I don't understand why they just don't port all Wii U exclusive games to the switch. For those of us who never purchased a Wii U are missing out. Sometimes I think about buying a Wii U just because there is alot of good games on the system. The issue is, I play my switch 99.9% of the time portable and can't see myself playing a stationary console. (I don't own a PlayStation or Xbox)
Does anyone else feel us, switch owners are missing out not having all ports available. To me it would feel like a new game, not a port because I've never played them.
Also from what I've read, it seems like the Wii U virtual console is way better also. You can purchase SNES games. Or games made before the switch was released. What's the deal with that. The switch has been out almost a year now.
@trevor7428 Porting costs time and money. They'll only port games if they think they'll make a return on investment. Which, they will, so long as they scatter the releases as they have been doing. If they all released at once, they wouldn't sell nearly as many.
That said... Other than W101 (heavily hinted at already by Platinum), Pikmin 3, TMS#FE (going to be released to promote/to ride the popularity of SMT V or Fire Emblem if it happens at all), Xenoblade Chronicles X (Monolith has said they want to port it, so count that as a probably after XC2 broke the million seller mark already) and Super Mario 3D World / Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (Almost certainly not going to happen for either), what are you looking for? Every other major title is already on 3DS or Switch, or would need to be totally reworked to remove dual screen gimmicks.
As for the VC? We won't get any news of that until they reveal more about the online services most likely. But considering it killed the indie market the last two gens... it may just not happen outside of select games.
However much I do not like it, I can understand some people thinking that Nintendo will do ports because the Wii U was not so successful and the titles will find more success on the Switch... However, coming down from there to the standpoint of an individual that you are making, you are coming off as if Switch owners are somehow entitled to the Wii U titles just because the Switch is more successful.
If you never purchased a Wii U, you aren't entitled to the titles on the Wii U. Calling for Nintendo to port ALL of them to the Switch just because you didn't/won't buy a Wii U is really quite demanding.
I don't mean to be rude. It's just that you didn't buy the Wii U. I wish people who skipped the Wii U would stop demanding so many ports. Ports take resources, they have to be marketed, they don't exist in a vacuum in any way, shape, or form. As someone who actually supported Nintendo during the Wii U years, I really want the Switch to be a console that builds up its OWN library and makes its OWN statement.
I never owned a Wii U and as much as I'd love for them to port all the big games too,I agree that it's being greedy and demanding. Why do I deserve to play those games when I never bothered paying money for the console?Whatever ports they bring over, great I'll snatch them up if I like them but in the mean time let them concentrate on making brand new games for the Switch.
As a Wii U owner, I hope they port over as many games to Switch as possible within reason (e.g. no reason to port over Splatoon as Splatoon 2 exists with every other newly added stage being from the Wii U game, no reason to port over Ultra Smash as Aces exists and seems to pretty much be Ultra Smash if it was given extra development time). Also I'd much rather have consistent DLC support for MK8 Deluxe and a Smash 4 port than MK9 and Smash 5.
while they're at it. they should port:
Amiibo Festival
Ultra Smash
Devil's Third
(i don't wanna give them any ideas... but, i did )

Wii U owner here. C'mon guys the Wii U was an underrated and excellent console, but that doesn't mean the Switch should get none of its games. Basically 100% of what made the Wii U excellent were its games - it's only fair to those developers to release them on a more popular system and make more money off of their efforts. Plus the games all become portable once they go on Switch.
The people who are against ports, IMHO, should stop viewing it as Wii U vs Switch and instead view it as Nintendo as a whole. In order for the Switch to maintain momentum, it needs a steady lineup of quality games. And without turning to black magic, the only way for that to happen is to use some of the acclaimed Wii U games that few people played and port them over to make it seem like Switch constantly gets games released. As a result, more people would buy the Switch, more game developers make games, and everyone gets brand new games from a variety of genres. Wii U ports will only be beneficial for Nintendo.
@trevor7428 They will port over a good chunk of excellent Wii U games. The ones that were not very popular or relied heavily on second screen usage probably won't be ported, but the others will be ported eventually. You'll probably have to wait for a few years before a sizable number of games are ported to Switch. If you still want to play them before then, buy a used Wii U.
@Grumblevolcano Glad to see a fellow Wii U owner on the same page. I can't deny I get slightly irritated every time a Wii U port is announced for Switch because it does make it seem like the Wii U is less valuable (it isn't but that's another story), but in the overall picture the more Wii U ports for Switch, the better, for Nintendo as well as for Switch gamers (regardless of whether you owned a Wii U, as more games = more sales = more new games being made for Switch).

Porting takes time and money.
Btw, i have BOTH Wii U and Switch, two of my Wii U games are ported to Switch (Mario Kart 8 & LEGO CITY Undercover)
I only play kids games with a few rated Teen games that suitable for me.
@Grumblevolcano Yet DLC or any announcements of the sort for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are completely non-existent. The game has been out for over 9 months. "Consistent DLC" was clearly not in the cards.
@MsJubilee "Bring all the Wiiu games it ain't hurting nobody." It kinda is. It takes away resources that could otherwise be used to flesh out the Switch with new titles. For people like myself who owned a Wii U since day one and bought most of the games for it, Nintendo bringing over all of the games would lead to a lot of months where there was nothing or little to purchase outside the odd indie game and perhaps third party game if they ever properly come. Also not all the Wii U games would work on the Switch without a lot of work due to the nature they were designed.

I want Gamecube and Wii games. I don't care that much about Wii U games (because Gamecube and Wii games are a lot better imho) but I don't have anything against it either. There are good games on Wii U for sure, so I would be glad to play them, but Gamecube and Wii games are better anyway so I'm more interested in those games.
I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee
People are entitled to ask for Wii U ports despite never having supported the Wii U. There was very little reason to own a Wii U. Those people were smart.
