@lordofsidious I get that English isn't your first language, but I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to say. Punctuation would be helpful too...
@lordofsidious Well, I'm sorry, I can't help you in that case. Maybe if you could use some punctuation next time, I'm sure that'll help a lot as well. Typing a big wall of text without full stops and commas isn't exactly... helpful.
So it seems @Octane knows something we don't know. Is there another Pokemon related Nintendo Direct, Pokemon Direct or Nintendo Tree House announcement (?) coming? Or will Pokemon be announced at E3? Are you in the development team?
When will we get free to play in Europe and America for Switch? So far, only in Japan and Korea some free to play games are available (only Phantasia Star Online 2 though).
I want to help you create free to play games, since I don't feel anything is coming yet. It has been too long ago though since a Pokemon RPG arrived on Switch. When will you get your team to announce the new Pokemon games for all regions?
//translate_attempt=off
Especially that last paragraph was tricky...
Now I do wonder when you will announce your progress @Octane?
@toiletduck Well, I've been trying to, but Miyamoto has been nagging me all week, and I still have to remember to feed Reggie twice a day. I barely have any time left to work on the games. I've told Bill to feed Reggie, but he hasn't showed up since he was fired. Reggie only eats Pizza Hut. I've sent him to a Chinese buffet the other day, because he likes egg rolls. Ended up getting a call from the hospital where I could pick him up, all bruised and beaten up (we're still looking for the culprit... @ogo79). Anyway, all I've been able to put down on paper is a banana with three eyes, I named him Bananamon. Well, see, the reason he's called that is because he's a banana and a monster. So the explains the mon part. And you're right, the last Pokemon RPG on the Switch was eighteen years ago. Progress on the new game is slow. But I've fired the director, but I've hired Nomura. All should be well. Expect news soon.
@Octane thanks for the extensive update. I'd reckon all is clear now! And please, take your time. And if you're suffering from a drawers block: I have some ideas lying around for a few little critters myself. To share some inspiration I'll hand you the names: Cinnamon, Monny, Hamster-mon... I know right?!?
I'm so glad these are nothing more than 4chan rumours:
>Pokemon for Nintendo switch will release holiday 2018
>the game will be releasing in a somewhat unfinished state similar to arms and splatoon 2
> it will release several updates/free dlcs
> it has many areas that are smaller than regions but still large in scale that are blocked and will become accessible as the year(s) progress.
> paid dlc is planned for this release
> the game runs on an engine similar to xenoblade chronicles 2 and botw
> it has a locked frame rate of 30fps and a resolution of about 850p
...I REALLY hope those are just rumors and nothing more.
Though if holiday 2018 is true, I apparently need to properly start playing Ultra Sun within the next few months. I've only fired it up for event Pokemon so far.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Octane@Tyranexx So honest question ... what about these rumors is so bad? I think the bit about the engine being the same as BotW is pretty exciting. And it would be a bit strange if they section off certain portions of the regions, but they could make it work by having the regions unlock throughout the year so that people are continuously playing the game and to prevent overload of wild Pokemon in locations. By adding parts of the map as free DLC they can effectively lengthen the developing period of the game and make the region far larger than any previous game. Resolution and frame rate are nothing special but it's almost the same as BotW and light years better than the 240p sub 30fps Sun and Moon games.
That being said, the problem with continuous free DLC as unlocking portions of the map is that the whole continuous free content model employed by Nintendo was only used in Splatoon and ARMS ... two multiplayer online games. The model helped keep the player base interested in the game. I'm not sure this model will be beneficial to have on a predominately single player game like Pokemon. But this could be the revamp of the series that's been rumored so idk. We shouldn't judge until it's announced.
[This is assuming those rumors are even remotely true in the first place]
I am really hoping those rumors are not true, and I'm willing to wait quite a bit longer if it means most of what was listed above doesn't happen. I'm fine with some sort of DLC being released for the game, kind of like with the ORAS Battle Tower that was teased, but never really amounted to anything, but I wouldn't want it to be anything that would take away from the core, original experience.

Switch: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
3DS: Pokemon Alpha Sapphire
PS4: Persona 5, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order
On second thought, the bit about the engine makes me thing it's 100% fake ''the game runs on an engine similar to xenoblade chronicles 2 and botw''. What does that even mean? The engines aren't even similar if I had to guess.
@shadow-wolf Because it's a single player, about catching Pokemon. What's the point if they locked off an area? Meaning you cannot catch certain Pokemon. But if you play the game a year from now, you can. How are they going to handle trainer levels with regards to these extra areas? The game needs to be playable without them, but over-leveling should also be avoided once all those extra areas are available. And it's paid DLC... So that's probably two $60 games, half finished, with paid DLC on top of it. I really don't think this works for a Pokemon game.
I can imagine them adding more areas and updating Pokemon in the future to keep the game alive but keeping areas locked away from the player over a time span sounds really dumb and so do the rest of those rumors.

Pretty much this for the most part. It's a model that I don't think would work too well with the Pokemon franchise. If anything, I could see some of those rumored changes ticking off veterans. One of the recent complaints is the lack of a decent post-game; locking away areas, particularly post-game areas, would NOT do the series any favors in this regard. Some like me enjoy taking their time with the games, whereas others power through these games in a weekend or less (how they do it without "skipping" huge story sections, forsaking sleep, obligations, etc., I'm not sure).
I could see DLC for future areas as a thing, but the FPS, "engine comparison", and "unlocking areas over time" bits all seem fishy to me.
Also, I really don't put much store in 4chan as a whole.
@Octane@Tyranexx good points. Looking at it again I agree, the model just doesn't work well for a predominantly single player RPG like Pokemon.
@YummyHappyPills Believe it or not, but based on what I've heard (I don't have a 3DS), 30 fps would be an actual upgrade. I've heard battles and the overworld in the 3DS games suffer from frame rate drops so a locked 30 fps would be an improvement in that regard.
