Something I've been thinking about for a while. Nintendo should still try to find a way to integrate some of these old games that are on Switch but not on NSO into NSO somehow. I don't think they'd be able to get most of them...actually on the service (like maybe Capcom would give them a single NES Megaman game lol). But considering how much of this is built on being a service specifically for old games, the lack of Megaman, Castlevania, Contra, Mana, Final Fantasy (I'm sure those Pixel remasters will be on Switch someday), is kind of a problem. Also the small amount of N64 games on Switch but not NSO doesn't help since N64 has less games in general.

My only idea admittedly would be to have limited time(?) sales specific to NSO membership. And even then, enough of these old games have major sales enough of the time that I'm not sure how much of an incentive that is. But it would at least mean some of the most popular NES/SNES games would actually have some connection to this NES/SNES service at least.

@kkslider5552000 There kind of the way there with the Genesis app, since that has Castlevania, Sonic 2 and all that kind of stuff, along with adding stuff like Earthworm Jim, Mappy Land and Dig Dug to the SNES and NES apps. But I would kill to have some more iconic third party games on there as well (give me Mega Man, Final Fantasy or even some left field additions like Tetris or Metal Gear and I'd be very happy). They've said it themselves that NSO is a money maker, it would be nice if they poured some of that money into grabbing the rights to put those games on.

@TowaHerschel7 I checked there about 20 minutes ago and it wasn't there yet. I'd say wait until tomorrow morning to check (I'd say it'll probably be up by 6am if I had to give an estimate). I'm so excited for it though: I actually really liked NES Open, even with how primitive it was, so to finally get a proper Mario Golf game is so cool. Never played Super Rush either so this'll be my first one!

when you fire up mario golf, i'd be most grateful if you could post back on how well the 3 click works with any input lag? this ruined it for me on wii VC. many thanks!!

@Dimey Played about 15 minutes worth on handheld mode, so far the 3 click input lag seems about the same as Wii VC

I played the original N64 version recently for reference. I'll try some more of the NSO version later to get a more solid opinion on the 3 click, especially the power swings.

Main games I'd be interested in playing anytime soon if this is real (that have a reasonable chance of being on here):
-Both Golden Suns
-Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland
-Sonic Advance series (and the spinoffs as well)
-Pinball of the Dead (It's only rated T!)
-Gunstar Super Heroes (to see if me being underwhelmed by it at the time was a mistake or not)
-Any cool Atlus game I never played before
-Mario Advance 4 (mostly to play the e-Reader levels I never played)
-Mario and Luigi
-Final Fantasy V Advance (the one GBA FF remake I never played)
-Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
-The Klonoa GBA games
-Pinobee (you ever have that weird game you saw someone play but never played yourself and are super curious what it even was?)
-Borderline every 1st party Gameboy/GBC game I don't already own (so the majority of them)
-The Gameboy Megaman games (the only system that I could see NSO getting Megaman games)
-The weird Gex and Rayman GBC games I had growing up
-Tetris and Tetris DX
-...
-some other 3rd party Gameboy games that I totally know exist!
-I dunno maybe that MGS game on Gameboy Color

The 4chan bit is a bit of a red flag, but then, you know what they say about broken clocks...

From what I've read of this leak it appears to be a full on dump of development code. Not directly from source control but indirectly via a development console. And it's signed by the developer who pulled it from source...... so that's a thing....

In any case, seems very much real and someone is definitely getting fired and blacklisted from the entire industry over this. Whether or not it actually ends up coming out? I mean it might not, not everything that's developed is released. But it seems like it's definitely a thing being developed and, IMO, it's such an obvious move that had already leaked I don't think we should be too surprised by it

I'm kinda surprised Nintendo Life is running this one on their frontpage given the shady nature of the leak

You know, when I said the NSO Expansion service was likely going to attract further DLC when it launched and people should reserve their judgement? Well, add another DLC to that list:

@skywake My only problem with this is that I've bought every DLC listed so far. I think the biggest appeal to me will be the games added to it. I still haven't gotten a subscription, but if the GB/ GBA library gets added, that'll probably sway my opinion. The service is certainly gaining value, though.

@StarPoint
Well the Animal Crossing and Mario Kart DLC you knew were part of the expansion when you brought them so that's a thing. In any case, I've got all three without paying anything additional which works out to be $90AU of DLC just for myself since the Expansion launched. Not bad considering I pay $110AU/year for the family pass

Now you could argue that I wouldn't have got some of this DLC if it wasn't part of the expansion. You'd be right. But amongst the five people on my Family Plan the number of DLCs not brought would definitely be adding up. I can only speak for myself but as a gut feeling..... probably about 6 DLCs that would've otherwise been purchased and another 4 DLCs that will be used that wouldn't have been purchased. So $110AU spent, $180AU saved, $120 bonus. And that's before any of the other things in this service

The scales have most definitely tipped towards this being a decent value

@skywake Yeah, the reason why I bought those DLCs is that I was convinced that I wasn't going to be getting the expansion anytime soon. It wasn't a great value for me at the time, but looking back, I do sort of wish I had bit the bullet and gone for it beforehand.

Again, if the game library side of things gets expanded with GB/ GBA, I will most likely be grabbing it. It's becoming a better value all the time, and I'm interested to see where it's heading in the future.

Playing a bit of the Octo Expansion, now I remember why I skipped this one. Splatoon is just one of those games where I never got into the single player mode at all. It's just purely been about the online modes. I didn't beat the original Splatoon single player, barely played the single player mode in Splatoon 2 and I kinda feel like this expansion will be the same

With that said, it's part of the NSO Expansion so of course I'm playing it. And I feel like that super low risk of trying stuff out is the main appeal of these kind of subscription services more generally. There are movies I've watched on Netflix or Disney+ I would have never have brought or rented. There are albums I've listened to on Spotify I wouldn't have brought. And some of those things I've tried out on those services have ended up being things I've ended up loving

So yeah, this particular DLC? Not something I'd be jumping up and down to get NSO for. Not something that really justified the price of the service by itself by any stretch. But that low risk being able to try out stuff like this? WELL worth subscribing IMO

Ninfan

Will mega drive games include the 32X and mega cd games.

Ninfan

Fizza

@Ninfan I think it would be cool to include Master System games there as well at some point, it was basically SEGA's NES so I don't think it would be too difficult to implement.
