@Anti-Matter Hey, been meaning to thank you for the introductory guide - thanks

I got a bit stuck on Portal Knights when it said I had to find a special item to open a door that would allow me to access to some sort of beast. I had no idea where to look, and then Lroy got me sucked back into playing FIFA 18, so I haven't touched PK in a week.

It's a great game though. I was unsure about it at first, but once I started levelling up my bow skills so that I could defeat more enemies, and started crafting things, I was really enjoying it.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

@gcunit Yeah took me a while to get into it. Found my home island and I am currently building my base. Floating to other islands at the moment as well to get certain resources to build other stuff, but my base shall be grand.

The item that you must open at Squire Knoll (World 1) is located inside a building like Castle. Go down a little bit, there is a Skeleton as enemy, defeat it. At the end of room, you will see a Treasure box. Open & collect all the items inside.

Btw, as you open many Portal gates, try to defeat 1st Boss first (Ancient Worm) & then you can mine a lot of Iron ore on World 2 to make Iron Equipments & Weapons. Try to equip your character with Iron Destroyer equipment sets (Helmet, Torso, Gloves, Legs, Capes). That equipment sets can be used for ANY jobs, with greater defense points for Beginner.

One more thing. Make an Arcane Compass to find Portal Gates easier. Recipe needs :
1x Copper Bar
8x Blue Portal Stone Shard
1x Verdant Emerald

Copper Bar = 1 Copper Ore + 1 Coal. Copper Ore founded at Dusty Junction (World 1-02), Coal at Fort Finch (World 1-03)

Verdant Emerald ore is founded at Garnet Peaks (World 1-05)

Happy hunting, happy crafting.

Guys I need some info on that game from people who played it. Not YouTubers that probably did the game for views.

How close is this game to Minecraft? Can I build anything I like similar to Minecraft? Does it have 1st person view?

I see it as a more cartoon version of MC but I do not want to buy it if it is just a gimmick or a cheap knockoff. I just ordered Lego Worlds and I wonder how close is this game to the others.

Replay value is also a thing I love.

@Zuljaras
You again !
I had played Portal Knights since June 2017, from PS4 version first, then continued on Switch version from 24 Dec 2017 until today. I had experienced a lot.
Let me show you the latest update version 1.4.2

I will answer your questions:

1. How close is this game to Minecraft?
Portal Knights, Dragon Quest Builders, LEGO Worlds, Pixark, Cube Creator 3D, etc are Minecraft clones with Better enhancements.

2. Can I build anything I like similar to Minecraft?
Definetely. And even better than Minecraft.
Watch this another Early Access gameplay from Steam version first.

3. Does it have 1st person view?
YES, Absolutely. You can change the view between 1st / 3rd person view.

@Anti-Matter Thanks Grumpy-Matter! With my next salary I will buy the game. I also read that the physical version is with later version which is nice but at the end I guess I have to update to get those nice features!

I don't know why but lately I want to play Minecraft-like games. Lego Worlds and this game would fill that role until the latest Minecraft comes (the underwater expansion).

I would've expected you to answer since you LOVE that game.

Anti-Matter

@gcunit
Have you updated into version 1.3.5 ?
Now you can Relocate some NPCs and put them on any place you want, so you don't have to find them like in Labyrinth.
And new updated Beach area looking, now it added with some grasses rather than sandy area.

@Zuljaras get the demo first from jap eshop.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

1UP_MARIO

@Zuljaras sorry from the Japan eshop if you have a account, everything’s in English so it’s easy to understand.
I was gonna buy the game for my kids but after they played the demo it didn’t really click for them.
Try before you buy

Couple more questions.
Can you build with everything in the world? Like I saw a graveyard and the player took the tombstones.
Can you make your own graveyard like that with the tombstones or there are some restrictions?
I also saw some vases and pots.
Could they be used for decorations?

Anti-Matter

@Zuljaras
I will answer :
1. Can you build with everything in the world?
YES. You can build houses with specific blocks, growing some plants, have some pets, crafting materials, hunting for enemies, mining the gems or ores, shaping the island, fill the landscape with water from water pumps or drain the water from lakes, create furnitures to be displayed on your houses and you can use some of them especially bed that you can speed up the daytime by sleeping on bed, etc.
On Creative Mode. Check the table contents, it has Everything you need. All Blocks, All furnitures, All pets, All plants (based on their biomes), Tombstones, Water pumps, etc. Complete.
You can mine the items from tombstone, blocks, furnitures, etc and put them at your Home Island on anywhere.
In Adventure Mode, you can buy Tombstone, Graveyard, etc straightly from NPC.

2. Can you make your own graveyard like that with the tombstones or there are some restrictions?
Well, you can buy them straightly from NPC. In Creative Mode, they are available from Beginning and you can put them as many as you want without cost any money.

3. I also saw some vases and pots.
Could they be used for decorations?
Yes, you can. Also, you can create the vases from recipe. In Creative Mode, you can put them as many as you want without crafting first.

One thing. This game have 3 Main Bosses that guard each World. Ancient Worm = 1st Boss, Dragon Queen = 2nd Boss, Hollow King = 3rd Boss and the Final. Also, there are Another Bosses again. They are HARD Version of Three of them: Electro Worm, Arctic Dragon Countess & King of Light. They are Extremely Hard, better you equip better equipments and provide some useful items and Tons of Strong Medicines to beat them. In reward after you beat them, you can get Very Rare items, and if you lucky enough, you can have them as your pets (they will appear in Tiny version)

Sorry @Anti-Matter, I've not intentionally been ignoring you, just not gotten round to replying I'm afraid. I still haven't played PK again since my last post. I'm a bit hooked on FIFA at the moment. But I did notice the update downloading on my Switch the other day, so I'm good to go I think, thanks.

Thanks for your previous advice re. Squire Knoll. I had been down in the castle building and defeated a number of skeletons and found a number of chests, but I've not found the item I need in them, I don't think.

I have read that Portal Knights had some game breaking bug. Some hardcore FPS drops and save corruption. Like memory leakage. After that they fixed it but in which update.

Also if anyone have this information - which version is the physical Switch version. I am hoping it is without the bug because they said they fixed it in December and the physical went to retails in February.

This is kind of deal breaker for me if the physical base version still has this nasty bug.
