The next console has to share many similarities to the current Switch. Before it launched, they revealed they had amalgamated all their development teams so as to be supporting one system. If their next system is remotely different, then I would have thought there would be rumblings of having to restructure yet again (I mean, the Switch is selling far too well to just simply dump.) Regardless od what folk think, Nintendo has a very strong holiday line up and could very well be the best selling console over Christmas this year. Which would certainly put it in the conversation of best selling for the year. If we see some big games inthe September Direct for next year, then heck, I might even start thinking 2025 (once it has surpassed PS2 - which STILL some folk think implausable!) Ah well. I'm sure we will look back at the Switch's 10 year lifecycle and recognise Nintendo were being honest...as usual.
They must have a road map of games still lined up. If any of them underperform, I dare say we'll see next gen versions with extra features / content. But as of now, I think game announcements and games under performing would point more to a successor's reveal as opposed to simply '7 years...'
I found this online and it 100% fake but I thought I’d post it here to entertain some people “ Nintendo Switch Wonder Launch Date: October 20 2023 $400 - 64 GB configuration $500 - 256 GB configuration + Super Mario Wonder game pack in
Super Mario Wonder will be Nintendos first native 4K game
Nintendo Switch Wonder console

Totk and Pokémon come with a day one patch that improve performance and reduce loading times. For Totk, the loading between shrines and the open world are completely removed.”
I can't wait for official Nintendo communications to refer to 'Og Switch'.
Also, they really jacked up the price for a little extra storage in those 2 versions.
The important distinction that I think is worth making is that when you talk of Switch 2 with full BC, does that necessarily mean Switch 1 will be able to run all the new games? Because that's what you get from a Switch Pro (odd exceptions not discounted, á la Xenoblade Chronicles on N3DS), so no-one would get left behind and developers would continue to have the 135+ million install base to sell to, while having additional performance capabilities in the Pro to offer enhanced features for if they choose. And to encourage things along, Nintendo would release Pro performance patches for a bunch of its games,
My view on this can be summarised in three points:
1. I don't expect a massive shift in terms of architecture so BC should be possible and therefore will be a thing given the sheer size of the library
2. There are plenty of titles that don't need better hardware so if there's decent BC I'd see no reason to stop making Switch titles. Especially if you can have games running on the new hardware in a "high resolution" mode
3. Better hardware for some exclusive titles is all but a given when you recognise the gulf between what the Switch spec is and what it could be
The pedants can debate what category that sits in all they want but IMO, functionally, to me it seems more analogous to GB -> GBC than Wii -> Wii U. And it seems to me that it's the line between those where this distinction is made. And really the only difference between those two transitions is that on one of them old games were enhanced on the new hardware
With that said, technically 3DS games ran better on the New 3DS also so you can see why I think this entire discussion is a bit dumb if we're just looking at the hardware. So I guess the answer is that the new hardware won't be a Pro model because fans have already decided it isn't. It's purely perception
So we've got MoneyDJ talking about Foxconn revenue expecting to peak at the end of the current fiscal year. Hinting at a possible new platform for Nintendo arriving in Q1 (April to June) 2024. Foxconn makes metal casings for platforms like the Switch.
@Magician
To be fair Foxconn is a PCB manufacturer and makes pretty much all the things. iPhones, Google devices, PlayStation, XBox, Nintendo. Lots of stuff
Them expecting high revenue towards the end of this financial year could mean new hardware from someone ramping up, possibly Nintendo. But it could also just be a natural recovery of production as we start to leave the silicon shortage and COVID supply constraints behind

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
I would also add that...it's an investor firm speculating on a release timeframe. Sure the Switch successor could roll off the assembly line in early 2024. But that doesn't mean a 2024 release would be a lock. Much like their software, Nintendo could opt to hold the release of new hardware until a date much later than expected.
@Magician the Zelda thing could be anything. A new section of the theme park? An annoucment that the movie is going into production?
I will probably be proven wrong, but I think Windwaker and Twilight Princess will be remasters released on Switch 2, I think they should go full Metroid Prime Remaster level upgrades to the graphics, but utilising the extea power we think Switch 2 will have.
Do we get Metroid Prime 3 Remaster within the next 12 months?
Apparently, According to some of the FTC vs Microsoft court documents, the next Nintendo consoles’ name will be around 12 characters in length.
This could of course be a codename. like how Codename/Nintendo NX was the switchs’ codename.
It could be “Codename/Nintendo NX2”, and that’d align almost perfectly, but what do you guys think?

This probably doesn't mean anything but I was just checking the NSO video playlist on Nintendo's Youtube channel out of curiosity (and desperation) and noticed that there are 2 unavailable videos in the playlist.
There's every possibility it could just be one of those older overview trailers that they deleted and forgot to remove (along with the fact that this playlist hasn't been updated with GB/GBA), but given the absolute dry tumbleweed worth of news in regards to anything NSO lately (outside of arguably Mario Kart), it does give me the slightest bit of hope that something will release soon.

@Magician NSO is losing Pac-Man 99 later this year which will devalue the service so perhaps one of the multiplayer Zelda games or something like Zelda 99 takes its place?
@Grumblevolcano@Magician Do you think a Zelda 35/99 game which it's a race to beat the dungeons from the original game or something like it would be fun and popular?
The really need to bring back Mario 35, that was epic.
@Fizza it likely is just unlisted videos, I wouldn’t put too much thought into it
Also, how did ya’ send a photo in these forums? I thought it was impossible lol.

@Magician Spawn Wave looked into this story ...
... TL;DR it looks like there's not much of a real story here beyond Taiwanese business journo's speculations
Looks like we could potentially have a Pokemon Presents in August (shocking I know) according to a recent datamine of Pokemon Masters.
According to a very reliable dataminer of Masters, Nemona & Pawmot appear to be releasing on August 8th at an unusual time of 1PM GMT. This time lines up with the usual time Presents take place (with a bit of adjustment for certain time zones and whatnot) and Tuesday, the day this release begins, also lines up with Presents usually happening mid-week (see most non-Pokemon Day presentations falling on Wednesdays). Plus Pokemon do have a habit of dropping big celebratory events the day of Presents (the Paradox Raids in SV in the previous Presents and Zeraora raids for SwSh's Isle of Armor release are good examples of this) so it's definitely plausible, perhaps even moreso, that Masters would get it's first Gen 9 character to coincide with a deep dive/release date for the first wave of SV DLC. One thing that could potentially debunk this however would be the fact that Worlds takes place very, VERY soon after this date which could stretch the hype for it pretty thin if what gets announced is particularly big (new Mystery Dungeon perhaps? Please?).
This is pretty much speculation from someone who's been around the (Poke)block a fair amount of times with Pokemon news drops though so, as always, take it with a grain of Nacli
