My son's right joycon won't connect physically to the switch but will connect wirelessly but keeps disconnecting. They will connect right to my switch when slid in with no problems. The joycons are bandnew from christmas. I have cleaned the track the jotcon slides onto to try and fix the problem but still nothing. His pro controllers connect wireless and stay connected no problem. When it's connected wireless you can slide it into the rail and stay connected wirelessly. Does anyone have any ideas that wireless. Sorry for the description being all over the place. Thanks in advance.

@Jeff1012 Sounds like you're saying the right joycon won't sync with the switch when attached to the Switch (via the rail on the side).

Here's Nintendo Support's directions for the issue you describe. Note, these directions say update your joycon, on occasion Nintendo does put updates out for controllers - they have to be pluged in to recieve update.

Occasionally I get a hiccup like that with my right joycon, and have to re-sync it. Forgive me if your issue is a more serious issue. To re-sync the attached joycons I open the controller icon on the Switch home screen, then select Change Grip/Order. If that doesn't get you running, and the page link above doesn't help, it might indicate a hardware issue - I think that's unlikely, but not impossible. If the console or joycons are new, you can try asking a store to let you exchange your joycons for a new pair. (Ask store manager if an employee says no. A sympathetic manager may still say no, but it's worth trying)

Sending them to Nintendo for repair obviously is an option, granted a crappy one. Turnaround may be 2-3 weeks.

If you did want to contact Nintendo, their support has been good. They have a phone line and chat messenger. Their support site also is a good resource to search for troubleshooting things that you will encounter.
