Overall, I'm pleased with what I saw in today's showcase regarding these twin games. What appears to be an open world region, using the title legendary of your choice as an omni-vehicle (still not sure which one I want), neat new Pokemon (BREAD DOGE!), regionals returning....Definitely ticking off a lot of boxes on paper.
Conversely, I'm not sure how I feel about the Terastallize (Terastallization?) phenomenon. It's clearly this gen's answer to Dynamaxing, Z-Moves, etc. It's clearly slightly different to Dynamax/Gigantamax, but so far it shares some similarities as well. Time will tell how I feel about it as we learn more info, but I'm not sure if I like the main "gimmick" switching out every gen. Personally, I still much prefer Mega Evolution, though I do acknowledge that the more recent substitutions are more balanced.
I’d say giving Pokémon the ability to change types mid battle opens the door to some pretty wacky strategies. Specially if they give us a good variety of available crystal forms for each Pokémon.
@Tyranexx I still can't believe they managed to make the pure Fairy food mon of the gen incredibly appealing to me. Turns out all they need to do is make it a dog (maybe that's why I also like the Swirlix line so much!).
In regards to Terastalising (god that name is going to take some getting used to), I'm pretty mixed on it myself: I find it to be the least interesting visually (though the gemstone texture added does look very nice) and it's certainly the most boring conceptually (what if Pokemon....but glowy?). However, on the complete other side of the spectrum, the uses for it in battle are extremely dynamic and interesting between the same Pokemon getting different types, being able to activate it whenever you want during the battle and Pokemon who get the same type they already are getting the equivalent of Adaptability for free? As a VGC enthusiast, it's so damn exciting. I can't wait to use a Normal Tera Type Slaking with Neutralising Gas Weezing (if it's in the game) and utterly nuke my opponent with Giga Impact!

I am hoping we can use all the pokemon (excluding legendaries) that were available from SwSh in SV. Didn't play SwSh but would like to use those gen 8 pokemon.
"Arven is an upperclassman at the academy. He’s good at cooking and is researching healthy recipes that can help Pokémon feel better. He will be asking you to help him out, since he isn’t good at Pokémon battles."
Also he's holding a Tamato Berry. So you were close, it's not a tomato, it's a Totally Not a Tomato in the Pokemon World.
@Eel I already preferred Koraidon out of the two from the moment they were revealed, but this fully cemented Scarlet as my version of choice. The fact they managed to make such a powerful mon exude both immense coolness and adorable stupidity is exactly what makes me love a Pokemon (if the new PFP didn't already give it away XD).

@Fizza Doggos do earn some points in my book. Though not quite as much as cats. Which totally isn't the reason I'm going with Sprigatito (unless I dislike the final evolution's design).
Glowing Pokemon...kinda reminds me of the "sparkling vampires" phenomenon related to the Twilight saga bashing. XD I think some of it is that it has less of a "wow" factor for me, sparkly or no. I also do have a bit of a bias for kaiju, though they didn't fully contact each other in Sw/Sh like I was hoping for lol. I do acknowledge that, implemented well, Terastalizing (Yep, it is a mouthful) could make competitive VGC very dynamic. I've never really played competitively outside of local friendly matches, so I admit I'm pretty casual when it comes to battling.
