The most recent release was on 360 for XBLA. Easily my favorite game developed by Treasure. Treasure themselves mentioned the possibility of porting the game to Switch after Ikaruga's release. But here we are, almost four years later, still waiting.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,251 games (as of April 24th, 2024)

@Magician I never played that one, but I have played a few other Treasure games (like Gunstar Heroes) and all the ones I played are really good. I do enjoy shmups so I'd like to play it sometime. That reminds me, there was one shmup I played on the Sega Saturn, which was Galactic Attack. I'd love to have that on the Switch.

I know. Difficult to do the asymmetric game play on the Switch.

But, I guess 2 ways to go about it.

1) Release with a bunch of single screen games. With the asymmetric games as a "bonus" if you can get your hands on a 2nd Switch. (Either by having 2 Switches or with your friend bringing their Switch over.) And there is a free download for the asymmetric controls, such as the running in Mario Chase, or the ghost in Luigi's game.

or . . .

2) Make it so that you can use a cellphone for the asymmetric controls.

Long ago I would have also wanted Mario Kart Double Dash. But with the additional tracks coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I am happy about that. So Double Dash doesn't automatically make the list. But . . . the 2 player in 1 kart portion of Double Dash is still fun. Great for little kids that haven't mastered the driving portion yet. Or for anyone that just wants to throw things at the other players. LOL.

It was sort of the series that pioneered a 3D explorable Pokemon game (over 10 years before PLA) and it's a game that I treasure dearly to this day. Is it that amazing? No. But I would love for it to come back in some way shape or form.

Currently MIA for exams; see you all in a bit! o7

@NintendoDad Ohh, this was my favorite Nintendo party game, i highly second this! They should actually do a sequel and build up on it properly

+1. Yes. Nintendo Land 2. So a sequel. Not so much a port or remake.

A couple more ideas.

1) Gnomz, the Wii Ware game.

My wife, kids and I decided to play a game today. We fired up the Wii just to play Gnomz!!! Not the running game. The Sock game. I would love that game to be on Switch.

and . . .

2) Kirby's Return to Dreamland.

We quickly fired that up today as well.

We also played some DecaSports for Wii. I'm thinking I should get the new Nintendo Switch Sports at some point in time.

I'm not so sure about porting Nintendo Land directly but I'd definitely be down for revisiting it in some way. Like a Nintendo Land 2 or something. And when you think about it the only games that really required the second screen were those three competitive games. The rest could either work as is without it or be returned to work without it

But as you said, there's technically nothing stopping them from releasing an Android/iOS companion to allow remote streaming. Even if just for one app. And of course you could do local multiplayer between two Switches, one docked and the other not. I don't think it'd take much for most people to organise two Switches for their games night. My last games night I was literally swapping Switches in my dock like they were cartridges, I doubt I'm alone

I may have said it once before but I’m kind of surprised A Link Between Worlds looks to be stranded on 3DS. It’s one of the best Zeldas of that style and it really should be available on whatever the current Nintendo hardware is.

But of course Nintendo rarely looks at individual games, they tend to handle things on a per system basis. But I think that’s less than optimal because you’ll wait a long time for certain games to be accessible again. Not a great situation at all

@NinChocolate
I do like the idea of remaking/porting some more portable Zeldas. Was thinking about this the other day when posting in the "make up a leak" thread. In my mind the 3DS Zeldas are a tad too new to remake and the DS Zeldas are tied too much to the DS hardware

Minish Cap I can see working and also Oracle of Seasons/Ages. But the Oracle games are probably the easiest bet given they borrow the Link's Awakening art style already. I'd be down for that personally.

With that said, if we're pulling stuff from the 3DS there is one game which deserves a Switch port with HD visuals and proper dual analogue controls. Kid Icarus Uprising. I can't tell you how excited I'd be to see Kid Icarus on Switch in that style. Even if it was just an enhanced port of the original

I know it sounds like the cop pout answer, but if Nintendo had a proper back catalogue service, even if it was a paid extra thing, I'd pay for it. I was out of the loop with Nintendo for a long time and there is a bunch of stuff I'd like to catch up on, but unless it shows up on NSO in probably an inferior form or some full triple a priced rerelease, I am basically cut off.

Like I understand logistically since like all of their consoles and handhelds have their gimmicks, there is probably all sorts of problems created when trying to port these titles over, which probably does explain at least in some part why they haven't just done this already. But I still just find it so odd Nintendo always has these blackholes in their catalogues.

Like I know Xbox and Sony do too, but it never seems to be of the same degree, maybe it is but it just seems like more because Nintendo's first party output is so strong, I dunno. But I shouldn't have to be holding onto, or buying, like 15 year old consoles or be cut off from a huge part of Nintendo's history before that, unless I hold onto the original devices.

I have 15 years old machine Wii and still able to play Wii and Gamecube games.
Even I have more than 20 years old PS1 games and still working perfectly on my PS2 Slim that also already 15 years old.

Yeah, exactly my point. This should not be necessary.

I can boot up my Series X right now and play original Xbox games. Maybe not the hugest selection, but this shouldn't feel like a luxury. Games are an art as much as any other, there should be preservation and access.

@skywake Uprising would be very exciting to see converted over. Do you figure the touchscreen camera would translate over very well?

As for Zelda, Minish Cap would be extremely cool to see get a polygonal translation. I can picture a style even similar to what Alpha Dream did with Superstar Saga for 3DS. It’s a shame they couldn’t be the ones to do such a remake, it’d have probably helped their studio’s prosperity. But maybe Grezzo can take a pass at the Oracle games or Minish Cap

@NinChocolate
Been a while since I played Uprising but from what I remember there wasn't much the touchscreen did that couldn't be mapped to a stick. I might be wrong but. Either way, I'm sure you could get it to work. It's not like the touchscreen controls were it's strong point (they didn't bother me but reviews were pretty hard on them from memory)

@Pizzamorg Wii U and 3DS were the ultimate retro consoles back in the day.

Wii U had Wii games via disc backwards compatibility (and some got digital versions) as well as Virtual Console for both Wii and Wii U (which combined contained NES, SNES, N64, GBA, DS, TG16, Genesis, Master System, NEOGEO, Commodore 64 and Arcade).

Meanwhile 3DS had DS games via cart backwards compatibility as well as Virtual Console (this lineup included NES, GB, GBC, SNES for New 3DS and Game Gear).

So between Wii U and 3DS, the only major system missing was Gamecube. It was somewhat represented (3DS got Luigi's Mansion ported, Wii U got HD Zelda remasters, some GC games got ported to Wii with motion controls and hence playable on Wii U) but in general it's the system that Nintendo keeps ignoring.

Sadly all that is gone as of March 2023 (the Wii Virtual Console stuff was gone in January 2019).

@skywake I think I'm one of the few that found Kid Icarus Uprising's controls to be its strength. The touch screen afforded it some precision that you can't easily achieve with analogue sticks.

That said, if they were to completely remaster the game on Switch they could use dual-analog for the most part, and add some gyro for precision aiming.

Or we could just get a sequel...

At least 2'8".

It shows Nintendo can do it if they want, but they clearly see there is more money to be made in creating artificial scarcity instead.

But then I feel they can't act surprised when people turn to piracy if they give people no legal channel to play their games. Maybe that veers more into the unpopular opinion thread.

I also know this is a whole other complicated discussion point which kinda blurs the rules here - I also obviously don't support piracy - but I am just saying.

I also guess Nintendo technically have the right to just refuse you access to their IP if they want, as it is their IP. But like, it seems they only do it for greed purposes and that is just kinda sad.

They are built on so many antiquated pillars of practice that we all have to accept if we want to enjoy Nintendo first party.

@Buizel @WaveBoy
I liked the controls but I do remember wishing it was a Wii Game when it launched. Did give me something to play on my 3DS but, which was definitely in desperate need of software to play on it at the time

Probably wishful thinking wanting to see more from it now I guess. Was a Sora project, guessing he's pretty burnt out after smash

I’d love Persona 5 Royal on Switch, along with Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 Dancing All Night.

The PSVR is the best VR system on the market today.
