The dancing portion of the contests was more like a "simon says" thing back then. The leading pokemon would set up the steps, and the others had to copy them. I'm not sure if that's still the same in the remakes though.
I fully expect them to get rid of the "sheen" system like they did in ORAS, so contests stats should be considerably easier to max out now. Which is nice.
Some copy past news from serebii.net:
Previews for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl have been released through various outlets. Within these there's some new information about the games. First, according to Vooks, the game will now include Auto Save, which can be disabled. According to Vooks and Nintendo World Report, Experience Share is also back and affects all Pokémon, but like Sword & Shield, it cannot be turned off. The mechanics including QoL upgrades shown within past generations have also returned such as showing type effectiveness in battle. TMs are also single use in the game, but there will be opportunities to get more.
According to Polygon, you can change the Pokémon in your party with Pokémon in storage at any time.

Why did they have to keep the exp share thing from sword and shield? It was awful.
Anyways, I watched a preview and the music is.. kind of bad. The overworld themes are fine, but in battles, the music is as terrible as the original Dragon Quest 11..

GameXplain claims the exp share can be turned off. Apparently they’re reaching out to nintendo for confirmation, to see if they got the detail wrong or not.
Apparently the only two battle themes that actually sound terrible are the themes for Trainer battles and the theme for Team Galatic's fights. It'd be nice if EXP share was able to be turned off, but I highly doubt it'll actually be done.
One thing that really gets me though is that they brought back single-use TM's..

@Eel You can turn it off in Sword and Shield? Also, as far as I know, all TM's are single use, but apparently there's an easy way to get ahold of them.

@Pokester99 Wouldn't expect the pokemon to be transferrable to Sword and Shield, given that they didn't do it for ORAS and X and Y. You could only transfer forwards, not transfer backwards. Things might be different, given Gamefreak's using Sword and Shield for competitive play.. but I doubt it.
I thought this was already common knowledge for people into these games but what they did in SwSh was introduce a new category of learnable attack items, TRs (Technical Records). TMs are still around and infinitely usable, but mostly teach basic and strategy-based moves (like Substitute and Thunder Wave, though they do include a few decent attacks like the elemental punches). TRs are one-use and obtainable multiple times (particularly as Raid Battle rewards), and mostly contain the cool/effective offensive moves people associate with TMs (Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, etc.). There are 100 moves for each category.
@Eel TMs since Generation 5th are unlimited even in 8th Generation, but 8th Generation added TRs as well and those are one use. But they said that there will be more chances to get TMs in BDSP due return of one use for TMs there.

@Eel as TRs yes, but TMs stayed unlimited like they been since Generation 5th. At this point it kinda confirms that there will be one type of teachable moves in BDSP and that's probably why they returning back to one use instead unlimited.

@thiz since new catching place reveal in underground there will be more fire options for sure, so taking original encounters from DP for sure is not 100% guarantee that some Pokémon stay uncatchable.

@Pokester99 You shouldn't expect every pokemon given that the national dex cut is a thing. It's better just to assume that we're only getting the pokemon up to the Sinnoh dex, due to the underground's rework, and that's it. No new pokemon that come after gen 4.
Pokemon fans really don't understand the concept of other monster collectors cutting their rosters down every game, do they?
