@erv You do, but only the very base amount of coins you could get for beating it. Don't worry though, later worlds give you way more coins for beating their chapters. You can also discover challenges from Rabbid Toads in previously beaten worlds to earn a few extra gold and orbs.
@meleebrawler ah thanks, I was almost put off trying skills and weapons because of it...
It strikes me how much of a traditional rpg this really is in its mechanics with the weapon upgrades and skill tree upgrades etc - but the subtlety in gameplay feels quite unique.
Now that I'm half way through chapter 4 and had a fair amount of time with the game, I have some mixed feelings about it. I actually have never had a problem with the rabbids and in general, I'm enjoying the game a lot but there is kind of a lack of polish that I can feel from the game that hasn't gone away. It's all very small things like the camera being fixed a lot, the semi-annoying block pushing parts where the controls always feel a little off, the little cut-scenes not really ever being interesting, a surprisingly lack of personality... I feel like as much as I'm enjoying the gameplay, I see the potential for a lot more. Am I in the minority if I say I wish everything was actually even crazier?
I haven't been finding the field of view too bad, so you as you use tactical with X (or maybe Y). My main personal gripe is with the speech bubbles! It looks like someone's ripped them out of Mircrosoft paint!
But apart from that, it's been really engrossing. The battles are fantastic, which is pretty much everything. Took the Switch to bed, and found ran through the charge before I even realised it. Which was just as well, as it had become stupidly late.
Just tried out the game, and love it already. I've always liked the Rabbids, and have always enjoyed their games, so for me it's great to see them back. I only got a little bit past Peach's Castle so I can't say much about the story yet, but the battles are great and the areas offer just the right amount of exploration. I'm looking forward to unlocking Luigi, who will then never leave my team since he's my favorite character. lol XD
So glad that this game is getting mostly positive reviews. It gives me hope that more crossovers like this will happen. Having Mario & Sonic crossovers was already awesome enough... and now Mario and Rabbids... even more awesome!
@Blue_Blur Yeah, uh... you should know that while Luigi is fantastic in both offence (with massive range and high damage on his main and the super versatile Sentry secondary) and mobility (highest potential natural mobility on all fronts with upgrades with an ability to boost his and his teammate's even further, and a double team jump altogether can trivialize many "reach area" missions), he also has absolutely atrocious HP that can make him risky to use in prolonged engagements or challenges that start you in a difficult position.
The game's missions are varied enough that you will find yourself rotating characters fairly frequently, and they all have their own uses. Rabbid Luigi is great against minibosses with his Bworb's special effect aptitude, Rabbid Mario can deal massive damage to groups of enemies etc.
I wonder if anyone can help with a query please, i bought the game a few days ago & i've only completed a few chapters. Is there a way of moving closer to the target rabbid, shooting & then returning back to where you started or do you have to move, shoot & stay where you are?? Hope that makes sense lol. Many thanks
@Jen10 I'm afraid the short answer is 'no' - the movement and shooting phases are entirely independent. Either you shoot first, then complete your movement phase, or move first and then shoot. You can't punctuate your movement phase with shooting, and then carry on moving.
It's worth noting that you can break up the shooting and mobbing between characters though. So you have can Mario shoot, R'Luigi move, R'Luigi shoot, Mario move, etc. Rather than waste a full shot an enemy with low health, it can sometimes be a good idea to have another character dash into them.
It's easy when you remember to check the colors of the moves that represent the type of action. You can only activate each color/type of action once per turn.
Two worlds down. I finished the final boss of World 2 with the person who joins you before the battle. I had 9 HP left. First "fair" rank. I've mostly gotten perfects and I already replayed one chapter from World 1 where I didn't get perfect. I'm enjoying the exploration part more than I thought I would. It's very simplistic but I like block puzzles and it's a good break from the action. The battles are very short too so it's a very good fit for Switch with its pick up and play style. All the characters are almost equally awesome. All of them have some kind of unique skill I like. So far my favorite is Rabbid Luigi with his vampire slide though I rarely use his special moves.
Is there any word on how well the game has done in terms of sales? Companies like Ubisoft usually like to gloat when a game has done well. All I've seen so far is this one tweet.
@Late It's not just the vamp part that's great about his dash, it's just plain powerful once upgraded. His Super Barrier does reduce damage like Rabbid Peach's, just not as much, so it's still worth using if you foresee taking damage even if the enemy isn't using effects. Weaken is also great against enemies attacking from all sides with upgraded range.
@meleebrawler I've upgraded the damage input twice as well. I think my Mario does a bit more damage with a slide right now but it's still a nice amount. For comparison, my Luigi does the standard 20 damage with a slide right now because his slides level up slower and does less damage but his specials make up for it. I just don't rely on Luigi's slides as much. I still use Rabbid Luigi's specials at times but it's harder to see their usefulness compared to other specials since Rabbid Luigi's specials are supportive/defensive.
Also, as @Spoony_Tech said, the rumble when going through pipes feels great. It's weird to say this but so far it's my favorite use of HD rumble. I have hard time noticing it in other games I have.
So I tried the game. My wife made me open it instead of sending it back. I'm playing and have no idea what I'm doing. My wife watched delay and said she has no idea what's going on in the game. I guess if you are an xcom play you will love it. I have never played a game like this. Is there a good video that can explain or give tips on playing?
