher of dlss works as well as they say I don’t know why they would need a home console again. Well I wouldn’t mind a small Nintendo like Apple TV box. Maybe that will become a cheaper option like the 2ds was when it dropped 3d.
@HotGoomba I guess you could see it that way. But a switch tv could be made cheaper without a screen and battery. Even if they sold it at the same price as the lite I would be sold on multiple units.
@sixrings Yeah but I'd throw up at the thought of that existing. If anything, I can see it being advertised as a streaming box, but the only streaming app on Switch is Hulu.
