Topic: Protection plan worth it?

When I do get a switch I thought about a protection plan that some stores offer( GameStop, Target iirc, etc)

I have an 11 year old and a 1 year old who likes to try to “ help “ him play games. I’ve never added a plan before for a console so never had to try and use one.

Anyone purchase one and have to use it for repairs/replacement which stores did you get it from? Any that are difficult to deal with or should be avoided?

Generally, the Product Replacement Plans for electronics only act as an in-store warranty for problems NOT caused by external issues. For example, if the battery were to not charge anymore one day, a plan allows you to replace the item at the retailer. If a user drops the console and there is physical damage, a plan would not cover this.
Also bear in mind that these plans run at the same time, and not in addition to, the one year manufacturer warranty from Nintendo.

If they offer a protection and no question replacement plan take it. Let's say GameStop offers a 2 year plan no question ask replacement take it but look carefully to what it offer and what it replaces. Otherwise you have the standard Factory 1 year manufacture defect replacement plan. But if User Abused consider Warranties voided from Factory. So look at what replacement or extended warranty GameStop or others offer but see what it says before buying. I had to replace my Joy-Con but with the extended 1 year plan the Joy-Cons replace no question asked.

Beyond this one do this:
1. Get TemperGlass cover
2. Get Multiple Docks if you play at different location at the home. I have 3 Docks one in Gaming room and one in Family room and one in Nintendo backpack for on the go gaming.

I always buy the extended warranty usually the 3 or 4 year one from Walmart @Ruthless4u . Walmart has never sent off one of my broken systems for repairs as they just give you a Brand New One. And the New one is still covered by the original extended warranty. I always buy my New systems from Walmart as their Extended warranty is 2 to 3 times cheaper than Best Buy, Gamestop, or any where else that i've found. Plus it's always hassle free to exchange my broken system for a Brand New One. Walmart replaced 3 Xbox 360's for me in 1 year because of the red ring of death when Microsoft's Warranty was only for 90 days no questions asked . So yes i think there totally worth it.

I just looked up some extended Warranty's for Nintendo Switch. And Walmart is the cheapest and is for 4 or 3 years not 2 years.

Best Buy: 2 years $49.99 (just covers broken electroinics) Accidental Coverage Cost Extra $??

Gamestop: 2 years $49.99 (just covers broken electronics) Accidental Coverage not available

Walmart: 4 years $45.00 or 3 years $34.00 and includes Accidental Coverage Free

Accidental Coverage Covers: (broken screen or touch pad and liquid spills that damage the Switch, Drops, Ect. Basically all Accidents)

Considering it's a Switch I would get extended warranty no question asked warranty just for that reason. It's will be played hard.
