@kkslider5552000 Yeah, NERD (Nintendo European Research & Development) in Paris are responsible for pretty much all of Nintendo's emulation efforts and have 75 employees but of course that doesn't mean all 75 are working on the NSO Libraries

I know I mentioned this before elsewhere, but I've been wanting to revisit the original Luigi's Mansion. How likely is it to come out on Nintendo Classics this month? Logically speaking, I think it's pretty likely with Halloween coming up, and they didn't add a GameCube game last month. Though on the other hand, I'm not sure what Nintendo wants to do... and I'd love to know if that game will get a rerelease this month.

With talks of potential DS games being added in the future, is there any hope of us getting some Pokemon games from Game Boy to DS? I really want to play the classic games in their original form on a modern gen console as official releases.

@Don I feel like it could come eventually still since they did make it available on 3DS for the GameBoy games.
But I believe it would be a new application so that you couldn’t rewind, use save states, or use cloud saves considering their efforts to prevent cloning/cheating in their other games.

I’m a bit hopeful that maybe they’d finally do so next year around Pokémon day for the series’ 30th anniversary.

I’m hoping for a 30th anniversary release as well since they released gen 1 on virtual console for 20th anniversary. I’m fine with the classic Pokemon games being available outside of NSO, hopefully will be a purchase download.

Disney Illusion Island is the latest NSO game trial, at least here in the US. I should come back to that game actually, lol.

huh. I was hoping it would be Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance like EU just got recently.

@FishyS I was thinking it would be SMT too... plus Nintendo Life's article didn't even mention it was for Europe only. But from what I've played of Illusion Island, I do like it and recommend checking it out, especially if you like Disney, Mickey Mouse, and/or cute games. As of this post, the game trial isn't active just yet.

@D-Star92 Sometimes the EU and NA game trials are the same game but a week or two seperated and sometimes they are completely unrelated - I've never figured out any rhyme or reason.

I'll probably skip the NA trial — although I like cute games like illusion island, I have a bit of a phobia of the old school disney characters like Mickey and especially Goofy. 😅 Something about them gives me nightmares. I suppose I could play it as a Halloween horror game 😆

I will say, I might play, as I have with every other game trial I actually bothered with that fit the specific mold of "game I'll never buy but am curious enough to try but would forget even if it had a demo". Props to the Overwatch 1 trial, the only way I ever got to play Overwatch 1, a game that in case you forgot, inexplicably doesn't exist anymore.

Not interested in a Disney game but the fact it even remotely reminds me of the modern Rayman games is so weird and specifically interesting to me that I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Not that it matters to us in the west, but I kind of wish those 4-weekend trials that they do in Japan also happened over here. I believe one did happen some time ago.

Last weekend (Oct 24 - Oct 26) was Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2024-2025, next weekend (Oct 31st - Nov 2nd) will be Disney Illusion Island, weekend 3 (Nov 7th - Nov 9th) will be Yomawari & Yomawari: Midnight Shadows and on the last weekend (Nov 14 - Nov 16) will be Hollow Knight.

Anyway, about Disney Illusion Island. I'm not really into Metroidvanias other than Metroid itself, and even then I mostly play Metroid for the lore and characters, not the gameplay.

With that said, more games that play like Rayman Legends do need to exist and Mickey and Friends check the character box of Metroid, so I'll give it a try and decide if I get a copy that's in a supermaeket near my work.

Bonus points for having the game in Latin American Spanish, complete with the original/current LatAm Spanish voices.

I first played Dr. Mario via Dr. Wario in the original Warioware more than 20 years ago, and only after playing Dr. Mario 64 on NSO do I like Dr. Mario.

I first played Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine as part of Sonic Mega Collection more than 20 years ago and only now on NSO do I like it.

I'm sensing a pattern here.

Does anyone else think there will be another Tetris 99 Maximus Cup this November or December? Normally there's at least one around this time, and there hasn't been one since August. I just really want an excuse to play Tetris 99 again, lol 🤣. Kirby games are usually shoo-ins for Maximus Cups, so I wouldn't be surprised if Kirby Air Riders gets one in the near future. Potentially also Metroid Prime 4 Beyond as well, since Metroid Dread got one back in 2021.

@Nep-Nep-Freak Pokemon Arceus got an event too. So there are a lot of possible event themes. I assume that team at Nintendo has just been busy with other things (other NSO stuff, the various apps, Switch 2 related stuff), but I'm also hoping we get one or two Tetris 99 events before the year ends.

Finally bit the bullet for the expansion pak. November/December are usually zelda months for me, and i typically replay OoT or MM. I was tired of firing up the clunky wii u or my smaller 2ds for either of those versions. With that said, I started up OoT on switch online and played through the great deku tree. I should be able to get through before MP4 as I know this game like the back of my hand. Probably play MM next month.

Both apps now have the Nintendo Classics branding and allows you to change controls like in the GCN/N64/GBA/SNES apps.

One step closer to having all the Kid Icarus and pre-Microsoft Rare games in the same console.
