Anything works and sells with portability, so why not? /shrug.

Yeah, but I'm expecting some re-release in 20 years or...something. But it will probably miss the Switch, because I doubt even Nintendo could possibly care about it.

When is Zombi U getting ported

Yeah I never saw it in English. Once in Germany on my honeymoon around the launch but that was it.

The ad itself illustrates what a confused mess the system was and what a hard sell it would be. They could have fixed it with a simple disclaimer but that they didn't and instead it disappeared told me a lot about how bothered Nintendo were about marketing the system.

Some people complain about the fact that porting, in their opinion, is disrespectful or unfair towards the Wii U, but for the same logic not porting a game and forcing it to be confined to a console that most people avoided can be considered disrespectful and/or unfair towards the games as well.

I know how much I would love to see portings from my favourite consoles, I know I would love them that much because I love those games and I want them both for me and to give them another chance to be enjoyed by other people too, that's why I'm sure those people complaining about ports do that only out of anger. They are just angry because many people who don't like the same console that they liked made it such a failure.

This will not help Wii U in any way, Wii U is still a camplete failure and nothing will change that, but this mentality will damage its games instead, games that never had the chance to reach a wider audience but now could.

Most people did not like the console you liked that much, just deal with it. Nintendo wanted to create something so... "particular", when you walk a path like this failure is a possibility that you must consider. You can't blame people for not liking something expecially when that thing set itself apart so much to what people are expecting and are used to. You choose to take a risk, you have to deal with the consequences.

More people should have supported the WiiU to begin with. When you've already been playing Mario Kart 8 for 4 years, 100% completed DKTF, bayonetta 1&2 and countless others it would be preferable to get new versions instead of ports. I'll be disappointed if there isn't a brand new Smash, especially after dropping a ton of cash on DLC. A "deluxe" version would be a cop out. And then what? Wait another 5 years for a sequel. Want to play WiiU games? Hmmmm, there is a console dedicated purely to that. It's called the WiiU.

Yeah I'm having this exact issue and it makes their current treatment of the Switch seem extremely pathetic... They can sugarcoat it by at least giving us as many great new AAA exclusives as Wii U ports, but that doesn't seem likely for now... Bayonetta 3 is literally the only 2018 exclusive I have set my eyes on, the other ones like MP4 definitely not coming out until 2019.

I don't like the floods of indie games that I can play on any potato PC or the old third party ports I already have played on my PC, Kirby isn't my thing... What else? Looks like I'm gonna have to be patient for a while.

Switch is a sexy device, which makes me want to play it, but with this poor exaggerated focus on Wii U porting it's doomed to collecting dust for the time being.

@Sculptor I can understand that but it is also simple to understand what it is happening: they have quite a few games that are already completed and need minimum effort to get ported, FOR NOW of course they seem to be much more than the new exclusive games. I remember how boring the lineup seemed at launch for other consoles too, consoles that after a few years were filled with great games and that I absolutely love, at first they just seemed so boring and poor and lacking good games. You compare a new console to an older one and you say "the older one has so much more good games" of course it has, it is just normal. Unfortunately Switch is not retrocompatible so it gives less option than other consoles like Wii and PS2 did at first. It does not have few games, it already has more games than other console had in the same period, but the perception of things tend to get fooled easily sometimes. Wait a little bit and if Switch will keep up with the good sales it have had for now you will see how it will become more and more rich of great games.

If they hadn't wasted time on MK deluxe we could have realistically been looking forward to a brand new Mario Kart for 2018. Imagine the hype for that!

@LuckyLand
I agree/understand, it's just that I had expected (a lot) more new stuff seeing how well the Switch is doing, continuing the trend from 2017. Last thing I'm hoping to see from them is failing to hold that momentum.
Of course 2017 was amazing on its own, despite BotW also being a Wii U port. I had great times with Odyssey and XC2.

But I have good hopes for a Direct this month and the E3 to reveal us new things we currently don't see coming, satisfying me after all. Perhaps I'll get something like Mario + Rabbids in the meantime if I really want to fill the gap on Switch. But I've played every Wii U port on Wii U and I'm just done with them.

I'm not used to getting a console this early anyway (got a Switch for my birthday out of the blue) and this is a good reminder why that is, hehehe. I like to wait two years and then dive into an established library. But yeah, of course the Switch will eventually have one as well. I have a feeling it will even be outstanding.

I'm quite a casual gamer myself. I've had a Wii but I've skipped the Wii U. I got interested in a Nintendo console again with all the good (p)reviews of Odyssey. I didn't even care for BOTW at that point. If there wouldn't have been a version of Mario Kart, I would never have bought the Switch yet (and later on also BOTW which I unexpectedly really enjoyed. Point is: a lot (perhaps the majority) of Nintendo gamers don't even realise and certainly don't care that they are playing ports.

You make a fair point.Still feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth for those of us that aren't such casual gamers though

The Wii U had a few good games, but I was really waiting on games like a sandbox Mario, Metroid Prime 4, and a main series Kirby game to really seal the deal and they just never made it. Gee, I wonder where I can find games like that?

Not realistic in the slightest. The Mario Kart team didn't just stay put looking at a wall and stretching a porting project through the years: they were busy developing ARMS. Drop the MK8 port and ARMS for MK9 to happen.

And again, MK8D is selling gangbusters, It's clear they made the right call.

ARMS totally blows. I rest my case

I don't see your point here. I've got a switch. And a WiiU. I'm not crying about lack of games for the WiiU. It's time is done. New games please

I'd be shocked if they don't create a new MK. Switch deserves its 'own' MK as much as it deserves its 'own' Zelda. I do feel that they brought certain Wii U ports this early so that the truly new installments will feel fresh again, having multiple years between them and the previous Wii U ports. Meanwhile giving them the opportunity to release a great franchise two times in a gen, filling up the release list and library with even more big titles.

MK Switch in 2020?

Sculptor

Grumblevolcano

The way I look at it is Nintendo wanted a Mario Kart very early on in the Switch's life so they ported MK8 to let that be reality. Seriously, the Switch's 2017 lineup would've been very weak if not for the Wii U ports and the console likely wouldn't have taken off as well as it did.

@MarcelRguez I am but it works either way because without MK8 Deluxe there would've been a large game drought.
