@Haru17 Every single one of them is impossible. There's always the odd Unown or Delibird, and I'm fine with those stupid useless Pokemon. They're sometimes fun to use in-game. However, they can definitely improve on the current situation. A power creep is not the way to go, but that's what they did in gen 6, although it didn't really have an effect.

@-Green- Yep, nerf the ice moves on water types. Maybe remove the steel weakness? Or give it another resistance. I don't think they really care though lol.

@MarcelRguez Well they made Fairy a thing and made Magnemite into Steel but I feel like they could have given others different typing too. I think though with Butterfree the trade off is that it's useful early because of how early it evolves and was originally there as a teaching mechanic. At least the new additional TMs and type changes for certain moves also help. Unless you mean they never balanced anyone stat wise... I know Butterfree's special attack was raised at one point but I don't think it was much.

@Late: Out of curiosity, why do you rate Gen 3 so low? It would be my lowest if not for FR/LG.

Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

I’m funny in the sense that gen V has my least liked games in the series, but also what might be my favorites.

Pokémon Generation 8

Speaking to Japanese publication Famitsu, which haas a massive 20 page feature on Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu, Let's Go Eevee and Quest, features an interview with The Pokémon Company CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara who provided a few minor tidbits about the upcoming Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch due out in 2019. He reconfirmed that this game is due for release in the second half of 2019, will have better graphics than any prior Pokémon game, that it'll be completely new and not like Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu & Let's Go Eevee and states that it will contain many brand new Pokémon.
We'll provide full details on these games as they come so be sure to keep checking back

@Tyranexx I didn't really count the remakes when but as for R/S/E, there are some things that really hinder my enjoyment. I'll just list a few:

Major:

  • Too much water. It makes sense when it comes to the story but water routes just aren't interesting. Water has to have water Pokémon so there's not as much variety in wild Pokémon and trainer battles. I also hate Dive. Diving could have been interesting but there's nothing interesting underwater and the movement slows down to a crawl. Also, it's another HM you have to teach to your water Pokémon. They should have learned that Surf, Waterfall and Whirlpool were already too many. At least Whirlpool wasn't a thing anymore.
  • The music. I hum Pokémon music a lot but it's never from Gen 3. The music isn't as memorable. Also, trumpets...
  • The graphics. I'm not entirely sure what it is but I've never liked the look of the games. I think it has something to do with the colors. They're just not as colorful as Pokémon Gold and Silver. Kind of makes me think of Brawl and how bland it looks compared to Smash 4.

Minor:

  • Two bikes. Could have been combined into one. I don't want to go switch my bike every time I see something I can't reach with my current bike.
  • There are bunch of additional features but I don't find them engaging. These include things like contests, secret bases and Pokéblocks. They're mostly optional things so it's not really a complaint. I mainly wished they had done something else instead.

They're not bad games by any means but I just don't like them as much as other generations. There are things I like about R/S/E as well. Though, it's not a good thing when the first one that comes to mind is something as minor as Gabby & Ty.

Amazon is telling me that Let's Go! Pikachu and Eevee are both "out of stock." Has there seriously been such a run on preorders that Amazon's initial planned allotment of copies has already been depleted?

Considering that Game Freak decided to produce this prior to Gen VIII, it makes me wonder why they didn't just port Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon to Switch while they were at it and later surprise us with a new game designed from the ground up for the platform.

Okay, so now it's officially been clarified that

  • It's aimed at long-time (core, though not necessarily competitive) players
  • Graphics will be improved over SuMo (which considering Let's Go! is typically considered a step down does have me hopeful they look nothing alike outside of Pokemon models)
  • Not a remake and contains many new Pokemon (read start of Gen VIII)
  • Will not have any influence from Pokemon Go!
  • Releasing second half 2019 (read November 2019 most likely)

Sounds good to me, can't wait to watch people come up with ways to use this information to scream doomed

The lack of a GTS confuses me. Like, we've somehow found it okay to go BACK to needing to know people somewhere in the world to trade rather than making it one giant open community.

The lack of GTS makes sense because only the first 151 Pokémon are included. Obtaining all 151, especially now that we can see precisely which Pokémon are on the field isn't exactly a monumental feat.

I hope we can transfer Pokémon to the Bank though, even if it is restricted to a one-way transfer.

@Silly_G Yaeh, but 4 of those require trading to evolve, so now instead of being able to pop on the GTS and do that quickly you need to know someone with the game you can trade with. It's a step back.

@Late : Design-wise, there was a lot that I disliked about Gen III, plus the fact that so much of what made Gen II so great was excised (the PokéGear, real time clock, nocturnal/diurnal Pokémon, daily events, etc.), and I feel that Gen III has byfar the blandest new Pokémon in the series to date. In fact, I can't really think of any Pokémon from Gen III that I particularly like (Huntail/Gorebyss spring to mind though).

I wasn't very happy that Gen III was remade for the 3DS, and while my memories of the game aren't all bad, it just failed to leave a lasting impression and was quite forgettable, even though I have probably played through Gen III more than any other generation.

@Knuckles-Fajita : That's a valid point, but if Pokémon rarity will be anything like Pokémon Go, we will probably be able to evolve those Pokémon with candies or possibly even find them in the wild a la Pokémon Go.

@Silly_G They said this game wasn't going to have candies.

@Knuckles-Fajita I don't see this as a step back. Maybe in the newer games because there's 800 other Pokemon you have to catch but I think at least with Go and Let's Go they are trying to bring back that social aspect that the original had. I think there lies the true spirit of Pokemon and I think why they're trying to split the games here and pretty much I think is the main difference between what the core audience is looking for versus the Go players. Been playing GO again with a friend of mine and we've been having a lot of fun just looking around and talking. I haven't talked to him in months (outside of social media).

Also they'll reveal more info for the Zeraora movie tomorrow (probably won't be anything but movies around this time of a gen tend to have cameos from new gen mons so you never know).

@Late: The "too much water" argument holds with me too. I'm probably in the minority, but I think it was a valid point in that IGN review that's been ridiculed and memed to death. The water routes in RSE were for the most part same-y and quite bland, and the oversaturation of water types didn't help either. The only thing I disagree about here is that I mostly enjoyed Dive; it gave the player a break from encounters if you stayed out of the seaweed, plus I felt like it added to the exploration and was a nice change of pace. The water routes are still kinda bleh in ORAS, but I don't recall encounters being quite as tedious.

I can recall a few tunes from those games that I enjoy, but to an extent I agree about the soundtrack. I've never had a problem with the graphics, though the fact that I originally played the games on a GBA SP may make a difference.

ORAS did allow the player to carry around both bikes after a time, but I agree that it should have been just one bike with multiple gears. I never have cared for contests, and Pokeblocks, Poffin, etc. never really have appealed to me.

Conversely, I did enjoy secret bases... if you found a decent spot. They weren't bad, but I'm glad the concept was better refined in Gen IV.

I don't care for Water routes either, but I thought Hoenn did them decently.

There were at least a lot of actual locations you could dock at. Including several dungeons and towns. In earlier in later gens, they had, at most, one town on an island as an excuse to have the water routes.
