Yup.

I just pointed out some details that some people may find unnatractive in one of the screenshots.

I don't really think the game looks bad. However I can understand why some people would be unimpressed by it.

Nintendo have very rarely been at the absolute pinnacle of graphical capability. They only really have a few games that might be considered extreme AAA in terms of graphics.
Maybe MK8 when it released for example. I remember thinking that looked better than anything I had on PS4 at that point.

Anyway, I'm glad it looks like it's gonna be a massive year for the Switch. The lineup is already looking very promising and we still haven't had E3.

@Delibheel Definitely. There's always room for improvement, especially as the hardware grows more capable.

I think, whether they realize it or not, a lot of people are actually just disappointed about the lack of a fully 3D camera. The game looks great, but the locked camera angle seems to be a sore point for some.

Ugh. Men.

@Grumblevolcano I hope it does well enough to encourage an Earthbound remake in the same vein!

@Dezzy I agree, but I mean one of the games the switch had that I thought had good graphics was Breath of the Wild. That one seemed like one of the most detailed nintendo games for me

The environments are relatively simple in BotW. Many times you're looking at the same few textures going up and down.

@Daloblast Honestly, BotW didn't have good graphics, it had good art design. It's the kind of game that'll hold up for years because of that.

Dezzy

@Delibheel

It does reuse textures a lot. But the environments are still quite detailed and extremely varied.

Generally moreso than most open-world games I would say. It probably has more environment variety than Skyrim or Witcher 3.

Daloblast

@link3710 Yeah, I was thinking that because of how vast it was, and compared to the graphics in the rest of the games it seemed one of the more detailed ones for me.

I feel like making an open world Pokemon game like BOTW would be difficult to make. It would probably take a lot of time, money and resources to make a good open world game, plus, there would be some big challenges that the developers have to face to make the game fun. I think some open world elements should be implemented like a controllable camera and dynamic weather but a completely open world Pokemon seems too ambitious for Game Freak

@Aeleron0X Because the Pokémon Games do not make money right?

Yeah they could definitely afford a kind of Assassin's Creed/Call of Duty type budget if they wanted to.
I guess they prefer to just make more profit by focusing on style and gameplay.

Aeon7

@Zuljaras Well yes of course they do but building a massive game still takes a lot of resources and time. Pokemon Company clearly has a lot of money to fund a big game but I think the issue is whether or not if they have the talent and knowledge to do it. Also video games are hard to make than what most people think

Aeon7

@Dezzy @Aeleron0X They make Pokémon games from 1996 if I am not mistaken. If they do not have the talent to expand and evolve by now … well … bad news for their teams.

I think that they know that we the players will buy every Pokemon game even if it is just a rehash with better graphics like Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

I am guilty of that pleasure. I love buying Pokémon games.

SKTTR

Watched those new Pokémon trailers.

Looks like a living world full of adventure that will be nice to explore.
Just like Poképark Wii 1+2, my favourite games in the franchise.

The only downside to Poképark was a very simple combat system.
I hope this continues to combine the best things of both series.

Never played a Pokemon game and I know there's always games released in pairs. What's the difference between sword and shield. I don't recall seeing it in the trailer. This may be the first Pokemon game I pick up if I see more that intrigues me

Daloblast

@nintendobynature Most of the time the only differences between the games are very minor, such as the main legendary pokemon, or some pokemon you can get in one game and some you can only get in another.

@nintendobynature There are always version-specific Pokemon that you have to trade for, including different legendary Pokemon, and sometimes there are minor story differences.
