Guys I don’t want to spoil anything or give away the name of my trusted sources because it’ll get them fired, but Bob Corn in Nintendo accounts told me that the Switch 2 is being revealed in July. Perhaps August. But definitely no later than September or October.

I have 100% confirmation that unless you are reading this after Switch 2 is revealed it will be revealed some point after you are reading this

I was going to argue the point and say that I doubt anyone would be reading that post as Nintendo announces it.... but there are people on here crazy enough to bookmark this page just so they can read that post as Nintendo announces it and make me incorrect

The original Monster Hunter Stories (aka the one on 3DS) just got listed on online shops for a Summer 2024 release. On the one hand I'd be happy to see the entire series be available on a single system (I skipped Stories 2 precisely because I had never played the original)....but on the other this probably means it'll be the only Capcom announcement at the show which kinda just makes me a bit sad honestly XD

@Haruki_NLI while all of them are fine games, Mario Wonder was amazing, two remakes don’t particularly bode for an exciting year for my tastes.

@DiamondCore I want to know who the sources are. Are they trustworthy? I don’t know, can see Switch 2 having no games. I’m skeptical about this rumour.

I want a 2024 Switch 2 release before we start getting Switch 2 games. Switch 2 games coming out before Switch 2 makes it worthless buying Switch 2 game that will have Switch 2 update on-cart or download enhanced when inserting into Switch 2. Waiting for 2025 isn't the same as Switch in 2017 there more console coming for Nintendo even if they don't get Nintendo IP games people will look around. The sooner they get Switch 2 out the better for their market share and get more buyers to come around.

I don't think it's that cut and dry. The Switch launch is a rough comparison to make because Nintendo was in an entirely different position with the Wii U and backwards combability of any kind was off the table. Those Wii U games that landed on the Switch were ported, in the traditional sense, that would've required significant effort. That won't be how this next transition will play out at a technical level

I mean, consider this alternate timeline. Lets ignore Wii U and think about 3DS. Imagine an alternate timeline where the Switch had two screens and a cartridge slot that supported 3DS games with 3DS backwards combability. Now also imagine in this alternate timeline that "Pokemon Stars" had happened and, rather than being a new game, was just an "enhancement patch" for Sun/Moon. No additional charge just drop Sun/Moon into the "Switch" and you get a HD version of that game which released only a few months before. And they talk about this openly before Sun/Moon is even out

..... in that alternate reality what happens?

• More people buy Switch because they can play Sun/Moon on Switch
• More people buy Switch because it allows them to play an enhanced version of Sun/Moon
• Less people buy Switch because the 3DS existing makes the Switch "worthless"

To be clear, we're not talking about there being NO games that only exist on Switch 2 here. We're talking about some games existing on both and running better on Switch 2. It's like back in the day when the GBC launched. The GBC was out and sure there were GBC only games but the killer app, Pokemon, was still playable on the original GB. When I asked my parents for a GBC and finally got one, and this was like late 00, it wasn't for GBC exclusives. It was so I could see the colour sprites in Pokemon Gold/Silver and Pokemon Pinball. It'll be a similar deal with any cross-gen titles that get enhanced for Switch 2

@skywake Were talking 7 years as when Switch 2017 was released they were already onto the next hardware iterations. No console makers can survive not doing R&D for their next console after 7 years. That's just crazy to think after 7 years they go "Oh, let's make Switch 2" no un-likely. They are in business to make money and shareholders look for that. Waiting for 2025 isn't a winning business move by any stretch of the imagination. They by now have a prototype Switch 2 testing this is most likely happening and to not have one by now is just dumb. They can release Switch 2 and have Switch 2 games follow later. It's build the car first and then engineer the engine for it? That's kinda decision would put you in dead last and in loosing proposition regardless. Just like a car build both at the same time and make sure it works. You don't build one or the other and expect them to fit without first knowing how it fits. Why, haven't we even got a peep or rumor for Hardware Switch manufacture but only from Software Devs? You have to ask this part is missing and puzzling as we only got the Nvidia leak to go by so that would tell you since that time they had been working on it and to now say they don't have anything is just dumb as well. Or they NDA them so hard no leaks can come out and that would mean it's in Production already and Nintendo isn't saying or doing anything to say otherwise. They can release Switch 2 now and get the software coming for Switch following it. If they already have the LCD that means it's in Production if not why even mention they had the LCD dimension for it????
