I just read that Edge magazine awarded Rime a 9/10 and were "overwhelmingly positive" in the review. That's great to know it's turned out well after it's troubled history.I had my doubts about it.Hopefully the Switch port will be a good one.
I've heard this game compared to Zelda and is highly praised, so I'm 100% certain I will get it someday. And it does look great, if far more of a quieter, Shadow of the Colossus-y, type of game.
I think literally the only game that I know has been compared to 3D Zelda and praised, that I've never bought is Megaman Legends 2, and I plan to change that soon-ish.
By the way i don't think i'll grab it if the Switch port will not be optimized like it seems from most recent news, especially with higher price! Forget about it (even though i'm interested. They have to convince me really bad)!
I heard the problem occurs when the game is a port and not made from ground up for Switch.
The Switch seemingly has no function to magically upscale games on the go going from undocked to docked when it's not coded into it at the right places. It's harder to implement it in a finished game that just needs to be ported to Switch.
It may be too soon to draw conclusions, but there seems to be a trend to just make 720p the main resolution on Switch (Minecraft, RiME) to skip the time that is needed to test the switching between standard 720p handheld resolution and 1080p tv resolution.
I think it's weird, Wii U was able to display and process 1080p on the tv and a lower res (480p) interactive mirror on the GamePad simultaneously (Mario Kart 8).
I almost pre-ordered this, but I need to actually start playing Zelda and Mario Kart first. It will more than likely be next on my short list, as I really like the look and direction of the game.
@OorWullie The camera cuts and new camera angle appears under water. It's like those 90s 3D games with fixed camera angles, where the camera would suddenly change to a new position. Except you get full camera controls in this game, so it's quite confusing at first. Just watch the following 5-10 seconds:
@Octane Yep I know what you mean.Watching that I had a flashback of a similar game I played years ago that done that and you never felt like you were in control of your character.I can't remember what it was called.
I've never been a fan of underwater sections in games,I'm always glad to get them over with and back to the surface.Tropical Freeze's underwater sections were great though but still,I preferred to be on land.
@OorWullie There's isn't a whole lot of swimming in RIME, from what I've played at least. Swimming controls are also decent, but the entire character plays a bit like the boy from The Last Guardian, which isn't something everyone can appreciate. I don't mind it though.
@Peek-a-boo I finished the game and I think you're going to love it. People weren't kidding when they said it reminded them of Journey and the Wind Waker. Although more specifically, it's a weird combination of those two games and TLG, ABZÛ and The Witness as well. I missed out on a good number of collectibles, especially in the later areas. Maybe I'll go back some day and hunt them down.. Though I still feel that an open world game is better suited for collectibles, I don't like the feeling of missing out on stuff.

I think you meant to say Ico because thats exactly what this game Reminds me of. A mix of Ico and Zelda.
I was quietly paying attention to this game but my attention on the last trailer I seen got a lot louder. Now I can't wait to pick this up!

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
