So about a week ago i've bought and installed a DIY transparent set for both my joycons. The right one works without problems, but after installing the kit on the left one, it didn't registered when attached to the switch console. It knew it was charging from somewhere, but thought it was not attached to the switch. I bought a replacement rail, and after installing that, it worked just fine. unfortunately i had to re-do the home button padding within the housing so after opening it up and closing it up, it had the same problems. My boyfriend (works in phone repair, i work in pc repair) re-did the cable and surprisingly that fixed it... for a few days. i started to get problems again 3 days ago that when i attached it to the switch console the right joycon shut down/disconnected suddenly for 2 minutes straight before working just fine. my boyfriend has now installed another, new rail, and strangely enough, the same problems as when i did it the first time, attached to the console, not registered as attached, but still charging. I've redone the cable inside and that seemed to have fixed it (but have only had 5 minutes of hands-on time since that and reconnected it succesfully about 10 times to the side of the switch).
Now, i'm really frustrated because i do not know what causes these issues, and these issues are so vague in that all it takes to fix the problem is just redoing the cable, sometimes, and sometimes requires a completely new rail.
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone else has the same problems and knows exactly what's causing it.
My theory is that the cable has a ''natural'' bend in it but needs to be in such specific of a position/angle/bend within the casing, that it's nearly impossible to get right on your fist try of closing the thing up.
